The Silk & Snow is an 11.5″ hybrid made of poly foam and pocketed coils, all wrapped within a 1.0″ quilted cover.
It has deep sinkage and a balanced contour with a high level of bounce. While this feel won’t be ideal for all sleepers, if you’re looking for that deeper contour, the Silk & Snow Hybrid may be a good option to consider.
This mattress comes in a single firmness with a medium-firm feel (6 out of 10 on our firmness scale).
In our performance tests, the Silk & Snow Hybrid had a score of 8.43, which puts it just below the average level for all mattresses tested to date.
Despite the slightly below average performance, the price point is really what shines on this mattress. Priced at only $700 for a queen, the Silk & Snow Hybrid is 48% less than the average hybrid, making it a great value if you’re on a tight budget.

    I need to get a new mattress for medical reasons and need to have it lower to the floor. I am 5’0” tall, 166 lbs., 77 yo. I sleep on my side, and move a lot during sleep. I am moving from a twin to a full. Budget is a consideration. I have been researching so many and still feel confused. Hopefully you can recommend what would be a good choice.

    What are the different types of density of mattress?? Please

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews 12 годин тому

      Density varies by each individual foam layer. It isn't mattress-wide. 2.5-3.5 PCF (pounds per cubic foot) is pretty typical for a foam comfort layer. With some higher end mattresses using 4-5 PCF foams. While higher density foams are generally considered better due to their increased longevity, they are also more expensive and are more prone to heat retention compared to lower density foams. Support foams are typically around a 1.8 PCF.

    Can you find out if this Ridgecrest II is the same as Macys Castlewood/Mattress firm's Satisfied II/Ashley Furniture Euclid Avenue ? If they are indeed the same mattress, but different names to lock pricing, I wonder what other companies and mattresses follow the same route.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews 2 дні тому

      They at least look very similar. However, it would be impossible for me to say if they are the same without ordering each of them and cutting them open. Virtually all major traditional brands employ this tactic (and so do some direct to consumer brands)...which is make the same mattress, but sell it under different names depending on the retailer (often at different prices). Some times there will be slight changes like a single material layer or a cover will be a bit different so they can justify the higher price point. This tactic is designed to make it difficult to comparison shop between retailers.

    Do you really know what you will be signing up for if you buy a Nectar mattress, I bought one about 1 year ago and to say it has been a disappointment is an understatement this foam king size mattress has totally failed on both sides, and it has a crown in the middle and is horribly uncomfortable. The worst part however is finding someone who cares. I've sent over 20 pictures to Nectar and Amazon where I bought it, wrote several letters and all they tell me to do is take more scientific pictures with depth measurements and for the 7th time send them my proof of purchase receipt, 3 months this has gone on. Each time I get ahold of them they act like I'm someone different and make me jump through all these hoops all over again. My sincere advice to you is NEVER BUY A NECTOR PRODUCT ESSPECIALLY A MATTRESS!

    Would love to see a review of sleeponlatex/earthfoam! Maybe expanding into pillows, blankets/sheets etc could broaden viewer base. Would also like to see a more objective review of off gassing, smells are objective and some harmful chemicals aren't detectable via scent, and some safe ones have strong odors. A VOC meter would help with this, and maybe a breakdown of specific chemicals/additives, certifications, etc.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews 7 днів тому

      Review for Sleep on Latex / Earthfoam is coming soon. I've got a pretty full June and July, but I believe we'll be ready to test those by August. VOC metered testing is something I've considered in the past, but based on my understanding, it's something that's difficult to objectively test. Even with the right testing equipment, we would need a room that is effectively sealed in order to keep a constant environment for testing. At present, we don't have that, but it's something I'm thinking about adding in the future.

    Out of curiosity what's the difference if any between the Cocoon foam and hybrid mattresses sold at Walmart vs the Cocoon foam and hybrid mattresses sold directly by Sealy? The queen hybrid is $465 cheaper at Walmart and the foam just $50 cheaper. I did get the Cocoon by Sealy Shredded Compressed Bed Pillow which I like. Looking at the fiberglass concerns and the "unclear" label on the Cocoon. I saw this from Sealy... "To clarify, this product contains a glass free FR sock that is completely safe and inaccessible in normal use, even if the cover is removed."

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews 10 днів тому

      I don't know what the difference is between those versions. Often, retailers get custom versions of popular mattresses that have been redesigned so that they are less expensive. Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco, and others do this. My best guess is that's what's probably going on here.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews 11 днів тому

      The Sapira is a great mattress, but in terms of design and feel it's not massively different from Winkbed. If you like Winkbed you'll also like Sapira and if you dislike Sapira you'll dislike Winkbed. You can see the two compared side by side here - naplab.com/tools/side-by-side-mattress-comparison-tool/?_mattress_name_dropdown=leesa-sapira%2Cwinkbed Performance is very similar. Biggest difference is Winkbed has better edge support. Beyond that, very similar performance.

    I’m interested in a medium / firm, king size which will be placed in a basement. The humidity, in summer, will probably settle around 60%. Is a latex mattress the best choice for humidity also, what is the best base “bed” for a mattress without a box spring? The one that you are demonstrating your mattresses on looks very supportive and probably add longevity to the mattress.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews 13 днів тому

      Latex would be fine in that environment, as would most hybrid mattresses. I would just make a point to avoid all foam mattresses if at all possible. As far as the base, I'd say either a platform frame (like what you see in the video) or a slatted frame would be your best choices. As far as the specific model goes, I would need more information to provide a personalized recommendation. If you'd like a recommendation just answer the questions here - naplab.com/mattress-quiz/

    • @debmaccallum5940
      @debmaccallum5940 12 днів тому

      @@NapLabReviews what specific brand would you suggest for humidity? Also, I like the flat base for a mattress however the slatted ones might provide more air flow. Is there a standard number of slats per bed size. Saw somewhere that people chose to put a thin piece of plywood over the slats. I don't understand why if there is adequate mattress support from the slats. It's very confusing and can be expensive hence my questions to narrow down what I need.

    • @NapLabReviews
      @NapLabReviews 12 днів тому

      @@debmaccallum5940 You're in a tough spot here...yes, slats do provide more airflow, but they also create worse support than a platform. For slats to provide great support they need to be at least 3" wide, gaps no more than 3" between slats, be fully rigid (no flex, no bowed slats), and have a thick beam running down the middle for center of mattress support. Many slat frames fail to live up to this level, so the plywood on top of slats helps to solve this issue. As far as the brand best for humidity...there is no particular mattress brand that I would say is ideal for humidity. I would get the mattress that meets your comfort / firmness / support needs and then tackle the humidity issue with: 1) Full encasement waterproof mattress protector 2) Dehumidifier

    Thanks for this review, but did they update this model again? The current description on their website says that it has a 3” layer of latex, not 2”. So I wonder if it’s now softer than this version that was tested? Another fact that needs to be updated is that they charge $99 for returns, so it’s not free returns.

      That is strange, although I noticed that BB had more outdated or contradictory info on both their websites for this mattress. So if it’s 2” latex over 8” coils, that’s pretty much the same design as the Avocado Eco, which I think scored higher in your ratings.
