  • In this video we install a set of aluminum valve covers on a Nissan 350Z. We show you the key areas to focus on in order to get the factory valve covers out and the new ones in.
We install a set of Mitzone valve covers which are identical to the Concept Z versions. New gaskets were also used for the installation.

I noticed the valve seals (O-rings) for Driver side are bigger than the Psngr side. If taken out, you can easily get confused and mix up a incorrect seal install causing a future oil pool leak around the spark plug. The bigger seals have 4 small dots behind around the ring. Best to mark the seals with a silver sharpie.

Hey Anthony love your videos! I also bought these and did them maybe about 3-4 months back. I checked everything also did loctite on all the bolts on the inside, I'd watch the spark plug tubes makes sure they don't leak. Mine recently started, I'm wondering if it is just cheap seals, I'll probably end up taking them off and replacing the spark plug seals soon. I know Nissan makes OEM replacement spark plug seals, I think one of the Infiniti's with the same engine had aluminum valve covers where you can replace all the seals. I'll probably end up getting those seals.

1: Powder Coating it for a harder shell color layer.
2: Ishino Stone Japan gaskets & oem pcv
3: Replacing ALL aluminum bolts w steel ones or bttr.
    4. Extra sealant on the corners of the valves, where its notorious for leaking at.
TIP: If you still see white smoke or smell it inside the cabin. Check the lower exhaust manifolds (Headers) and wipe off any past oil residue around them since it gets hot and probably burning up the old oil leak problem you just solved.

The valve covers I have on now are probably 3 years old and I'm seeing leaks in the front passenger and rear drivers. These were Amazon plastic style with the brass wire mounting inserts and the last time I worked on my car, i pulled one of those inserts out. It just has me questioning an upgrade. Very good instruction on installation. Did you put sealant on the sharp bends like the factory does? I have been told if you don't, you will probably experience oil leaks around that area.

on many u2 videos for 350z they are adding gasket maker on the alum surface at the corners prior to installing the new valve cover and gasket...is this 100% necessary for a recreational car ...not a perfectionist or OCD ...
