This video is for entertainment only. Should you wish to try shot in your muzzleloaders, your results may vary. If you try this experiment, when cleaning afterwards, be sure to attach a brush to the ramrod, run it in and out of the barrel a few times to ensure all pellets are removed from the rifling in the barrel. Thanks for watching.
That was awesome. Yes I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that pistol with shot. Nasty. The Honda bbl barrel 50 pistol in flint would be fun to shoot.
@@markfair7648 I wouldn't want to get hit by that either. Definitely an "ouch" moment! Thanks or watching....
LMAO! You redefine primitive black powder shooting! Nicely done!
I'll try about anything wacky as long as it is safe, Thanks for watching...
I’ve never seen anyone hate La Croix as much as you, Mr. Mark. Lol, great video, Sir!
Hmmm, I'll take that as compliment?? LOL Thanks for watching...
I had fun watching this Mark! That 7.5 shot works great at that distance, and even the wind had fun knocking down the cans!
Yes..that surprised me too.
An idea for a future video, it might be worth putting a sheet of paper up and checking the spread. It would be an interesting experiment.
I'll do just that sometime, thanks.
great Video BPMS. Raining today in jersey so no shooting for me.....GRRR. Have a Pedersoli 45 cal flintlock w/engraved stock and barrel. It belonged to my father and he gave it to me before his passing. Keep ur powder dry Sir.
Outstanding.....let me know how she shoots someday.
Odd that it seems to shoot harder and better with less shot. Interesting. Thank you for your videos.
I thought that was unusual too...Thanks for watching.
another good video Mark!
Thanks for watching....this one was fun putting together.
I always enjoy you videos Mark. They sure are swell, and enterntaing.
Thanks for watching my friend.....
Yes very swell indeed
Another great fun video!
Thanks for watching...
You have way too much fun when you go shooting! Nice video.
Thanks my friend....it is warming up ....meaning more fun stuff to post soon.
Well. that was fun. Thanks Mark.
It was fun one to try...I loved it!
I'm gonna totally do that! Awesome video, thanks again.
Its fun, I enjoyed shooting shot from that o' rascal I have. Thanks for watching...
Your experimental vids may not be very sophisticated. But they make a point ! And are fun to watch. Thanks again ! Now let the summer fun begin ! 😃
Bring on the warmer weather! I'm more than ready!
Enjoyed the video! Great stuff!! Be safe and have fun shooting.
Thanks my friend....I'm ready for warm weather!
I love your energy!
Aaaaagh, thanks for those kind words my friend....
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter no problem man keep up the amazing work
That was awesome! I have a 1858 Remington revolver that I've had for years it needs new nipples and seeing you do this makes me want to get it going again and Lord willing I will! Thanks for sharing this.
You are welcome....that one was fun to do. I LOVED it.
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter i love seeing experiments done like this I'll have to try something similar in the future.
@@yoderboys1 I have several more wild experiments on video and going to film another one Tuesday....possibly two. I love doing this stuff!
It does me good to see you doing this, having so much fun. This video and hearing about Rem. Ammo coming back, 2 best things so far this week.
YES....I'm ready to see more of everything come back regarding shooting sports! Thanks for watching...
That little pistol is surprisingly powerful and accurate from that distance. It's been years since I've never really done much shootingt so I guess who am I to say that. Anyway I always enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing it with us. Blessings to you and your family and I'll see you in the next one Mark.
It is a beast for factory pistol. Its heavy and I like that. I have a few more tests I'm going to perform with it soon. I can't wait to get started with them.
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter I really look forward to more videos to come. You'll see I had to edit my comment at the top. Auto correct goes completely wild on me at times.
That was pretty good
Thanks for watching....
I’ll bet there was a little bit of leading in the barrel. That said, it would make a great emergency squirrel or turkey gun. Thanks for another fun (and funny) video!
That's why I have that pinned post on this one. I did find some shot in the barrel when cleaning. Quick brush strokes took care of that. Thanks for watching....
That was surprisingly effective. Seems like it'd be perfect for snakes up close. I think with such a short barrel that the rifling had little effect on the spread. Awesome video.
Never thought of snakes.....YES, I think it would be devastating on them!
What I have always been told (and this applies to smoothbores) is more powder than shot. For example, seventy five grains volumetric measure of powder would equal about 1.1 ounces of shot. What I use in my fowler is a measure I made from antler that would hold seventy five grains of 2f powder to measure my #6 shot. Then I use 80 grains of 2f under the shot. I load the powder and then place two felt over powder wads, then the measure of shot and then use an over shot card.. Seems to work well. I have a taken squirrels at 25 yards with it. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding!! Thanks for watching...
You would have thought that more shot more devastation it would do. I was wondering with he breeze if the cans would stay standing! Great video!!
I thought so too...guess 30 grains of Swiss wasn't enough to use for that much shot. Its pretty devastating with the lessor amounts. Thanks for watching....
That really was very interesting. Apparently, the extra shot caused it to group together instead of spacing out and hitting a broader target area. Very cool. Hope you have some sugar free drinks so the bugs don't get you, lol.
I have plenty more of that "pop" to shoot. I'm saving most of it for the ladies to shoot. LOL. Thanks for watching...
Never thought of this but it was probably done back in the day. Many people only had one gun.
I bet you are correct! I would have used mine that way if I lived back then.
Have you tried loading these 'shot in rifle barrels' experiments, with a good felt wad between the powder and shot? That thin piece of cloth you put in there won't prevent the powder gases blowing right through the pattern of shot and spreading it way out. I'm going to try it in my .58 cal round ball barrel, but with 1/2" felt wad in there.
Yes..I tried shot in rifled barrels. Here is that fun video: ua-cam.com/video/Q1tb1vqVNcI/v-deo.html
That was fun! You should try some kind of a card or shot wad over the powder next time. No wonder the heavier load cost a lot of velocity and probably spread like fleas.
I bet that heavier load did too....Thanks for watching....
Hey, what did u use as an over powder wad? I have a 69 cal pistol and they don’t sell traditional wads for em.
I used simple round patch cut from muslim material. It is very thin material I use to keep the shot from rolling out of the barrel before shooting.
Hey Mark....try a square load like the old timers did in their shotguns.....
Square load? Hmm, I'm at a loss, what's that?
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter A square load is equal amounts of powder and shot by volume for example....I use a square load of one and a half ounces of powder and one and a half ounces of shot by volume in my double barrel 10 gauge shotgun....It's a method coined by the old timers....
@@TheGhostrider1959 Gotcha...I didn't know that's what it is called. Sounds like fun idea, I need to study that before trying it. Thanks for the idea.
Can I get exclusive rights to sell you canned soda? Looks like it would be a lucrative situation.
Yes! LOL. I'm running out of them. I only have 75-80 cases left!
What distance are you shooting from?
Max of 30 yards away. Thanks for watching.
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter it’s cool you took the time to figure out which load provided the best results. Typically, a good spot to start is to put as much shot as powder by volume. So you use 40 grains black powder, use 40 grains of shot. Conversely, going lighter is sometimes better for example 30 grains and 30 grains of shot. All depends on what works best for you.
@@martinwagnerproductions Amen brother...experimentation is part of the fun...!!
I would have thought more shot would have made more pressure
This test baffled me too...it was fun shooting it though..
What us the largest size shot you have done this with
#7.5 shot was all I used, it was all I had at the time. I've never tried anything larger. Thanks for watching...
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter do you think it could be done safely with small fishing weights
@@lawson9102 They have to be very very small to try that. Its probably wiser to get a smoothbore & load it up with fishing weights.
That would be fun on squirrels at close range.
I bet so...!
