I would add one other mod that I did on my Maxx V2; Get rid of the stupid (IMO) battery tray system and go with some good straps. I now can run any size battery that I want and they stay put. Excellent video.

I also have the V1 & V2 and these are really great trucks. Fast, durable, & my neighbors like them because they’re quieter than my Arrma’s…lol I know I know, but I have some really nose up to everything neighbors and these at least keep them in their houses when I just want to bash around the house. Especially with the Prolines on, man I’m telling those tires make less noise at least to me than the stock ones Another great video

I have been watching your vids and others but finally came to the realization that your bashing right in front of Little Bay in Rockport Texas, it was my home for 14 years. I still have two sailboats in storage down there. I just recently moved back to our land in East Texas which is why i'm buying a basher. 79 acres and a back hoe, I figure i can have some fun. Awsome upgr tip brother. The HR steeeing knuckles are on ma next list. Broken a few 🤣. Bout the metal cvds i agree..they are costy as few, but sure worth every $. Only downside is, the metal outdrives like ERe o 2.o are made of good 🧀🙈. I rehardened mknes and are now flawless 🥰

You can take a small grub screw and put in the male end of the axle to keep the glue from leaking then fill it with gorilla glue, makes them a lot stronger.
Nice bro very nice. I've found that the front and rear hubs are weak (replaced with aluminum Traxxas ones), the C hubs are weak (replaced with aluminum Traxxas ones), I broke one of the plastic ones driveshafts (replaced with steel CVDS from Traxxas, but now sure if that was necessary), replaced wheel hex ends with aluminum ones from REVO 2.0 (so that the steel CVDS can work), replaced ESC with Max 8 ESC (much better punch and power), replaced receiver with spectrum receiver, replaced spur gear cover with gpm aluminum one (motor kept shifting), replaced motor mount with aluminum one (motor kept shifting). So yeah lots of expensive upgrades 😅
@@thunderrc Well honestly $569 isn't that cheap. It's now worth well over $1k, which is more than a new Xmaxx, BUT my 1/5 electronics Xmaxx is WAY MORE expensive than a new Xmaxx (somewhere around $2k in upgrades and the price of the truck). I need the upgrades so that these things can take my 26ft plus jumps better and my occasional bad landings 🤣👍
It's cool to see what upgrades needs done to help make it as reliable as possible. For me I like to do the bare minimum to keep the vehicles as stock as possible. The oil mixture you have in the shocks seems pretty well sorted. I usually mix oils myself. Btw, I have the hub extentions and I love them.

On mine, I replaced the c-hub part with treal instead of the axle carrier. I figured I'd stick with the stock carrier since it pivots on the king pin and over time will wear. The OEM carrier is a lot cheaper to replace due to wear than an alloy one. With the treal c-hub, I haven't had one pop out since I installed them. Prior to that, they would pop out on me constantly.
Hey dont forget to add the aluminum toe links i got the hot racing steering bellcrank assembly with the over priced traxxas aluminum wide toe links steering is 100% better than stock no breakages and i deff bash hard i also run 80 wt in all shocks helps with the mega jumps 👍
I have no plans on ever getting a Maxx V2 or a used V1 at that, but i personally feel like that is a good platform for a Tekin RX8 ESC. I would in fact pick that ESC over a Hobbywing or a Castle Creations ESC myself and i like Hobbywing and Castle. Not sure why i would put the Tekin over the Hobbywing or the Castle. I just think it would perform really well in it.
Just got the steel cvd's on my WideMaxx v1. I've only used a 3s battery, and I still snapped the stock driveshafts. But to be fair I rally race it with 3.8 E-Revo wheels and 20t pinion.. maybe self-righting did it?
So pretty much upgrades like that if you plan on running your Max as if it were an airplane without wings…. Got it. But when you say you mix your shock oil- I don’t remember what mixture you said you put in the front but when you said you mixed 50 weight and 80 weight 50-50, what weight shock oil does that equate to in the end like, 75w or something?
Do you feel there was performance boost from the esc while still using 4s? You made it sound as if the vxl 4s was somewhat underpowered..I dont really want to get new battery packs at the moment but wouldn't mind swapping the esc.
sleepin on Vitavon. They've had steel axles for a while that are a big upgrade over the traxxas steel axles. Managed to mangle my traxxas and hot racing 6061 aluminum parts in one season so I've switched over to Vitavon on all the upgrades. Wish I went that route the first time lmao 🤑
With the Maxx since I'm from New York I send it everywhere in the Bronx, and this one time when I had the plastic hubs I managed to snap the stock king pins that came with the truck 🤣🤣🤣. So since I bought the captured hinge pins I went ahead and treated them with more heat and used transmission fluid to cool it off and it's been a whole hell of a lot stronger since doing that with aluminum hubs. I wanted to ask you too, what tires would you recommend if you walk around the city for 3 hours, the proline trenchers 3.8 LP or the badlands you have on your Maxx? Let me know please 🙏. Would the lighter oil float on top of the heavy oil inside the shocks? Could this be considered as two stage dampening?🤣 Any pros/cons to mixing oil like that?
THUNDER!!! Is there an extender for the Maxx V2 with the CV steel driveshaft? Looking at the Hot Racing stuff but not sure which one fits. The CV driveshaft has a hole for the pin but it doesn't have any threads for screws. Apologies I'm kind of a RC noob. Appreciate it!

Hey man thanks for asking. So the stick plastic hubs wear out quickly where the pins fit it to the casterblocks. When this happens every jump the pins will pop out of the hub. The metal HR hubs are solid and never fail.⚡👍

Replaced my C-hubs rather than steering blocks. C-hub always flexes causing the pins to pop out. Also got the captured pins for the arms and hubs.

For me what solved the kingpin pop out is the aluminum C hub and I still use the stock plastic bearing carriers.

they would mix, his rear shocks are basically now 68-ish weight and front is 57-ish weight since he did a 50/50 volume ratio

Hey man thanks for asking. So the stick plastic hubs wear out quickly where the pins fit it to the casterblocks. When this happens every jump the pins will pop out of the hub. The metal HR hubs are solid and never fail.⚡👍
Can you link what hubs and hub extensions and tires you have for your traxxas maxx.

No they are just firm. Good tires and still Ballon some.
