I love that he talks about wanting BOCW perk upgrades to be IN game instead of in the menus, because thats EXACTLY what I was hoping for too. Whether it be through specific challenges or just repeat purchases of the perk at the perk machine, i always wished that there was a continuous progression over the course of every match to keep up with the power curve instead of grinding for aetherium crystals in the first month of the game and then being at max power every gane from then on

I'd put myself in the "Hardcore Causal" camp. I've played every iteration of Zombies since WAW, but I've never gone for the EE's. I'm definitely happy with some sort of story, but the core gameplay needs to be fun: Pack/Camos, Perks, Interactables, even buildables. Wouldn't mind each map being a totally different group of people/setting like Mob and stuff. Also bring back starting pistols and not bringing in perks/weapons/aether tools etc.
    Anyway, just ranting.

Halo has so much potential. 343 and Microsoft are idiots for not putting more attention and care to the series. Imagine getting an ODST survival game that has bread crumb ties to Chief’s next story. Maybe a mention or action connected to the two stories. Or even Arbiter dealing with a Flood investigation. Anything for crying out loud.

Just to hear different perspectives on a series I honestly haven’t had much experience with outside of black ops 3 is very interesting to me. I hope these videos keep coming out, I always find them pretty interesting like I said.

50:08 I firmly believe there is a way treyarch could bring back aether and it make sense. Atherium could be 115 just with a different name( looks similar to what we see on the revelations image when selecting a map in bo3 and causes similar effects on people), the aether crew-Dempsey takeo and Nikolai could all still be alive, bullet to Nikolai didn’t kill him and he couldn’t bring himself to fully poison the rest of the crew in tag- and with Samantha now in the dark aether she could find them hiding out somewhere. Richthofen also bonded his soul with the souls of the 3 other characters throughout all of time and space and the Agatha device didn’t truly rid the zombies from the world meaning that it could also have not broken what the aether shard did. With all of this I believe there is a way that the crew can come back and save this mess of modern call of duty zombies games we have been forced to endure. Let me know if this makes no sense

  • @Bigbodygeneral

They need to hard reset the storyline, bo3 mechanics, and a new crew that has good characters and development that makes you want to learn more about the game and get invested in it. They have not been able to do it since bo3 ended.

They should’ve been able to do whatever they wanted with this almost fresh start in a new dimension, they just didn’t do a good job of it. And now the story somehow intertwines with the campaign? Like what…? That just sounds like a horrible decision that will just end up limiting both modes.

I agree. Unfortunately, we will never see that again after the introduction of operators. Activision depends on microtransactions for their main revenue source instead of a polished product. They view players as dollar signs, not as a community. That’s why I refuse to ever spend 30 dollars on a cosmetic skin for something that should be unlockable in game via grinding.

    • @Bigbodygeneral

Tried to enjoy or see what was so enjoyable but never got the chance. Most of black ops was good because of glitching and I didn't know that. Dmz is too glitchy related and I hope they don't put in PvP in. Honestly, every game I've played since the game came out, has only suggested, that people are pissed. This game is a pyramid scheme because they create the game itself and then lock the strongest guns and then create the service that pays to have people to go into the game to unlock the very thing that they had put in there to appear as if it was a bug. This is just another variation of a Ponzi scheme or a pyramid scheme isn't it?

Milo's passion for story telling and learning is beautiful. As much as I love his UA-cam videos, I think he could do the writing for a plethora of different mediums. Whether he wrote a book, movie, or game story. I'd say if he wrote for a game studio, it'd be a masterpiece. He shows clear knowledge of both storytelling and how to implement it in an interactive, fun way. I'm not sure if that is his direct interest, as I believe his university experience was in physics. I still think it'd be amazing to see one day if he chose .
As for games with deep lore: STALKER. The games have so much environmental interaction to tell its story, they have an involved community, new game on the way. It is much more tactical of a shooter but it is so customizable and interesting that I end up finding it more fun. Training zombies is fun for awhile in COD but it's not that exciting once you know how to use movement paths. Based on Chernobyl and Ukrainian made. Or STALKER Anomaly Gamma, which is completely free but instead of a story, it is more of a survival horror game.

I was obsessed with Zombies from Black Ops 1 up through completing most of the Black Ops 3 easter egg quests, only dabbled in BO4 Zombies, didn’t touch WW2 or Vanguard Zombies, and I enjoyed Cold War but checked out prior to the last season or two. So that being said like yeah round based zombies is awesome as its own thing but besides that Zombies feels so mechanically smooth and rewarding on the Modern Warfare engine, it’s genuinely just a shame that the aesthetics and storyline/world building of the Urzikstan map and Dark Aether storyline and characters completely pale in comparison to the classic Treyarch Zombies experience.

29:00 I love having to set up on origins every time I play it. You do have to learn a lot but you don't have to rely on mystery box rng. Also, with how the game is set up, if you don't like the grind for origins then there is other, easier maps like buried or like an easy map like Kino to a difficult map like five. With these older games you have the luxory to play the way you wanted. Now it is all easy and hand holdy because that is the backbone of the game system.

Another game that comes to mind that has Deep Lore and environmental storytelling, and is really all about Puzzles is The Legend Of Zelda series, granted the timeline is weird, and contradictory because Nintendo doesn't care about the Timeline and have said that they will let fans decide where things fit
But the Community theorizing is at least on the same level of Zombies if not even more just because there's more games so more to talk about
For years during and after Breath of the Wild there were theories on like the Zonai, and the timeline, and the Battle 10,000+ years before the events of the game and The 8th Heroine, and all kinds of stuff, and the sequel Tears of the Kingdom answered some questions while creating dozens of others
I know it's a very different kind of game to Zombies or Halo, but for anyone wondering why I brought it up because at the end of the video they asked for other games so I'm giving the example I know best

25:18 Funnily enough the point he make here about the perk upgrade system in Cold War was sort of fixed in Vanguard Zombies. In Vanguard Zombies the perks were upgraded in match and not in a menu lobby like Cold War. And since they were in match upgrades they weren’t permanent so you would always need to upgrade them again in the next game. It uses the COD Zombies formula of getting into a match and doing whatever you can in that match to get stronger until you die and have to start over again. I want to be clear that Vanguard is still the worst zombies experience ever made but it had some redeeming qualities about it and this is definitely one of them. The only issue with it though was that the perk upgrades were just simple level upgrades rather than having the extra abilities that the perks were given in Cold War.

They could easily make a BO3 zombies remaster game where you have a campaign that starts at the end of origins then you travel the multiverse as richtofen doing whatever he had to do between origins and the giant with the final mission being going to shadows of evil. Then with the zombies we have all the BO3 maps plus both versions of mob of the dead with the blood of the dead version being actually good 😂
Then when you complete the whole campaign and do all EEs you unlock the secret great war map then if you complete the great war EE and did the broken loop ER for mob of the dead you get the BO4 fractured loop timeline that continues on from blood of the dead. Heck maybe it doesn’t need to be specifically need to be a BO3 zombies remaster but maybe all zombies plus the other locations we never went to with the main campaign being all of richtofen’s journeys that we never saw

I’m a hardcore zombie player, I love all zombies even vanguard had some charm to me even if it was only camo grinding.
Mwz needs more content for end game maybe a portal that leads to a full tier 3 version of the main map or dynamic map where the tiers move randomly.
Also one thing I do like about halo is the battle pass is dynamic you can go
Back and do any battle pass any time you want so even if you have missed one you don’t lose out.

My issue personally with CoD (starting from BO4) was that they made a half-assed attempt to create a BR with Blackout and diverted resources away from the core gameplay that I come to CoD for (i.e., zombies and multiplayer). If I want to experience a BR I still choose Fortnite over anything else because thats what I'm looking for out of that game. When I load up CoD my intentions are to play TDM style modes or round-based zombies. So for me personally it was the choice to ride the bandwagon instead of innovating what they had that has pushed me away from recent CoD titles.

    Zielinski was scifi and comics
Blundell was folklore and clear story.
The magic was between the two I think. I really miss everything about Zielinski maps. I also hate the folklore, like why did we even need apothicons or HP Lovecraft inspired edginess? The Zielinski move was that we were the authors of our own destruction, two rival scientists trying to outprove the other.
Blundell made them friends, took away the aspect of "who will win" and gave the antagonist position to a 3rd party we have no connection to. But that isn't the point of zombies, richtofen made this and now he has to live through it while achieving his master plan, which is excellent communication to the player. If they dig that deep, that is. Idk blundell made it too vanilla, zombies is zombies, don't make it something else. Get rid of margwas and bosses from another dimension, remember in the original two games, anything that was considered a boss was still human made, nova crawlers, denizens, etc. Shits stupid, it's not a zombie it's straight folklore or trying to make scary monsters. Verrukt didn't need margwas to be scary or make you anxious, go back to base and grow from there. I'm rambling but you feel me? I miss Tranzit

I wholeheartedly disagree with not having any persistence between matches.
I'm all down for having to upgrade Perks in game, but it has to be permanent.
Milo's devils advocate for it was exactly my sentiment.
I don't mind setting up, but better Perks is something you'd want every game, so it'd get tedious getting them every match, especially when going for camos.
I don't want to spawn in with a Wonderweapon, but upgraded Perks persisting is mandatory IMO.

@@imabipolarbear9324 but there should be more stuff to do and earn as long as it's not in your face or mandatory.
Your playtime should be rewarded in some fashion.
Upgrading a perk in game would just be another form of side easter egg.
Are we suddenly saying we don't want side easter eggs anymore?
Back in the day people begged for and theorized about upgrading Perks, or Equipment, and then when we finally get it they go "who asked for this?", and it's pretty annoying.
I'm not saying there should be 5 Tiers of Perk Upgrades that you have to unlock inside of or outside of a match.
I'm saying that after you complete a side easter egg your Jugg now gives you an extra hit, or something simple like that, and it persist from that point forward.

Origins handled this perfectly; the more you played that one map, the more bonus passive perks you unlocked that followed you for a few matches like if you repaired x amount of windows, you got a passive upgrade that allowed you to rebuild them faster. Hear me out in the topic of perks, why don’t the game have in game quests kinda like how in CW you gotta do a challenge to get a new gun if you didn’t unlock it in the battle pass where you do certain challenges in game for example jug says take 100k damage (no time limit just take 100k damage) and then it unlocks to tier two forever but then theirs a new challenge for tier 3 then 4 and 5 and so on but once unlocked they stay unlocked, I agree getting crystals are lame and so the challenges make up for it by having challenges around the perk in order to upgrade them permanently because imagine if golf war bring 10 perks you can use like CW that means you have to do an endless challenge multiple time for every single perk in order to upgrade them and you have to do it every single time you start a new game, I cannot think of a more boring side quest, this way you get the best of both worlds, one side people unlock it by doing things in game and not on a menu outside the game and the other side they can keep what they earned for putting time to getting the challenges done

They literally took the Halo: Fall of Reach book, changed the base content, and made one of the most successful Halo games. So they could definitely take any books and make them into content. Especially since the books aren't direct canon, rather than a frighteningly similar timeline.

    • @Phwonk
      @Phwonk 9 місяців тому

The books are canon, and reach the game is completely different from the book, they're not even remotely similar. They scrapped pretty much everything that happened in the book, besides reach itself getting destroyed.

I ffully disagree with the upgrading perks. Cold War did it perfectly. It wasnt annoying but still fun to play for and unlock. If i had to do that in every fkn match like in Vanguard... buy the same perk 300 times in one match to get the full power of the perk or have to do the same challenge every match to get the full perk i will kms

20:00 I get why they thought of doing that approach with halo 5. Players now adays are getting more competitive/serious about wanting to be great instead of how it was back in halo 3 where everyone was chilling with friends on a couch just playing for fun. I don't think they managed to capture the players needs with that game, but I don't think it Halo would have been able to be enjoyable if they never tried to innovate things.

Either they need to remove timers on schematics or give us more carry space in the backpacks. Both just handcuffs so much.

    • @imabipolarbear9324
      @imabipolarbear9324 9 місяців тому +2

Carry space in backpacks doesn’t even matter if you just end up disconnecting and losing things anyways. It’s insane that they made a game mode relying on exfil that people can’t even stay connected to.

I strongly feel that there should always be a limit to how much stuff you have to upgrade in one match. Everyone seems to want to have to upgrade perks in game, but I feel like having to fully max out 10+ perks every single time I play a match just to get the full effect is really dumb. It's going to take way too much time. I think CW nailed the progression perfectly. I'm not saying I'm the best at the game, but I know for a fact I'm good at it. And it usually takes me to late 20's early 30's to have myself at the max power I can. (Perks, full pap on all guns, AATs, score streak, etc.) anything longer than that is a no go for me. I don't want to have to play to round 50 just so I can have jugg give me 250 health, or Deadshot do extra crit damage.

48:38 - I think what they should also do is give us cutscenes of all the radios that we've had over the years so we can finally get the face reveals of tons of characters for example like.... Dr Schuster, human Sophia, human Pernell, Brock and Gary, Sally, Harvey Yena, Dr Gersh, Sawyer, Dr Layman, George Barkley, the leader and people of the Flesh, the people who followed Dr Maxis, the Reporter and also the people we hear in Shadows. Like there's so many unknown faces in the old story. This could also be done with some of Chaos and Dark Aether as well. Would be so sick😎
    1:44:52 to 1:46:56 - That's what I'm saying brooo like come on🤣

There is a few other games I have in mind that have a solid magic to it, that I always go back to. One of them is because of zombies and I love zombies, which is the Dead Rising series. Then there is Fallout 4 which gives the same satisfying itch to looting that the current mw3 zombies gives. And then there’s Bioshock. There’s something so magical to Bioshock. It’s like a professional artist made it and it’s Legendary. Go check it out, it’s great.

I firmly believe that Activision forcing the other studios too focus solely on the dark eather as killed itself since it’s the same thing over and over. Hell even Treyarch wanted it too be contained too their games only. I so wanted Advanced Warfare 2 but Activision is too scared of change that it’s gonna implode on itself
