    In choosing the 8 best mattresses for 2024 we looked at the totality of all of our tests, scores, data, and reviews to date. We analyzed this data alongside our established best mattress framework here. The “best mattress” for each type is simply the top-scoring mattress for that respective category based on our data-driven scores.
    We made the choice to organize this “best of” list by popular mattress types (ex. hybrid, latex, memory foam, etc.).
    We thought this approach would be better, as it provides the absolute best option by type, allowing sleepers with different preferences to find the type and feel that works best for them.

      How many these mattresses have fiberglass? Or extruded silica? What do they use as flame retardant? Note: I know that’s three questions but the answer to the third one should suffice.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  3 місяці тому

      @@sethtenrec None contain fiberglass.
      Extruded silica, I'm unsure on that.
      Here's what makes up each mattress fire barrier layer (according to each respective brand's disclosures, FAQs, specs, and/or customer service reps):
      Winkbed = cotton and rayon blend
      Saatva Classic = plant-based thistle made of wood pulp bonded with small amount of polyester
      Amerisleep AS3 Hybrid = mesh fabric made from nylon
      Ghostbed Luxe = Not information provided except that it's CertiPUR certified and does not contain fiberglass
      Saatva Latex Hybrid = 100% organic wool
      Znehaven = 100% organic wool
      iSense Premier = non-woven kevlar
      Winkbed Plus = cotton and rayon blend

      @sethtenrec 3 місяці тому

      @@NapLabReviews thank you so much for the speedy reply! I’ve read that wool alone will not suffice, even if it’s organic, it’s treated. The same is absolutely going to apply to nylon and rayon, they are not a fire retardant in and of themselves. Some other chemicals are being added.
      The toxic materials, which also include adhesives, are the hardest thing to find out about mattresses. If your channel wanted to go into more depth on that, I think it would be wonderful information for consumers, but not easy to find since the mattress companies don’t want to reveal it.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  3 місяці тому

      @@sethtenrec My pleasure.
      I agree that some of these responses feel a bit thin. You're right, I don't know how nylon or rayon alone would suffice. Wool I haven't heard that it wouldn't suffice on its own. My understanding is that wool is generally considered the gold standard as far as health, safety, and effectiveness go.
      If other chemicals are being added they certainly aren't disclosing those anywhere. I cannot recall any mattress brand that I've ever seen disclosing that type of information.
      The material disclosures that the brands listed above provided are among the best I really ever see (excluding Ghostbed of course). Most brands disclose far less than this or simply refuse to disclose anything at all.
      I'll do some digging to see how I would go about finding that information. I too would love to be able to provide that information.

      Unfortunately, that's not a model we've tested.

    Where does the Saatva RX come in on your survey? Ty for the video.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  3 місяці тому +1

      RX is a fantastic mattress, earning a 9.70 / 10, placing it within the upper echelon of mattresses we've tested.
      It's only real weak spot is moderately higher motion transfer.
      Build quality and material quality are both extremely impressive, as is support. It's an expensive choice at $2.9K for a Queen. For many sleepers, they aren't likely to find the value as strong compared to Winkbed, Saatva Classic, Nolah Evolution 15, and a number of other high performance hybrids.
      However, for those with chronic pains I think the value can make more sense. As the total volume of high quality materials is more in the Saatva RX compared to many other mattresses on the market, allowing it to create incredible support.

    I have a Beautyrest BRS900 Extra Firm mattress, and it's starting to lose its firmness after only a year.
    My grandparents gave me a Simmons Ultra Firm mattress in 1992, and it lasted for 30.5 years before it started to sag. I got rid of it, but my parents still have one, and it's getting softer too.
    When I was a child and a teen, I had a unique lift-up bed, which was an MDF ottoman with an ultra-firm innerspring mattress attached to it with a metal frame. It was very durable and bouncy, with a heavyweight, rough, linen-like cover material. I made my daybed cozy with heavyweight linen sheets, duck feather pillows, and a dense cotton batting-filled duvet in a quilted heavy silk cover. The duvet was like a thin, moldable futon.
    I'm having a hard time finding something similar because that was in another country, and their market is not big online.

      I'm sorry to hear the Beautyrest is already losing its firmness. I'm sure that is extremely frustrating.
      If you like the extra firm feel you might take a look at the Plank Firm Luxe - naplab.com/mattress-reviews/plank-firm-luxe-review/
      It sounds like you'd enjoy the feel.

    Hello! New to ur channel. Glad i found it! Still watching this video, but I'm wondering if you have tried sleep number mattress? We are thinking of investing into one, but scared to make the same mistake of buying one that will continue to hurt our bodies. I am a side sleeper and my husband spends the night moving around so he's not even sure what type of sleeper he is. We currently own a medium foam mattress, and it's been a complete nightmare since 2016.. it was so expensive that we've dreaded buying a new one. But we have come to the conclusion that we NEED TO UPGRADE! Hoping you have reviewed the sleep number.. i am 5'4 and weigh 145 pounds, suffer from back, waste shoulder and knee pain, and my husband is 5'7 weighs 182 pounds, healthy but we both always wake up with headaches and body pain due to the mattress. We are terrified of purchasing and have been doing alot of research, found you video, and now im not sure what to do.

      I have tested the Sleep Number C2 (one of their less expensive models) - naplab.com/mattress-reviews/sleep-number-review/
      At least with respect to the C2, I really was not impressed. Motion transfer was high, pressure relief was lacking, and the support dynamic was really strange (you have to lie right in the middle of your side to feel well supported).
      To be fair, the C2 is one of their cheaper mattresses, so it's possible their higher end stuff solves these problems.
      That said, I just don't really have any confidence in Sleep Number as a brand. I receive several hundred emails each week from my readers / viewers asking for help and complaining about mattresses. Sleep Number is one of the most complained about mattresses that people are moving away from.

    im sold on the Winkbeds but im undecided which is best for me. out of the luxury firm and firmer which do you recommend best for a 6' 240~ combo sleeper mostly stomach and back?
    thanks

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  Місяць тому +1

      You are in a small minority of sleepers that really could go either way.
      If you slept on your side at all, I'd say go luxury firm. But since it's just stomach and back the firmer is definitely an option for you.
      A vast majority of sleepers need the luxury firm version. So unless you are just certain you like a firmer feel, I would still say that is your best option. Even so, it's likely you could be happy with either version.

    I appreciate your variety of categories and enjoy your reviews but I must disagree with you. I currently have two of your winners. The winkbed (softer) and the Saatva classic. I enjoy the winkbed (queen) but my wife finds it too soft so we purchased the Saatva classic(king). I hate it and this is where i question your rating. The motion transfer in the winkbed is much less than the Saatva classic: Everytime my wife moves in the Saatva , the entire bed bounces like a cheap coil mattress from any movie trying to depict poverty. I had hopes that the dual layers of coils would suppress this but it's the worst bed I've had in years as far as motion transfer yet you rank it near the top. Other than medicine balls, how do you rate the motion transfer? Thanks.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  23 дні тому

      Our motion transfer score an objective score that uses accelerometer data precisely measure motion. To complete our motion transfer tests we place our accelerometer on one side of the mattress and drop a 12 pound medicine ball on the other side.
      Acceleration is measured in meters per second squared (m/s2). If an object (in this case our accelerometer) accelerates in 5.0 m/s2 that means the speed is increasing by 5.0 meters every second. The higher the acceleration, the more motion is created on the mattress.
      The initial medicine ball drop and rebound creates an acceleration range (IE, a minimum and maximum acceleration), which are the data points we use for our scores.
      If I may ask - what type of foundation and frame are you using? Both can have an impact on mattress performance, including motion transfer. Did you also get the soft version of Saatva's Classic?

    how did you measure score on sex??

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews  Місяць тому +7

      Our sex score is a simple equation where we look at 5 different factors. Each factor is given a different weight based on how important we think that factor is for most people.
      We rate and score:
      Bounce
      Edge Support
      Noise
      Pressure Relief
      Cooling
      Those 5 factors are weighted and factored together to determine the total sex score.
