    Great channel 👍 Oscar. I always forget the door jambs when I clean my car. With 2 young kids, we always have baby wipes stashed somewhere in the car and that's what I use with very good result. I literally use it on all the plastic and vinyl panels including the dashboard. No residue and unwanted chemical smells. It works!

    I personally did my door jams with a toothbrush and a cloth today, but my door jams were really bad! I needed that scrubbing to get the dirt loosened up. Seriously they were 🤮
    I never realised I was supposed to clean them, I always thought of them as exterior, but never clean them on the exterior either 😹🙈
    They definitely weren’t cleaned when I’ve had my car cleaned before, at least not all the way around, just the base on the car.
    I just detail cleaned my interior because I’ve been binge watching car cleaning videos thinking my car was really bad (spoiled it really wasn’t at all). And tbh I don’t know what I’ve been paying for when I get my car cleaned because there were white marks on the plastic parts I thought were stains (sunscreen I was struggling to get off), I scrubbed with a toothbrush today and they came out straight away 😂🧐
    Thanks for the motivation, and for leaving me guilt free because my car is now clean, and I’ve realised it was actually pretty clean, especially considering I have two dogs that go in my car on a regular basis too.

    So for a personal setup I will clean the door jamb with super clean diluted 5 to 1 & Microfiber, then wax it with Ethos Pro Wax. That way next time I clean it I will just hit it with a Meguiar's Quik Wax, or Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax.

    I do almost the exact same thing as you. My car is cleaned regularly, and so the door jambs are basically just a little dusty. So I spray on some Uber Rinseless Wash (instead of APC) and then wipe down with a towel.. If the little wiring harness accordion connector needs it, I might get out a brush.

    Great advice man and agree you shouldn't have to bust out the brushes every time. A question for you ! I plan on to routinely wash the car using a drive-through car wash and right now it will be around 3 minor car washes and 1 Extreme (wax.)per month I want to follow it up with cleaning door jams myself and spot cleaning body as well as a couple of interior cleans. What areas should I look out for and or add to my spot cleans that a car wash doesn't get at? Any of the "trolls" mention you dropping the brush on ground and re using it hahah

  • @blackstonedetail
    @blackstonedetail 5 років тому

    Within the past 3 months, my clients had door jambs that have been through World War III and back. Often times, I'll just employ the use of a generic hose with multiple spraying patterns so I can prevent any water from splattering into the interior. The hose is strong enough to remove any stubborn dirt and debris, yet the pressure is soft enough so as not to introduce excessive water, thereby inadvertently spraying the interior.

    This may be sufficient for a maintenance clean on a well maintained vehicle but on my personal car there is always some kind of grease or crud in the jambs and the seals especially around the bottom of the door. The gaskets and seals around the outside of my windows collect an incredible amount of dirt and I clean them semi-annually. But yeah, doing more work than is necessary or just to feel like a detailer lol is silly and inefficient.

    As shown in your video, people who get their cars washed once a month or more, often have door jambs that are fairly clean. However, many, many of us have dirty vehicles, the kind with old, dried, concrete-type crud in our door jambs, often competing for space with our collection of leaves, acorns, pine straw, pollen and other detritus. What do you suggest for quickly cleaning that stuff out, other than pressure washing or steam cleaning? Inquiring minds with dirty jambs really want to know.
    And, for those whose black plastic trim has faded or become dull, how does a professional detailer revitalize that plastic to bring it up to a “new car” condition?
    Thanks for the video and your tips.

    • @DetailGroove
      @DetailGroove  5 років тому

      ahah- good one! If you dont' have access to a garden hose, I'd use a water bottle and spray it to loosen up the dirt. Then spray APC and let it dwell. Then agitate or wipe down with a towel.
