In todays video we take resin art to a super cheap fondant mold that many of us have probably never given a second look!...
In this second part we use holographic foils alongside the Cat Eye Gels to create an absolutely mind blowing piece of Resin Art! My Best resin art creation yet.... I know.... I say that a lot! 😂

As someone who's been making jewellery with nail products for over a decade, Ive only ever used nail products in uv resin... because "uv resin" is basically nail hard gel, consistency is a bit different. It's not really a resin, like epoxy is, just lacks a better name. I'm a certified nail technician and my friend owns an epoxy company. So our product chemistry knowledge is on point 😊 I remember years ago when I used nail foils to make jewellery, it's so fun to reveal, like a temporary tattoo. Which can also be used in uv resin. Should give a try if you haven't yet. 👍🏼
Yes, have recently been playing with tattoos, they are good fun with foils behind too 🤩
The foil stuff is normally on the inside curve of the roll of foil strips. great effect x

I mark an T with a Sharpie on the 'up' (top) side of that Nail Foil or on Transparents...
@@daniel..cooperHey Daniel! The piece of foil tape you cut off looks like it wants to curl up - the inside surface of the curl is the bottom surface that you want to stick to the resin.
Yep, it’s the inside of the curve like others said. If you ever forget, think of it like tape: the protective coating goes on the outside of the curve while the transfer goes on the inside to prevent it from getting scratched.
I have an idea , you could place a mini wireless led light in the forehead of that and see if it will light up wirelessly :) that would be kewl .

Absolutely stunning Daniel 👍👍. Quickest way for me to check the right side of nail foils is with a small piece of magic tape.

Determining the correct side to place down on nail foils is simple. It's always rolled to the inside so it isn't damaged accidentally. If you cut it and can't remember which side was inwards, just check which way the plastic naturally wants to curl and that will let you know. It's not hard unless you keep it weighed down with something to flatten it, then you might have some trouble. 😅
The effect of the nail polish behind it really is fabulous though. Nicely done! 😍👍

They are brilliant! As for nail foils, imagine it’s a roll of sticky tape. The side that would be sticky is the side that has the image. That’s how I remember anyway.
But was the image not on both sides?

Easiest way to find the side you need to put down, on translucent foils, is to use a small piece of tape : lay it on the end , rub it on and pull it off. The side that goes down will have the pattern pull off, then use a sharpie on the side that ges up, just write "up " ,and next time youre teady to go. I've jeard pulling your glove along the sides will tell you as wee,... The side that goes down will have some drag, where the up side won't.

Daniel Cooper😮How did u hear my conundrum keeping me awake at night for months😮asking anyone that would potentially have the answer about “HOW THE HELL DO U KNOW WHAT SIDE IS THE RIGHT SIDE WHEN USING CLEAR HOLOGRAPHIC NAIL FOILS?!” Crickets! After trying them a few times I just put them away hearing them call to me from my art studio saying that they’re magical & want to live in every resin project possible😂Resin being expensive I refuse myself from experimenting so in case I do it wrong! However the fact u not only pulled out the identical foils & then do a combo with the cat eye magnet in the same video… convinced me u heard my brain stirring! Next to my foils is a cat eye kit with an assortment of magnets, each having their own fx (flower pattern etc.) HOW DID U KNOW😂U combined both of them in the coolest resin art project & gave my entire being solace🎉❤😊That was really sneaky sneaky not telling us that ur a mystical sorcerer with telepathic powers!😂Sadly I don’t have the answer to the great mystery of what’s the front/back of the foils but have a suggestion. Label the end of the strip with a “F” using sharpie so u don’t have to waste little bits/time. I’ve heard u can use a piece of scotch tape/packaging tape on a bit & the correct side will transfer onto the tape😮
I haven’t tried it, but maybe it helps? Have u tried any of the other cat eye magnet shapes? Should do a video trying them if not & of course add in the foils😊

I imagine the right side of the foil would be on the underside of the roll, in order to protect it from scratches. So, the same side that would be sticky, were it cello tape.

The underside of your foil roll is the side that goes on the nail/face, nail foils are amazing for resin work ( and nails ), I love them.
I think you did 3 coats on your last face but I could be wrong, I frequently am 😂

I’m a retired nail technician and I still have a ton of stuff like this I can use in my resin creations so thank you for that. In answer to your question on the right or wrong side of foils, the right side is usually on the inside of the rolls. Saying that you’ve worked it out anyway lol x

I'm a diy nail fanatic. The inside curvature of the roll goes down. So like, if it was a roll of tp, the part that would be facing the cardboard roll. There's a foil glue you can get that you apply to the piece, nails for me, resin for you, then cure it and you stick the foil to it and press down then pull the plastic up and only the design stays down.

I did the first face on the tray. Really cool! I just love what you come with. For the foils you can use painters tape and put it on a corner. If it comes off, the you know what side. If it doesn’t come off, you still know what side.

Hi Dan, I don’t know if you’ve seen them or if it would work but I bought a holographic chocolate mould that puts that effect on anything you put in it. There’s loads of different styles and I think you could do wonders with them. The moulds are brilliant and even make normal chocolate have a “ rainbow “ effect on it. With your creativity, imagination and passion, the world is your lobster 🦞.

Hi thanks for the great idea. Normally the nail foils are matte on the side you stick them on but you can also test it with a q-tip and isopropyl. And they are rolled with the underside/ side to stick inside
