The pizza restaurant is an essential part of the Italian dining experience. Thank you so much. What's the correct way to ask for a slice of pizza?

    • @ItalianTeacherValentina
      @ItalianTeacherValentina  2 місяці тому

      "Slice" is "fetta" in Italian, but we usually don't sell it by the slice (slice of a round pizza). You can find "pieces" of pizza at "pizzeria al taglio" and there, we call it "un pezzo di pizza". To learn more about "pizza al taglio" please watch this other video of mine 😉: ua-cam.com/video/xBzvrtRzFiQ/v-deo.htmlsi=cGhKNbELA8NMf4g3&t=228

    Always enjoy your videos and teaching style. If I may make a suggestion.. when you use the word 'senza' - you describe it as 'free' rather than 'without.' In English, when we say free, it means 'at no cost.' That could get us in trouble here in Italy!!!😂

    • @ItalianTeacherValentina
      @ItalianTeacherValentina  2 місяці тому +1

      😅😅 True! However, I've seen a lot of "gluten-free", "lactose-free" etc. expressions in English, so wanted to make clear that you cannot use "libero" or "gratuito" for those in Italian 😉

      Yes, absolutely! I have explained it in other videos! That's equally polite and appropriate. Please have a look at this other video of the series: ua-cam.com/video/Mfe4eYzY_y0/v-deo.htmlsi=jM7uFSit73p0HidC

    For those places that cut off a piece and weigh it--how do you order there? I just pointed at what I wanted and said "prendo questo per favore" -but he thought I wanted the whole thing and not just a piece of it. How do you say "I'd like some of this please" while pointing at the pizza you want?

    • @ItalianTeacherValentina
      @ItalianTeacherValentina  Місяць тому

      From your description, that'a a "pizza al taglio" place, so they should understand you mean one piece, because that's how they actually sell it. But if you want to be sure, you can say "un pezzo di questa" or "X pezzi di questa" if you want more 😉

    Why does not use “con” this sentence?
    - Vorrei un calzone ‘con’ prosciutto e mozzarella?
