I do almost all my maintenance myself because I enjoy the time with the bikes.I have 3. To me it's part of the bike ownership enjoyment. I own the proper tools and shop manuals. I know not everyone enjoys this aspect of motorcycles but for me it is rewarding. That's why I enjoy your channel and yes the do's and don't is great.I would love more. I would love to see more on the little mechanics tricks too, like you did in the past. Thanks Doc!
Totally agree and add some more accolades to your show & its presentation. A detail wash of your bike is a great way to discover that loose wire connection, the missing bolt or a nefereous leaking gasket when you least expect it, usually on a run when you can least afford the time to tend to it. Keep up the info-vestment, besides fresh oil its about the least expensive guaranteed resource for a schmick ride.Rubber to the road.
Keep em coming Doc I am always up for learning new things and different ways of fixing the bike I love. For me, doing my own bike work is part of the whole experience and frankly, Im a poor boy and can't always afford to farm it out.
Doc........thank you, thank you, thank you for the drain plug sealant advice !!!!!!!! I didn't realize I've been missing so important for so many years. Please keep up with the Do's and Dont's
Never use pipe dope on drain plugs myself. The 0-ring is what does the sealing. Also, the factory service manual makes no mention of using sealant on the drain plug threads. Finally, torque specs for drain plugs are for DRY threads, use the same torque on a plug with sealant on the threads and you will over-tighten the plug.
Keep them coming, people do not know how to read manuals anymore , or I should say take the time ! People want instant gratification now days , when you spend the money on a nice bike , do it the right way , thanks for sharing
I have said it many times regarding Harley-Davidson owners that are amateur mechanics and go half assed on their repairs that we tend to give HD a bad name with our failures.
Years ago I had a fuel line pop off inside the tank of my 04 Road King due to previous owner using safety wire instead of a clamp on line to fuel pump. No fun breaking down due to someone being cheap.
I got a Jagg oil cooler for my 2010 Superglide C. The kit came with the worm style clamps. I was very dissapointed as it wasn't cheap! I used the proper fuel line clamps.
Doc, you da man I listen to you’re advise please keep them coming. Newbie to Harley Davidson and I’m glad that I found you. Thanks for your knowledge and insight.
I always thought the pipe thread sealant was for the old plugs without o-rings. I haven't used it yet. I'll get some for the next service cause I trust your advice.
Stellar idea, the more we can learn the better. I just started as a Jr. Tech for Harley Davidson, not too long ago. The more I can learn to become a better tech, the better we can service bikes and have happy customers!
Doc Harley.. Love the Do's and Don'ts videos. Never understood why people will spends thousands on a a vehicle and the cheap out when it comes to replacing simple parts or they reuse old parts.
Great tips! Glad I learned about those pinch clamps - thanks Doc, great series idea. And thanks @ Boosted Twin Cams re star washers for the battery terminals.
I’d rather send my bike to a trained professional for service and look around the dealership for a little while while it’s there but in todays world it looks like I’ll be in training to do some this stuff myself. I’m sure we all appreciate your knowledge, you haven’t steered me wrong yet so huge thanks for that!
Thank you for your do's and don'ts I am a new rider and know nothing about working on a Harley. I will be working on my own bike whether I know what I'm doing or not. Your simple videos give me hope. Thanks Again Doc.
Please keep these do's and dont's videos coming. I enjoy watching them and even learn 1 or 2 things along the way. Knowledge is power and we all want more power..... don't we?
This is very educational thank you for making this. I'm going to get a sportster some time this year and I want to my own work like how I work on my truck.
A dab of dielectric grease on those exhaust bushings when you install them does wonders for making it easier to get them back on as well as it won't decay the rubber.
Sounds like the voice of experience,
Nothing is a substitute for experience.
Definitely have put my time in…Doc
Please keep doing these.
LOL, I loved the loctite on the battery bolts. Never heard that one before.
You did not listen, he Said Do Not Use loctite on batterybolts. 😅
Nothing like listening to someone with intelligence and experience, one of my go to channels!
Thank you for your support….Doc

In a pinch I have used side cuts and/or knippers to tighten those hose clamps. I am not saying that is proper, but in a pinch
I really appreciate videos like this. Keep them coming, and thanks for the great content
Good information, especially the hose clamps, they look like hell and scream " I was in a hurry".
Thanks Doc. I also use a light dab of anti seize on the derby cover screws, and be sure to use the correct torx bit! Close is not good enough!
Great tech tip…Doc

Great tip....Doc
Do's and don'ts from someone with your experience are always welcome.
Fantastic Info Doc! Keep it rippin.👊
I’ve actually had good luck with screw type hose clamps. If they do leak just tighten them up.
Sooner or later the clamp will cut into the hose. The hose gets soft when hot
