@@undershade1834 honestly, I'm not sure. I see so many requests in his chat
This Is probably the only video game song that makes me cry tears of happiness for giving me hope that I will one day find my own happiness
@jameswelch3624 this one and the one from ffx2, a thousand years"
That melody is literally the one reason I remember Legend of Dragoon so fondly. When I heard it, I knew this was a special game.
God I wish they remade this game
I KNOW... TT.TT
Yea it would be a dream come true for real.
That or the Dragon Campaign, a prequel......
They wouldn't be able to do it. They would do it like ff7 remake and it would suffer for it.
"This is going to get stuck in my head!"
Yeah, it's been stuck in my head for 20+ years now (and I love it!)
This is still one of my favorite reactions from Jesse on the channel.
Is it possible to feel nostalgic for a song you've never heard before? Because that's how I felt listening to this.
Dennis Martin was the lead composer for Legend of Dragoon and it was his first, and really only foray into the world of VGM, which is why some of the tracks feel distinctly un-videogame-like. When he went for the job he sent in two songs as part of his application that he thought might work well for a videogame. One wasn't particularly well received and so was never used, the other was so well received they made it the opening theme to the game with no changes made to it. That was this song. Wonderfully the song's lyrics turned out to be very relevant to two particular characters in the game.
I've always thought it a shame Dennis didn't do anything in videogames after legend of Dragoon (I believe he's mostly a TV show composer) because his music brought such a memorable vibe to Legend of dragoon. Not enough people make use of a mournful saxophone in videogames. Menu music was very groovy too.
Legend of Dragoon is a great game and I'd love to see some kind of return from it but it's always been in a kind of weird position where it was a sony first party JRPG that performed FAR better in the west than it did in Japan (apparently the Japanese release was quite a bit harder which turned people off) so even though it has a pretty strong cult following in the west, there's just not much enthusiasm for it on Sony's end. Last thing we heard even slightly relevant to it was the main character Dart was planned to be a fighter in Sony's smash-bro's clone on the PS3 but Sony ended up scrapping all planned DLC for that game. Still hoping it gets some kind of re-release some day.
Not only was it used for the opening, but also as the ending song of the game which - in my opinion at the least - had an even greater impact to it.
It not only emphasized the relevance to both above mentioned characters - Dart & Shana (male / female lead and player characters) - but also to the culmination and ending of Rose's & Zieg's (another player character / Dart's father) story.
I remember my younger, 14-years-old self having goosebumps and nearly choking on tears when this played at the end. While hearing it at first as opening it sounds rather optimistic, romantic and just a bit sad this song hits you like a freaking freight train after experiencing the characters stories.
I dearly hope for the game to get a kind of similar treatment as Final Fantasy 7 did with Remake/Intergrade. A combat system like used there would fit LoD's unique assets (dragoon transformation for one) perfectly, make aerial/vertical combat possible and help alleviate it's perceived weaknesses (e.g. the squishy QTE system or Dragoon attack command). Also the CGI cutscenes were gorgeous and awesome even then, no question they'd be even better now.
This game was my first real RPG and will always hold a special place with me, some people crap on the battle system, but even to this day, I think It's one of the best takes on Innovating the turn based system!
Gust of wind dance was a PITA to learn though
Yeah, it’s actually you can say an interactive battle system, many enemies can be felled with one full addition, it’s like combining rhythm game with RPG, that’s why it’s fun, the game kept you active
@@Zelisius meru's combos where harder to hit though gust of wind just had the problem that it changed slightly between lavitz and albert
Honestly it was good because it was original and had LOVE behind it
@@Nephie1984 Thing is it all gets easier. The ultimate editions I used to be never able to do but in recent years I can do them blindfolded at this point. And it’s so fulfilling ❤
The vocalist of If You Still Believe is Elsa Cornish AKA Elsa Raven if anyone is interested. She's a classically trained and multi genre vocalist. Lately she's been doing electronic dance music and has also recently appeared in the documentary "Song For Our People".
Legend of Dragoon is one of my top favourite rpg's, and along with it one of my favourite vgm's. This piece is beautiful, and, for me, it's absolutely stellar. I listen to it often still to this day whenever the thought or feeling runs in my mind. This game is so good.
Huge TLoD fan here. One of my favorite opening themes for any game!
My goodness, never thought i'd see the Legend of Dragoon here. Such a classic game, want a remaster, not a remake, so so much!
I don't even care if it's a remaster, just port it to pc and switch and I''m good. I'd buy it on both the moment it was released lol
@@ragnar97 pretty sure sony owns the rights so pc might happen someday but not looking to good sadly but switch most likely never lol
@@kyse2 True, but unless they live under a rock they should know at the very least simply porting it to pc would be easy money
I first heard this song years ago when I finished Legend of the Dragoons, was amazed with such a beautiful song. I still listen to it til this day.........
Ah, its been a while since I've heard this song. The goosebumps still appear
I love Legend of Dragoon, thank you for listening to this one!
Legend of Dragoon music is very underrated.
Came back to rewatch this after a couple years and the nostalgia of the early 00's is strong with this song. It reminds me of a lot of songs that came out in that time and during the 90's even and it makes me want to go back to those days. I'm not one for love songs, but the melody of this and some others during that period are so good and thinking back to the days when I'm sitting in the backseat of the car while the radio is playing a song like this, it truly was a wonderful time.
Man this took me down nostalgia street, this was one of the few RPGs I completed and then being hit with this song at the end just made me bawl my eyes out at the time, it was very poignant and fitting for one of my favourite characters from the game, Rose. It really left me with some very deep feels, and I'm glad that it hasn't been buried by the sands of time. Thanks for rekindling a very precious memory from my younger days!
It's amazing on how much of an impact this song makes and how great it is, I have a copy of Legend of Dragoon but I haven't played it since 2003/4 and still clearly remember this song.
Thanks for reacting to this. LoD is a nostalgia drive for me. What great times :)
I remember that demo disk, it was how I first encountered the game and it's my favorite JRPG to this day
this song is from the very opening of the game, like if you stay at the main menu long enough it plays. It is so beautiful I always end up crying when I hear it. Now that you've heard it, chances are very likely that you'll remember the lyrics even a decade from now.
Oh and the musician is a woman named: Elsa Raven and Elsa Cornish
I can't tell you how amazing it is to see a reaction to literally my favorite song ever. Thank you for checking this out.
This game and this song are huge parts of my childhood. The Legend of Dragoon is the game that made me realize I like playing RPGs. I love it and hope they remake it. Or at least remaster it
I had to try watching this three or four different times because EACH TIME, without fail, I was on the verge of tears just thinking about/listening to the lyrics as well as thinking about what happens in the game as well as even before the events of the game. God. It's criminal that this game doesn't have a remaster. I hesitate about a remake...because the story is timeless and I would be SO AFRAID. This is my favorite JRPG, full stop, and I play it once each year.
Top five of my favorite games ever. Always has been and always will be. And this track is pure nostalgia
This song and PSO Ep 2 Ending: "World With Me" are GOAT masterpieces imo. Thanks for the video, brought back memories
Legend of Dragoon is an old gem that so many people have not experienced and I pray for the day the game is remastered or remade. It is by far a game that I hold dear to me, I still have my Physical copy in it's case and break it out when I want to spend hours enjoying my childhood
Such a great song from a great game. I had sadly missed out on the JRPG scene up until I played this, but this was the game that got me into the genre. Whole reason I got into Final Fantasy was because I saw someone playing FFX and it reminded me of Legend of Dragoon
Such an amazing game. Definitely a cornerstone of my childhood.

Recently found your channel and after finding out you did a legend of dragoon song makes me super happy with this being my favorite game of all time, massive thanks to you and zelisius.
The music in this game was amazing
This is definitely in my top 100 favorite songs and The Legend of Dragoon still tops my Favorite Games list. This song in particular was something of an opening theme song that played on the main start screen. The more in-game music, however, is absolutely fantastic on its own. Some notable in-game themes are the Menu theme, "Peace between Hills" which is the theme for Donao and Furni cities and "Royal Capital" which is the theme for the cities of Bale and Fletz. Those tracks, I think, constitute some of the best videogame music in history.
Whenever I find a chat about TLoD and read about all the love people have for the game and that it is an important memory about their childhood, I'd like to hug everyone in the thread.
OMG omg omg you're doing this one! This makes me way too happy
Thanks for doing this! Awesome game and soundtrack!
Honestly there were a number of things that didn't click with me about this game but this song man, is beautiful. A Horse With No Name as your favourite song is a solid shout, always loved that song. Love the lyrics, the increasing intensity of the sound as the song goes on and the lyrics getting harsher to match.
So nostalgic, this brought back so many memories. What a great pick. The entire soundtrack is unique, it's a breath of fresh air in an ecosystem dominated by a lot of the same style of music at the time for games.
Holy crap someone who can pronounce dragoon. Thumbs up. Subscribed. Just for that
Never played that game. But i did somehow hear this song whenever for whatever reason that happened. I love that song.
Looked it up and discovered i already liked this in Spotify. So they suggested it to me
One of my favorite games. The entire fan base cry out for a remake, a reboot, a sequel or whatever, but it never seems to happen ^^.
Basically my favorite rpg game. Such a gorgeous track to open and close the game.
I’ve loved Blackmore’s Night/Knight since I was around 15. I’m 29 now. My favourite ones are as follows: Fires At Midnight, World Of Stone, Shadow Of The Moon, Lorelei, Morning Star, Ocean Gypsy, Dandelion Wine, Diamonds And Rust, Cartouche!!!, 25 Years, 3 Black Crows, Ivory Tower, Hanging Tree, Journeyman, Locked Within The Crystal Ball, ( a great instrumental of theirs is called Minstrel Hall), Crowning Of The King!! Sake Of The Song is good too! Street Of Dreams is also quite touching too!!❤
Oh dang The Circle is also an amazing one, Unquest Grace is a beauty as well!❤ Streets Of London definitely makes one contemplative~~
💕💕💎💕💕
this game is what really got me into RPGs, still my favorite to this day and i keep my fingers crossed for a remake
This song always brings tears to my eyes
Legend of Dragoon was Sony's response to Final Fantasy. It was a surface level imitation, but with a big budget and a surprising amount of matte art. Which was kinda a big deal; painting a whole landscape just for a few seconds of scene took a lot of work.
That opening music is stellar, and way more inspired than the game it's from. When the going got tedious, I used to quit the game and just replay 'If you still believe' a few times for inspiration.
Yes. The I am one of many in the fanbase that proves even if it’s dead to the market it never died to us!!!!❤
This game will be my next now ^^
idk anything about it but I want to play this now because of you
I still playthrough this game from time to time.
One of my favorite classic rpgs. I didn't play ff7 at release so this was my ff7 moment
This plays during the credits. A short version of it plays during the disk 1 title screen intro. The Legend of Dragoon has been my favorite game of all time ever since I first played the demo. I always try to play through it at least once per year, with my next playthrough going to be very soon. I love this game on such a spiritual level that I can still vividly remember minute details of my first playthrough of it 22 years later.
Not really something to react to but the "behind the scenes" video included with the demo disk that had the demo of The Legend of Dragoon is one of my favorite videos of all time. It always puts a smile onto my face and can even bring me to tears. It also includes a music that was cut from the final version of the game. I'll put a link to it just in case you want to watch it on your own time.

Glad to see my favorite RPG get some love. I haven't lost hope for a revival!
This legend of dragoon song his so much meaning that no one know how much magical and enhancing this song was. When you start to listening again and again to it, it like it pulling your soul and spirit and you imagination to a fantasy world 🌎 that you love one was there and still waiting for you, like in another parallel world. That was how much magical and enhancing this legend of dragoon song was!
That voice is angelic man....
Loving the videos! All the FFXIV reacts have me wanting you to hear the Eden Ramuh's Theme and The Diablo Armament's Theme (Wrath of the Harrier)!
This was one of my all time favorite games . I played this while my buddy played final fantasy seven . What a hidden gem This game is. I still know the lyrics to the intro Because I would put it on and just let it play
Legend of Dragoon is such a unique JRPG that few others have came close to... a tragic tale that spans 12,000 years, of magic & betrayal, vengeance & redemption, of love & loss... I hope you give the game a try someday man, the demo is just a taste of how incredible the game is. The music alone makes it worth visiting ^-^
At least in my country Legend of Dragoon wasn't very well known because it released arround the same time as other great well known games. All my friends that played it said the same: it's weird but it's a great JRPG.
This song is so beautiful so much so that it and one other song from the game I have TWICE on my bed time music playlist like I have the full OST but I also have clones of this song and another so I hear them more then once as I drift off to sleep
It's a game I played lot of years ago, and I don't remember that song at all...
Thanks for making me (re)discover it !
Man this game has an epic soundtrack, with sadly a lot of tracks left out of the already humongous OST. So happy you got to LoD ^^
bro the LOD is my fav game of all time the music is sooooo good the battle music is like some hard ass metal really gets you into it the voice acting is ass but as a kid i loved it cause it was ridiculous it added that charm to me the game play was phenomenal and the music was the best ever in any game i had heard the story was perfect for a young male in that era.
The bass in this game is absolutely wonderful, I believe it's what influenced my style when I picked up bass. But this song always gives me chills. And the one and only tattoo I have is of the dragon buster. This game is an absolute gem, it's a shame that it came out just before the PS2 and was overshadowed.
First played this game as a high schooler. The characters, story, effects, animation, and DG transformations were so awesome and beautiful. If I had to choose three RPGs to play for the rest of my life, they would be: 1. Legend of Dragoon 2. Final Fantasy VII 3. Metal Gear Solid 2. The song is so serene and epic. They really need to do a remake of this nostalgic PSX hit.
Id be honored to duet this metal core/post hardcore with screams and male tandem style singing
I've listened to A LOT of VGMs in my life but this one is very special to me despite I've never played this game so I have no emotional context for it.
I've always thought this was a really pretty song ever since I heard it at the opening theme of the game.
The harmony part reminds me a lot of The Mysterious City of Gold, if you're ever heard the opening for that old 80's anime.
Okay but one of the trailers for this game was hilarious and nothing like the in game tone at all- Dart and Lloyd fighting and Dart cuts Lloyd's head off and Lloyd complains about it comically. When I was a kid I saw it thinking it was some kind of 2D fighting game and immediately made me want this game.
I promptly forgot what the game was and years later at around 12 I got to play this- only a few years ago did I look up trailers for TLoD and see that it had been that game all along.
Definitely need a remake of Legend of Dragoon. One of the few older rpgs I played through multiple times.
Im a big fan of square rpg golden era say final fantasy, chrono cross, parasite eve and others such xenogears but Legend of Dragoon has an special place above all of them, such a cautivating history, the combat system unique to all, the songs and of course the Dragoon transformations...This is one of two games that made me cry like a baby for a scene (Lavitz death) being the other Aeris death... For so long I keep waiting that some people out there just pick this Masterpiece and make a fine and well deserved remake, I always keep in my mind the last image of the ending where it put " The end?" hoping to see a second part basing on the dragoon campaign that took place 11.000 years ago.
I've always found this song haunting even back when I was a kid.
I feel like Legend of Dragoon was someones product of love that was made before the technology was ready for it. I mean, the way it is, adds to it's charm, but there are some moments where I felt like it deserved to be portrayed better.
Always loved Horse with No Name, nice taste!
You should make a playlist of your favorite songs from this channel.
"I don't know when this song is play....maybe the end?" Nah Dude...before you even load the save file this shit blaring at you. That game was a rock n roll wild rollercoaster.
idk where to recommend Songs but there is an old MMO called "Aion" which had pretty awsome soundtracks.
An old classic RPG from PS1 era and one of the few that have 4 discs of gameplay, this game was one hell of an adventure.
If only they'd remake this thing with current-gen graphics . . .
Iiif you're looking for interesting beautiful music like this, Final Fantasy 9 has an absolutely lovely track called "Melodies of Life." As another PS1 game gem song, I *don't* think it hits anywhere near as good as this, BUT I still think it's a very lovely piece!!!
While we're in FF9 territory also, I think you'd enjoy Darkness of Eternity a bunch, too.
I think I prefer melodies of life to this... I think it's a bit better crafted and this might be a bit busier than I'd like... I do still like this one though... Though I think I like Eyes on me from FF8 a bit better than either though lol But all is good... I think Chrono Cross might have a good one too... That or I'm thinking of a remix someone made >_>; I forget...
I Love This Song! I hope the game gets a remake
So, it's been a few years since my last replay of TLoD, but I think this exclusively plays as the pre-menu music on disk 1... i think it's melody might be used later as humming but a definitive answer is escaping me atm
I also love Blackmore's Night. Listen to them at least once a day :)
I'd Recommend The landing or The Extreme both from final fantasy 8
Dang, I haven't listened to Blackmore's Night in ten years. Maybe time to change that.
I’d love to see you react to Destiny 2 - Journey (track 11) such an amazing piece of music art.
On god that make me want to re-play this
I feel old... I was all the way in junior high when this came out. My introduction to RPGs came from a copy of FF2 rented from Blockbuster back when I was... man, like 7?
Ah.. the smell of blockbuster and popcorn
@@JessesAuditorium You can buy that smell as a Yankee Candle, I'm sure of it.
I still believe and pray every day.
That magic that you “can’t put my finger on it” is because this game is about the fallen angels that fell from heaven in the Old Testament. It’s partly based on a true story that’s why there is so much power in it. 1/3 of them to be exact. That is why this game has been kept hidden. If you love game of thrones you will love this game.
The day they remake this game is the day I know I'll die happy someday
my favorite PS1 rpg on my birthday, nice!
in my opinion this is the best ps1 game ever made
Since you enjoyed this I would definitely recommend Kokoro from Xenosaga Episode 1
#BringBackTheLegendOfDragoon
I want to play Legend of Dragoon so bad. But for some reason it doesn't seem to have any ports on modern consoles.
I have it on my phone lol
It's on the PS3 store in NA.
where is the video of jesse reacting to the pause menu music?
i know this song played during the intro, not sure if anywhere else
This is kind of going to be spoilers but the vaguest spoilers possible okay?
If you've ever finished this game this song becomes even sadder.
