Capitan Lasky has to be one of the best 343i Halo characters. After watching the OG Halo movie about him, playing Halo 4, then Halo 5, I feel like I know his whole life story.
Tangentially related but I love all the ship personnel in this series. Imagine the balls you have to have to willingly sign up to serve on a ship where the only way to beat the covenant is to have 3-1 ship advantage or better, and even then they lose half of theirs at least.
@@jakespacepiratee3740 I meant earlier during the covenant war specifically but I suppose times change, especially when you've got a Super Carrier like the Infinity.

Agreed. I started with CE, more or les skipped 2 and mainly played 3. But Reach was peak gameplay, and it's just slightly behind Halo 3 as my favourite as a full game. But gameplay wise Reach is best imo
48:06 That track is "Arrival". Fighting hordes of Prometheans with this overwhelming sense of dread knowing Cortana is doomed while this plays is easily one of my favourite Halo tracks/moments - so powerful.
Personally, the Silent Auditorium would have been one of my favorite missions if the Endless were actually freed. It would have been a buildup rivalling the Flood's reveal from Halo CE....but then it just winds up being a blueball teaser for the Endless. That sucked for me. They should have been just been officially freed and we fight them, instead of the ultimate climax of halo Infinite just being a teaser...
Yeah I def agree there, but for me the aesthetic was just so damn good I had to give it S+ tier. I don't think I've ever reacted that way to seeing a video game aesthetic for the first time before, I spent so long just staring at the statues
Very true, especially since it seems like campaign DLC is gonna be at least a year or more away at this point. I wish they would’ve just let us see the Endless, instead of locking them behind a DLC that may or may not even exist depending on how multiplayer does.

My favorite level is undoubtedly “the ark” in Halo 3. A stunning mission, with an epic opening cutscene and challenging and varied combat both on the ground and in vehicles. Speed through the dunes with a chopper, see the dawn in all its immensity, explore the ark for the first time and observe the Milky way galaxy in the sky as the battle rages both in the atmosphere and on the ground ... Wandering around Mombasa streets at night, dodging Covenant patrols, scanning for clues, uncovering hidden bits of environmental story telling, all with what is easily my favourite Halo soundtrack out of the whole series is just incredible. When I think about it I still get emotional and nostalgic about my childhood. I miss those days.
QZ is hands down my favorite mission. The music, the setting, and enemies make it one of the most interesting in the series. Plus it leads up to the best cutscene ever. AND ARBY HAS HIS OWN THEME IN IT!
Oh come on...I thought the Halo 5 Sanghelios Missions were the best in the Campaign. Alongside the final mission. Granted, it was kinda silly to reduce Master Chief into a damsel in destress, but seeing Swarms of Guardians teleporting across the Galaxy, hearing Legions of Smart Ai's pledge to Cortana's Ecumene, the Covenant Remnants trying to survive against resurgent legions of Forerunner Terminators while Cortana goes utterly insane...it was quite immersive.
The Storm was always my favorite Halo mission as a kid. Honestly. Tsavo Highway through The Covenant might be the best 5 consecutive levels in any game period.

Truth and Reconciliation will always be my favorite. it's the first Halo experience I've ever had. When the keyboard and drums kick in when you pass the first groups of enemies. Shit really hits home for me
One of my favorite Halo missions is ONI alpha site. The scene of the bridge blowing up, getting pushed back more and more into the base fighting a relentless wave of enemies, and of course the final rooftop battle along with the cutscene. Instead of being the one invading a covenant base, you're stuck defending one of your own from the covenant until you can pull out and destroy it. Also made for a great firefight map.
48:23 Yes Yes finally I’ve been waiting for someone to talk about this soundtrack piece (it’s called arrival by the way) it such a good soundtrack piece. So, you’ve mentioned how you’re not a fan of the gameplay of some of the games and that had me thinking: Halo gameplay/mechanic tier list? I’d love to know why you didn’t like Reach when it’s the Halo which had the best mechanics for my playstyle.
I agree with you. The Covenant is by far the best level of all time. I love Assault on the Control Room, Delta Halo, and the Ark, but the narrative writing, cutscenes, gameplay (2 scarabs, teaming up with the Flood) and the intro track "Three Gates" in The Covenant is absolutely iconic.
I feel it's worth mentioning the lil RvB easter Egg in Crow's Nest. Absolute peak comedy. Super nostalgic whenever i come across it in playthroughs. A+ tier for sure 🤟
One thing I wished there was in the level Cortana was that you could see past rooms you had trekked through in halo 2. I know that you can see the Masouleum of the Arbiter and that the room that you find Cortana in is the same room that you go into just before taking the elevator up to the fuel beam in halo 2 on high charity, but I wished we saw more of the same rooms as a callback to halo 2. On the level “the covenant”, I love to take out the scarabs a certain way. I will take down the legs, then land my hornet onto the scarab, fight through the enemies, then take out the core, then go back and escape on my hornet just as the scarab’s about to blow up, then do the same to the other. It’s one of my favorite encounters in all of halo. Two things about New Alaxandria: in the building that has the drones in it, you can actually find a terrified marine in the building as well. Also, after you activate the club errera Easter egg, if you fly to the top of Club Errera, you can find a switch at the top of the building, and, when activated, will play “siege of Madrigal” in the club. Also, on the package, one of the marines or ODSTs you have has a very small chance to be named Martin O Donnell, with his tag being MRTY. I used to like reclaimer, but now I don’t. Every time I play it, the level seems to break and I get soft locked for no reason and have to restart, and since I’m doing a legendary playthrough that is super annoying. Also, a strategy for shutdown in halo 4: if you want to beat the level quickly, fly straight to the final tower you go to. The door that’s supposed to open after you clear the other two towers has gaps in it that you can fly through, then you can land and jetpack through the interior door that also has gaps in it for some reason.
My all time favorite Halo misson has to be Gravemind and if not one of my favorite video game missions ever. I mean not just the gameplay, but how the storytelling went all the way up to the climax. First your fighting in the council chambers, then you rescue marines from a prison one the lower levels of the city, and after that, a civil war breaks out and everythings just killing each other, and out of no where, In Amber Clad just does a slipspace into the City, which was freakin MIND BLOWING and extremely unexpected. And finally, the final room with that insane firefight with the three ultra elites and brutes was just freaking insane....and then you get news the floods broken out like...Holy shit. It just shows you that storytelling is best told through gameplay and not cutscenes. TY Bungie. Timeless masterpiece
24:55 bro same. When i was a kid i played delta halo and uprising religiously for whatever reason. I literally remember a day where i played uprising maybe 5 to 6 times back to back as a kid. Cheers to you for this list brother
Yeah Uprising is probably my favourite Halo 2 episode as well. The tension thats unfolding right before your eyes as the covenant turn on the Elites is great. And I just love the whole medieval tone and language used by the Elites as you encounter them and they bemoan their situation and vow revenge. Additionally, the aesthetic is a beautiful combination of indoor dimly lit caves with the wonderful mountainous forested feautures outside. I also love the vehicle fight vs the Brute Spectre like you said with all the ghosts pouring out, turrets firing on you and enemies lined up on both sides of the gorges / valleys and the then that little island of trees that you circle around while pursuing the spectre. I think there are 4 or 5 jackals in there and some grunts and it just adds to the frantic intensity as you have shots coming at you from behind, front and within those trees and from on top the cliffs as well. Its also super fun just zooming down that super long linear section of the gorge with boost on and blasting past the enemies / splattering them into the final area. The section at the end is just amazing with all the beserking brutes, the two wraiths and that freaking AWESOME treasure trove of weapons. I am def very very bias towards Halo 2. Arbiter is my favourite character I think. So all his missions are amazing as far as I am concerned. But for Chief, im pretty preferential towards Metropolis, Delta Halo, Regret, High Charity. I love fighting in a city under assault while you push towards taking out the ludicrous number of enemies on the scarab by leaping onto it at the end. Then going to the halo and discovering it all over again but with a new aesthetic with the ancient temples. Then finally, that long shot where you walk out onto Regrets location and pass all the defeated enemies with the music pumping in the background. Then you catch a glimpse of High Charity and the largest covenant fleet ever seen around it. Cortana is freaking out and telling you to get inside and take out truth before things get messy. Then the badass honour guards. I realize i am really gushing over halo 2 lol. Rest if series is great if course and I LOVED infinites gameplay but Halo 2 is my baby. Thanks for doing this and please do more soon.
Awesome video, loved the nostalgia! My fondest memories were for sure Assault on the Control room then Two Betrayals. Specifically how each map had its cheeky way to get the banshee “early” and then challenge yourself to keep it as long as possible. Loved it!
I think Halo (H3) would have been perfect if the valley that the control room is in was an exact replica of the one from Assault on the Control Room (because it should be considering that ring is a replica of Installation 04).
Something I thought about when you mentioned the cinematography in the section about halo 3 'The Covenant' was how good bungie halo cinematography was, but also how unique halo infinites was, being one continuous shot with little cuts
My single greatest memory of halo would have to be when I played The Covenant, kept a single shot on my Spartan laser through the entire mission, went on the side of a hornet, and blew away the back of a scarab from midair. God Halo 3 is fucking legendary
You're absolutely right. The Covenant is the best Halo mission ever made. They hit every single story beat in Halo, every faction's climactic peak, harkon back to Alpha Halo, ending Truth just to remind you that the Gravemind is still a threat to be dealt with... A masterclass in level design.
Im pretty sure that the song at the end of midnight is called arrival, also i love the entrance to the end of midnight when jump on the lift and you float to the other side or the middle of the mantle. It was a really good screenshot and perfect wallpaper for a computer
I honestly dont understand why he has such a problem with Reach gameplay, way better than halo 4 and 5's gameplay and story imo not a single halo 5 mission should rank above any of Reach's missions
about the eye strain advert, guys there are options that can be enabled on your phones and possibly PC, that restrict blue light usage. If you experience eye strains or headaches its a good idea to turn those features on.
Prediction: All Bungie Halo levels will be ranked high, all 343 Halo levels will be ranked low, all Flood levels will be ranked highest despite being the most annoying. Energy-Sword me if I am wrong.
After watching this whole video, i appreciate that halo 1,2,3, reach were the only ones to have levels that achieved S+ tier, specially since those 4 games were my top favorites. Just goes to show that Bungie did an absolute fantastic job creating some great games
Hey Luc, with your blessing, because otherwise it would seem like copying. I'd love to do a video on this tier list myself. Also, you could challenge the rest of the halo community, curious to see everyone's choices in there own videos.
im so happy you put uprising in S+ tier. growing up i always loved that mission and felt it was probably the best halo 2 level. i love the music and the atmosphere when you first get teleported in, that absolute vastness and beauty of halo is showcased here. also the dying elites on the ground are speaking to you and fighting alongside the other elites I felt this strong sense of brotherhood. very hype.
When I first killed Captain Keys, I felt a heavy heart combined with the relief of knowing that I liberated him from The Flood. It felt good to deny The Flood of his critical neural chip, but even better to end his suffering and restore his freedom.
Do you know why in Halo 3 ODST Buck sometimes says, “Time to put the pineapple on it!” When he throws a grenade? It’s always funny to hear it but I’ve never known WHY he says it
If someone were to ask me, "who do you think is the most excited about Halo content..." I would definitely say, this guy right here. He gets so 'turned up' speaking of this game. Nothing wrong with that, it's my favorite story too!
The Covenant belongs in an S++ tier. You fight everything, covies, flood along with sentinals, elites, marines, and flood, with every weapon and vehicle! It was putting the final nail in the coffin for the Covenant as it existed from High Charity for millenia with Humanity victorious as the green alien killing cyborg demon and his badass elite bro!!!
I have to share your love of Assault on the Control Room. Back before I truly knew the series and just played co-op at my friend's house that mission always stood out for me.
you know, watching this I realsied I can't remember a lot of infinites levels - they all blended together because aesthetically they were so similar I find it so hard to remember specifics

Lol love seeing that the rad brad is being used for footage, even if people might ignore it, its nice to see him in another channel
Loved it!
I think Halo (H3) would have been perfect if the valley that the control room is in was an exact replica of the one from Assault on the Control Room (because it should be considering that ring is a replica of Installation 04).
the Reach slander is just out of pocket..
Something I thought about when you mentioned the cinematography in the section about halo 3 'The Covenant' was how good bungie halo cinematography was, but also how unique halo infinites was, being one continuous shot with little cuts
love these tier lists and longer vids! keep em coming!
7:30 it's that 007 nostalgia hitting ya
My single greatest memory of halo would have to be when I played The Covenant, kept a single shot on my
Spartan laser through the entire mission, went on the side of a hornet, and blew away the back of a scarab from midair. God Halo 3 is fucking legendary
5:39 has been my ringtone for the past 8 years lmao
You're absolutely right. The Covenant is the best Halo mission ever made. They hit every single story beat in Halo, every faction's climactic peak, harkon back to Alpha Halo, ending Truth just to remind you that the Gravemind is still a threat to be dealt with... A masterclass in level design.
Im pretty sure that the song at the end of midnight is called arrival, also i love the entrance to the end of midnight when jump on the lift and you float to the other side or the middle of the mantle. It was a really good screenshot and perfect wallpaper for a computer
After playing DMC, hearing people talking to Virgil seems so jarring to me
favourite mission new alexandria, hate library, most of reach levels are amazing
I honestly dont understand why he has such a problem with Reach gameplay, way better than halo 4 and 5's gameplay and story imo not a single halo 5 mission should rank above any of Reach's missions
Confused me the entire video
Tbh halo 4-5 gameplay is so bad that no bungie halo level should be below in ranking just for that alone
about the eye strain advert, guys there are options that can be enabled on your phones and possibly PC, that restrict blue light usage. If you experience eye strains or headaches its a good idea to turn those features on.
I always loved how sacred icon showed you later parts of the level as you played thru it
New Alexandria should have belonged in S tier for it being a super explorable mission with some of the coolest Easter eggs in halo imo
14:07 always loved this level, going out in space to fight the jet pack elites & the music was amazing
im so happy you put uprising in S+ tier. growing up i always loved that mission and felt it was probably the best halo 2 level. i love the music and the atmosphere when you first get teleported in, that absolute vastness and beauty of halo is showcased here. also the dying elites on the ground are speaking to you and fighting alongside the other elites I felt this strong sense of brotherhood. very hype.
They should make a snow level playlist for Christmas in mcc.
It’s always funny to hear it but I’ve never known WHY he says it
If someone were to ask me, "who do you think is the most excited about Halo content..."
I would definitely say, this guy right here.
Honestly all Arbiter missions for me are great, so one of those gotta be my fav. He added depth to the series that nobody else could ever.
"The ark is hands down one of the levels in halo"
Couldn't agree more
I have to share your love of Assault on the Control Room. Back before I truly knew the series and just played co-op at my friend's house that mission always stood out for me.
about nmpd headquarters, he said that it doesnt have any standout moment, but is one of the only defensive missions
"I do really love the Package, quite a lot." - HiddenXperia
two betrayals and gravemind are my favorite halo levels of all time. i'm glad you gave them their deserved credit
Library isn't bad it's just...exhausting. Which is kind of crazy considering you're sitting playing a game but, there it is.
The track in midnight is called Arrival, love it so much
My favorite mission of all time is assault on the control room. The first 7 levels of CE are S+
48:20 think the music is called Arrival
117 is the music at the start of the level in the broadsword section
you know, watching this I realsied I can't remember a lot of infinites levels - they all blended together because aesthetically they were so similar I find it so hard to remember specifics
Same. Halo Reach had each level be very different from the rest which is what made it so unique and memorable
I will never understand why anyone enjoys halo 4’s story
I don't know why but I would love to see a tier list of your favourite Halo scrapped ideas or cut content
I’m curious as to why you don’t think enemies are fun to fight in Reach because it’s my personal favourite Halo game.
Me and my best mate played Halo 3: ODST, start to finish, all night. Hearing Buck say “what can I say? It was a hell of a night” as the sun was about to rise hit so hard
Yo it be real cool to see a video on the current status on the fleet of Particular Justice, and classifying each ship in the fleet their capabilities production stats and how many of each ship were there
42:00 and the song ‘traffic jam’
Listen to the full version to ascend
Blue Team is def one of my favorite Halo levels. Cool to see it get love.
Pretty interesting video, nice job! I definitely would have had an F tier just for The Breaking. I think you make a really good point with The Library though, it's definetly meant to be a draining mission; very underrated.
Someone probably already said this but the song you are thinking at the end of Midnight is “Arrival”
The music you're wondering in the Halo 4 Midnight last section is Arrival by Neil Davidge. It's my favourite Halo 4 track its so good!
1:20:07 Bro, the SPEED at which that chief flew
I didn't know that cutscene with Truth was legendary exclusive. My first playthrough of ODST was on legendary
I can't help but love basically any Covvie-themed level lol so you can tell which are my favorites.
I believe the dialogue between the elite medic and wounded should bring up that levels tier, it’s one of the most detailed conversations In a halo game
I love the mission gravemind because I love seeing the covenant fighting each other
Did anyone else notice that in lone wolf you could find the bodies of other people that died.
Finding ppl who know about Turok Evolution are so far and few really. Such a great game
that coolant from keyes is mountain dew baja blast.
I love how for the Reach levels, you’re still using Vadam’s mod.
Your instance of Halo Reach looks...different? 😳
High Charity and Halo (Halo CE) are my favorite campaign missions
someone that gives Uprising the respect it deserves. I would replay that mission so many times when I was a kid
My favorite has to be the covenant. So much action, emotion, story, awesome boss fight, and music
"It's like a postcard! Dear Sarge, kicking ass in outer space. Wish you were here!"
My S tier mission in all the main lines halo games is:
Halo CE: Truth and Reconciliation, Silent Cartographer, and 343 guilty spark
Halo 2: Uprising, Gravemind, and Outskirts
Halo 3: The Covenant, Tsavo Highway, and Floodgate
Halo 3 ODST: Uplift Reserve, Mombasa St, and NMPD HQ
Halo Reach: Nightfall, Exodus, and Tip of the Spear
Halo 4: Infinity, Dawn, and Composer
