Felix. I had a Huntsman that had burned slabs. Watching you do other thing in your workshop gave me the idea to make my own slabs. I used cherry that I had left over from making a flintlock rifle. The hardest part was inletting the spots for the toothpick and the tweezers. I also have the hole for a straight pin. It's only 2.4mm thicker than a regular Huntsman. Thanks for inspiring me to do this job.
Great idea regarding the nail file Felix, I have now fitted one to my Huntsman. All I did was wrap the file alongside the saw blade with a couple of folds of light kitchen aluminium foil. It keeps the file in place and takes no extra room. I used a piece of foil around 4cm wide and wrapped it tightly around both the saw and file a couple of times. It sits flat and if you finish with the the loose end tucked under the blade when its closed it wont move. The trick is to wind it tight. Love your videos 😊
Felix, you are the SAKK! (Swiss Army Knife King). Or, even better, KOTSAK (King of the Swiss Army Knife)!! Thank you for this excellent solution to a problem we ALL have faced before.
Felix, I kid you not, I took my nail file and tried to shove it somehow into my Huntsman light. It was too thick to fit because of the flashlight. Then you post this video lol. We think alike. Great video's. Much love from California :).
Felix Immler. The only crazy person on the planet who wants to make use of the few micron-wide indentation at the base of SAK saws and also, the only person on the planet who is capable of succeeding in that! Hats off, man, hats off!
Great idea, @Felix Immler! I used to use a glass nail file for edge maintenance on the go, but I recently discovered the Victorinox Dual Sharpener. It’s a reliable tool that I can always count on. Thank you for sharing your work with us!
Okay this is awesome, I just turned my couple of huntsmen into rangers basically, because now I have a file with me. Couple of bits of heat shrink work just great!
Awesome! Brilliant! Wunderbar! Once again, very informative - and an excellent idea! This is a very useful thing - even necessary, I would say... and that last bit with making a quick, handheld sharpening station, WITH A STICK - EXCELLENT!! Thank you for this, Felix! 😊
I would love to see you put together say a 110 mm with all the amazing mods you do. We could call it Swiss Franken knife !! Amazing as always so smart.
Best sample that creativity has no limits 👍👍👍👍 but you forgot something very important 😀you can use it as a Nail File as well, the Victorinox Champion has one and now you can have it on nearly each one, it’s like our smartphones today…sometimes we forget that you can still have a normal phone call with it 😅
Excellent solution to a common problem. Might I suggest that if you carry your larger SAK in a belt sheath, perhaps that could be modified to accommodate the file. What a great channel you have, thanks.
Genius, as always. From the past use of shrink tube, I immediately thought of its use when you were discussing how to store it in place. Next, how to store a fish hook and various needles, to include a curved glover's needle. Great class.
Thank you for the great advise on this trick, i will certainly try it on my outdoors knife as soon as i find corundum file, greetings all the way from Guatemala, CA
Thank You Felix! ...Years ago I placed a removeable 8x8mm Arkansas-Stone-Rod in the Scale, that worked well for Years until the Cybertool dropped from the Roof and the Stone broke (hard to fin sometimes at Craftsman Market) ...The Saphire-File works well but its rough most #150Grain what works but i prefer fine #400Grain for sharpening, so i Have a small Diamondsharpener in the Wallet in think abot how to fix it on the Scales. In Series some diamondscoated, removeable Scales would bei nice
Another thing that seems to work well is to take a small piece of 150 grit adhesive sandpaper and stick it to one side of the can opener blade. You can then trim it to the exact profile of the blade and it will close perfectly in the handle without rubbing…and it never comes loose as long as you wipe the blade first with lacquer thinner.
Hi, Felix! Pretty nice idea! I think, maybe the best model to use is a classic the little one, with the blade, scissors and nail shapener. It can be glued with epoxy and I am always have it on my keys and the Hantsman in the sheath. I think, its not so much important the length of the tool. If I need to sharpen my Hantsman or Sentinel, its long enough for this work. I think, it will work 1 year, and than the replacement will be not hard to much. So, maybe I 'll try it - I have one "little guy" spare, the shop gave me the new one, as for VIP, because I am a recordsman - bought more than 100 blades over there. They are very kind guys. Thank you very much and have a nice weekend!
Thank you! I have a Swiss Army Knife in each car's emergency kit. I also have a small diamond sharpener in the kit, but this is just the thing for every day, it can fit in my knife and I don't have to keep track of a separate sharpener. All the best to you, Felix.
With every new Felix's video l think: that's all, nothin to invent anymore. But every Friday Felix surprise us more and more!!! Bravo! 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Your comment makes me happy!! Thank you very much Sean!!
Same thoughts exactly, lol. Well done to him, a genius at maximising the potential of a SAK
I'm with the other guys too! You never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity!! Oh and I never get tired of hearing that "hello you tube". 😀😀
Yes💪👍
I’m about to buy a ton of Leatherman simply because of the diamond file and now I found this video. I’m so excited. And so thankful you exist Felix.
Felix , du bist ein Fuchs !!!
Das ist eine echt geniale Idee , Danke das Du sie mit uns teilst !!!!
I immediately clicked the video while saying "how could it be possible?" and just wow... you're a swiss army knife god
Thank a lot Murat 😆😆

Super!! The self made scales are always the most beauty ones!
One of your best hacks ever! I'm going to do about 10 of these lol

This is the best. Been saying for years the SAK needs a removable file. Preferably a round file but this is good too.
Thanks for your comment!
Congratulations - I finally bought my first Victorinox. This is Evowood 17!
Super choice!

Wow, Felix, wie immer - einfach und genial! Und dann stelle ich mir die Frage, warum ich da selber nicht drauf gekommen bin!
I did this one. I use a paper straw wrapper to sheath file, protecting surrounding tools
Super idea!!!!
an idea for storage can be wrapping the file into some wax paper, protects from scratches and also works as tinder in a pinch.
Now that's a very cool tip
👍
