Just got over 100 miles today in this exact same colourway of the Peg 40. I got on OK with the 39 and TBH the 40 feels pretty much the same so it feels like I just bought the same shoe again but in a colour I liked the look of. Agree it is not very exciting but I have struggled a bit in ultra soft shoes like the Invincible so the fact the Pegs are firmer is sort of helpful to me and way cheaper of course. I think you can get them 25% off right now. Back in my mind there is also an element of doing easy “daily training” runs in standard shoes and then it makes slipping into faster ones on faster days seems more easier.

Yeah I think we all get spoiled by the super stacked shoes , in the 80 and 90’s we got along well with low cushion shoe that were comfortable . I’m still a big fan of the Pegasus for almost every run accept maybe a race👍

I love the Pegasus line. I have other shoes in my rotation but for easy runs with some strides I often go with the Pegasus. It has good grip in the rain. I like its outsole even on some gravel roads. It has never disappointed. I agree that it is not good for any speed work or marathons, but I still enjoy having them in my rotation. Great review Ben!

I got the Pegasus 39’s just over 2 weeks ago, my first investment into more serious shoes… gonna run a half marathon soon, and I’ve just noticed how comfortable they are compared to some of the generic Nike shoes you find at a $50-70 price point. I like them a lot; they’re solid and comfy shoes for me. Will be with me for many runs.

I'm def happy with the consistency in the Pegasus range, knowing that I can pick-up a new version (at the Nike outlet) and don't need to worry that it's going to be totally different. And I'm def a bargain runner, who wants to get that 1000k out of a shoe. Will be popping by the Nike outlet at the weekend, to see what bargains I can get on the 38s and 39s :)

Way better than my Structure and Air Ghost Racer.

They're not very propulsive or snappy. In fact they have zero propulsion or bounce. Also too firm for me in the forefoot for me for anything over 13km.
Just a boring but hard-wearing shoe. The fit and heel lockdown is very good.
I got a pair of Hoka mach 5s and was blown away at the difference in responsiveness

Been a big fan of Pegasus since the 37s. Unlike most commenters here I didn’t enjoy the 38s. On my third pair of 39s now and feel nervous to try the 40s as have loved my 39s so much. I used to be loyal to Asics but compared to Nike Pegasus I don’t feel they have durability. I’m an overpronator and change my shoes every 500-600k to avoid injury and I like the reliability of the Pegasus shoe.

Got the 38 for the cool look and for dressing with work clothes, and discovered they are the most comfortable shoes for walking I've ever owned. Feet never gets tired! My go to for holiday shoe now. Versatile, robust and comfy. Will replace with another Peg when this one dies. But not the same for running, they are a dog to run in.. much prefer my Asics novablast/glideride, Hoka Mach, Puma Deviate, NB Rebel for a lot more pop and speed.

The one thing I love about the Pegasus that is disappointingly rare in most training shoes is the well-designed outsole. It lets you dip on to some unpaved trails without feeling like you're taking your life in your hands if there's a damp patch. It's my standard for outsoles and it's ridiculous how few training shoes measure up to it (*cough* non-TR Novablast). It doesn't bother me if the Pegasus is heavier than other shoes and not as springy. No one's giving out medals for going fast on training runs, so speed just isn't important. The most important quality of a training shoe is that it is comfortable to run in and the Pegasus fits that bill for me.

I have probably ten pairs at the moment of all versions. I keep the older ones for speedwork because they are lighter, but I’m becoming more aware that they are not helping my aging body on the long Sunday runs. Ben said it. There’s just no response. I bought a pair of Peg 39s last winter and used them to train for a couple 10ks. When I was running 20-25 mpw, the Peg 39 felt fine to me. The step in comfort was really nice and I loved the upper, but I wasn't a big fan of the air pods, which I could 'feel' under my forefoot. When I started training for a half marathon and needed to safely build mileage to ~40mpw, I opted for a much more fun max cushion shoe plus a speed/tempo shoe. Love the channel Ben.

I was a bog fan of the pegasus line, until I was a 6 min /km runner, now trying my wings around 4:30 it is holding me back, as you said, it is slow. What could be a good, durable, well-priced but faster alternative for me?

It's the only running shoe out of the 6 different running shoes I have bought in the last 2 years that I dont really like. As you say it just feels dull compared to most shoes out there now. I bought some for my wife too at the same time and she doesnt like them much either.

No more pegsus again for me....
1 cm heel drop and loss air pocket feel after 200 km is the reason...🙏

First time buying a proper running shoe since I was in the high school track team and they are amazing for standing all day at work! Now I can finally do math without worrying about the pain in my legs! 🙂

Thanks for the review Ben. In terms of your comment about the Pegasus 40 lacking any noteworthy innovation, is there any particular running shoe out there that you think has acheived this over the last few years?

Pretty much everyone else has a solid daily shoe, using some engaging responsive foam in them.. but Nike stick with their react foam which is so old now and behind the times.. Asics Novablast 3, Hoka Mach 5, Puma Velocity Nitro are much better shoes that have come in recently and really make people notice them!

Just bought a pair. I loved my 38's and used them into oblivion, more than 3M steps in those, and I still use them for jump rope. The 41's just got released and I think they're pretty ugly.

Thanks for the Video Ben and for struggling through the likes but the dislikes are really all we need to listen to for this one. Another lazy boring don’t care about the everyday runner offering from Nike.
Buy the Reebok energy float ride 5 instead already discounted down to £60ish 100% better shoe.

Nike being very lazy! I put 500+ miles into my 39's on easy and long run days but would like bit more innovation. Still have two old pairs of the 32's and they were a better shoe than 39

Ben, rather than selling on eBay you should return them to Nike.
Nike’s return policy “We design our shoes and gear to help you perform at peak level, so if they're not working exactly right for you, we've got you covered. We give you 30 days to take your Nike purchases for a trial run, confidently knowing you can return items (some exceptions apply) for any reason within those 30 days. “
For your reviews do a trial run within 39 days and if they aren’t going into your rotation return them to Nike. Well done to Nike for this policy

Is the tongue really short? My Peg 38 has ok tongue length. And where is yours made? Just bought this off sale, the all-black, made in indonesia. And i’m disappointed, the left tongue seems shorter than the right. Also with the 38 as soon as i wear it, i feel it hugging my feet right away even when not laced up. With this 40, i don’t get that nice feel right away, and the heel part of the upper material, it seems stiff. Lacing up the 38 would give a nice snug fit, this one doesn’t. And the left shoe, something does not feel right.

Pegasus is like iphone . They don’t change that much to the pegasus line up as they know people would still buy the shoe . Pegasus was never a bad shoe it is just people expect more from Nike to improve the pegasus.
I have never purchase any pegasus show before.

Thanks for the review. Nike still using old mid form, adding weight and removal of flywire is a mistake. Also the design looks so boring. I will move to buy Novablast 3 for a tryout as heard good reviews of much lighter shoe and much exciting ride .
