It's disrespectful to watch a channel and not subscribe! It doesn't cost anything nor does it obligate you to anything. It just supports the channel and helps the people who spend their money and time making the videos that you like to watch. these guys earn it. And if they've kept you entertained or engaged for the video. It ain't gonna hurt you to hit the like button. They've earned that too.
Today I’d agree with you on the 120 thousand, but then, trucks weren’t usually driven like we do today, they didn’t run to Walmart and McDonald’s every day…..
Driving a truck like this was hard work, especially on the rough roads they had back in the day. 50,000 miles in one of these is like 300,000 in a modern vehicle.
Working with your father can be pleasant and fun, or miserable and aggravating. My father and I do carpentry, flip homes, build decks, do landscaping... That kind of thing. He's broad strokes, work fast, see the project being completed. I love the meticulous small things. Taking the interior out of my car to deep clean it every couple years, making sure everything fits perfectly, figuring out the why and how. It's nice you two have similar interests and goals and can have a back and forth like 21:47. I like many, am enjoying watching the two of you work and rebuild things together.
Great trk. I had a old dodge pickup Iam 76 years old I got to see all the old cars growing up. No computers just good old basics. I've had alot of the old cars . Really like the idea of you and your Dad saving thes old cars and trks.
Travis and his Dad: Sitting together on the tailgate of a pickup. @16:04 What a great moment preserved for prosperity. Father and son side by side as it should be.
Awesome channel. I really enjoy seeing the 40, 50s model trucks. Keep up the great work! You and your father make a great team! My late father and I were best friends and we worked on everything together..trucks, tractors, dozers etc. he’s been gone 15 years now. Treasure what you have there together!
Amazing how suspenseful it is when that engine is turning over and almost running...I was thinking, "Come on, come on...please start so I can breathe easy again!"
The 49 is going to take a little work. You men do a great job on this old Iron. And your dads body work is awesome on El Camino The 46 International is cool. Parts I can see going to be tough. Thank you for sharing! ❤️💯
Hope you guys get another chance to get that old Dodge running. Such a cool truck. Kuddos to Daddy Rick on the El Camino body work. It's looking great.
Ill say the coolest thing is that you are fortunate to work this project with your dad, I wish i could work my projects with my Papa RIP dad I miss you ❤
That tail fin ERASES any possible “disappointment” I would have over not getting that Dodger started. I never appreciated beat up old trucks before you folks showed me how cool they could be. Not even “Mater” from “Cars” could make me like rusted old hulks, lol. Mahalo for another super video. I know the Sun is unrelenting out there and that you couldn’t bring Boo with you, but maybe you just needed a pinch of his supervision and inspiration, lol. Take care and Aloha to all three of you.❤
That's a cool old truck! I miss Arizona. I use to live in Thatcher right outside of Safford and also Prescott Valley. Someday I'll make it back to visit family
Greetings from West Michigan. I enjoy your videos. Staying tight to a budget and being creative in getting those rusty treasures going again. I especially like the '60 El Camino project. Your Dad, Rick is working some magic with his metalworking skills. Good luck and keep the videos coming. 👍
This is beyond cool. I hope the subscriber comes through with the door and other parts you need. I can see tons of content coming onto youtube. Please be safe.
This has become one of my top 5 favorite channels to watch. I can’t wait to see more about this ‘49 Dodge, and thank you for the updates on the El Camino and the ‘46 International! Keep up the great work!🙂🙂🙂🙂
The last conversation I had with my dad was him wanting to build this truck. He was very detailed about what he wanted. 225 slant 6/904 automatic. He preferred the 3 on the tree but had just had hip replacement and couldn't clutch. 2 days later I got the call that he had passed. I want one of these in his honor.
28:12 you have a great channel here - the interaction between you and your dad is amazing. You work on the types of vehicles I love. I hope to hear this old Dodge flat six run soon.
I've got a 48 dodge truck myself. Have yet to wrench on it. Good to see you getting after this one. It's givin me the kick I needed to start on my project. As always great video!
First thing on a points carb car to do. CLEAN THE POINTS. ALWAYS! LOL. GREAT VIDEO! Thank you for the fun! You know that BMW in the background would be a lot more popular and a lot more fun. But keep up the videos!
It's pretty amazing how similar the Dodge is the the IH of the same year. I still own my KB2, like the one you worked on, but no longer own my old 1953 Dodge-same engine as the 49 you're working on now. Both trucks should have a provision for a hand crank through the grille, just below the radiator.
Loyal follower here. I love what you guys do! A old timer told me about a trick with these Dodge Flat Heads that have been sitting for a long time. Add some ATF down the Carb when cranking it or while it is running not much just a wee bit. I loosens the Valves up usually. I have a 53 Dodge Pilot House Era like yours except it is a 1 ton with a 237 CI engine. A little higher RPMs but you are correct yours should be the 230. 👍👍
Hi Travis and Rick,,Max and I hope you got our common it seems to have gotten lost but anyways great video.. we are watching your video on our phone 📱..
Great vid. Halfass Customs have a unique way of getting the compression up for starting. He puts it in gear and drags it around the yard with a forklift for half an hour. Seems to work. Probably would break a bent valve though.
You two need to find an old wrecker, you guys could load it with everything you need to do the job, generator, fuel, first aid kit, snake bite kit, lol. You would look good in a rat rod wrecker.👍
If you look at the shackles either a full size Chevy half ton OBS or an S10 shackle should work in replacement for the shackles that are on it right now that are rotted
Great job on the Chevy El Camino body work, I do not see any problem using the olds door for the Chevy. You tried to find someone that needed the door (s) without success. 👍
Hey Travis Love this channel, and i love the cars and truck thats not rusted out like all the old cars where i'm living, keep up the good work . Gretings from Sweden 😊
Better to reuse the door skins for the rear quarters than let the doors rot or get scrapped. Never seen BF Goodrich spark plugs before, that was really cool
Surprised to hear that the plugs are B.F. Goodrich, I had never seen or heard that they had spark plugs with their name on them, Chrysler used Autolite for their ignition parts (this was prior to Fords ownership)
Hello my friend. This old dodges real tough to wake up LOL. So what was the verdict on the door about the 46 International. I can't wait to see that thing going up and down the highway. And I love those old Chevy videos to❤ you keep turning the video and I'll keep giving a thumbs up LOL.😊

Really enjoy this content. Love the interaction with dad and son. "Work that throttle!" "I am!" Love it.
Love this channel. Please see these trucks through, or do more on your stuff. Not enough channels finishing projects.
You don’t have to worry about me. I will keep watching a video with old cars and a father son team. Not to mention I love the El Camino.

What a great relationship you and your dad have , i wish it could have been like that with my dad😢
Great to see the ‘46 International again. One of my favorite trucks on anybody’s channel. Can’t wait to see the next video on it!

I see wheel studs with lug nuts. That means 3/4-ton. Half tons had wheel bolts. That is a great find!
Oh man nice work on the El Camino guys. That looks amazing 👌 you guys are doing the right thing by repurposing old parts👍 love that international.
If it was up to me, I'd pull the day light's out of it till it ran.
If the tires woulda held air ida tried
As you were panning around, explaining that you were in the middle of nowhere, I was half expecting an AutoZone to appear in the background 😊
Always a good time seeing what you find

You're so lucky to have this passion to share with your dad!
Yes very lucky

I had N 8 volt battery in my 1940 Pontiac. Worked great.
On the Dodge use a 12 volt battery and a resistor to send 8 volts to the coil make the spark a little hotter
First thing on a points carb car to do. CLEAN THE POINTS. ALWAYS! LOL. GREAT VIDEO! Thank you for the fun! You know that BMW in the background would be a lot more popular and a lot more fun. But keep up the videos!
Keep up with that international truck

Can't believe what a great job your dad did on that Chevy nice
Pretty insane . Looks so good
I never knew there was such a thing as an 8 volt battery. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Not very common yea
Thanks for the update on the El Camino and international truck.
Kept a can of ether behind my seat for days like you're having. Never failed me.
My Dad had a '49 dodge pickup like that one. Would be cool to see the old girl running again
Cool old truck. We had a B F Goodrich in my old town funny. Thanks from. Sc.
I have a 1939 Ford Delux 4 Dr, I run a 8 vet battery in it. Works great
You should drive the truck into a city where fans can go and take a picture with it for only 5 bucks each!
For $5 I want a ride in it
Really enjoy your Channel. Greetings from Florida.
Thanks for viewing from Florida. Want to make it there someday soon
Kool old skool Dodge, nice patina. I never heard of an 8 volt battery.

Yes I saw !
You seemed upset??
So close, If it would have fired up and gone through a heat cycle, I think it would've fixed the compression issue. Nice job on the El Camino too.

You can pull the plugs and spray into the valve seats on a flathead. You can also reach the top of the valves with a screwdriver and try to move them.
Surprised to hear that the plugs are B.F. Goodrich, I had never seen or heard that they had spark plugs with their name on them, Chrysler used Autolite for their ignition parts (this was prior to Fords ownership)
