  • This week we’ve got this cream puff 1950 International L-110 pickup truck, it’s been sitting abandoned and forgotten for 33 years! Let’s see if we can get it running and driving again, and put it back on the road!

    You should add family days in your truck!
    I felt like I was riding with my dad in his old truck. Thank you.

    nice, you find the most rare and interesting trucks for sure :), interesting about the Generator Technology back then, when I was like 11 yrs. old in the late 70's my science Teacher in school talked about vintage Car Generators and had one spinning by giving it power in our class, then explained the reverse when using it as a Generator and polarizing it because back then They didn't use permanent magnets, so summer during summer a bunch of us kids were out in the woods and found some really old cars abandoned with no hoods and one had one of the generators loose sort of and I wanted it to experiment with so try to remove it with no tools and I disturbed a wasps nest, well I got stung several times on my hands and never was able to remove it, the pain was unbearable I remember, so when I watch your videos and see old trucks you are trying to show and start in a field I cringe when I see wasps flying around you :)

      It does seem like every single one of these old rigs has a couple wasp nests in them. I’m not sure why, but I usually don’t pay attention to them, and they don’t seem to bother me.

    For a truck that looks original from 1950, it sure looks and runs pretty well. Those were definitely simpler times when those trucks were built with no soundproofing, hardly any modern conveniences. Puddin's Fab Shop would be looking for any old International truck in that condition!

      I agree, this truck is so basic and simple, I think we might end up completely redoing this truck in the future. Had some other local folks comment on how rust free and good of shape this one’s in.

    I like how the bonnet opens both sides & can be completely removed - good design! Given how "easily" you got it running, and there does not seem to be much wrong with it, it makes me wonder why it stopped being used all those years ago? A nice looking truck! Thanks for sharing, greetings from the UK!

      Thank you! It seems as though it most likely got parked and left where it was sitting at some point due to its age, or maybe a project that someone thought they would get to at some point.

    you have to remember that a generator usually only works at higher rpm most of the time .

    • @Rustwrangler
      @Rustwrangler  26 днів тому

      Yea I definitely had to figure that out. Didn’t realize it until I tested it with the choke pulled out and it was idling at a higher rpm.

    I owned and drove a 1954 (iirc) R-110 Series International. Easiest thing to use IF you took care of the basic maintenance.

    When you look at the hot mess that Navistar makes today it’s hard to believe that they once made simple, reliable, and extremely durable engines .
