Great install on the Tundra. Would love to see a video showing the view of the digital rear view mirror and bed camera through the portal window.
If we can pull that off in the near future, we'll definitely do that!
There is another video that shows the rear view camera being used and still being able to see through the entire smart cap for a decent view
When applying the foam seal tape to the back of the truck bed, what was used to plug up the gap at each corner? The techs in the video appear to have used some sort of putty.
Butyl tape, which is a "putty-like" substance. You should be able to find it at most automotive stores.
Everything is perfect. I will order it when I get a chance. But isn't there a screen door(Bugs proof) in Windows?
No, we haven't had the opportunity to add that into our product line yet. We have seen several DIY screens for the sliding portal windows. Most have used strong magnets to attach them. You might search out Facebook SmartCap Tribe group, or the Facebook SmartCap Modifications group to see those.
I’m having an issue where the top brake light is not getting any power at all. Any remedy to it?

How much doesn the cap itself weight?
If you are asking specifically about the cap for the '22+ Tundra, it is approximately 225 - 270 lbs, depending on bed length. Other applications are similar, but you can see the specifications for each application on the individual EVO series pages on our website (www.SmartCap.com).
I did contact your firm. So while you state it should take approximately under 2 hours to install, I was charged 6 hours. When I brought this to your attention, you simply shrugged it off. So which is it, 2 hours, or 6 hours. No way there can be that much diff w out something shady going on.
While we estimate 2 hours for assembly and installation, the dealers that sell our products are all independent businesses, and can set their own pricing. We would suggest shopping around to try and see what others are charging.

@@smartcap_official G0C 1Z0. You guys should pay me for trying to get some of the dealers in the Maritimes to join your company. You really need more representation. So I did get two quotes, one from a dealer in Ottawa, Ontario, a 14 hour drive, and another one in Mississauga, Ontario, an 18 hour drive (both quoted me a 2 hour install)..... After spending a week trying to convince some of the New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia cap suppliers, I finally found one in Halifax NS, a 9 hour drive. Most have never heard of the type of these overland type of caps you provide, and only deal w fiberglass type caps, like Leer. So when I finally did get one, CapsPlus, they told me they had 15 clients so far. And while they did do a good job, it never occurred to me they would charge me $600 to install the unit. Not sure why you are talking w me, you should be threatening to negate their license agreement unless they return the $ they stole from me. What is wrong w you people.
frame should be 1 piece no assembly then zero chance of leaks !!
We appreciate your feedback, but please know that when a SmartCap EVO is properly assembled and installed, it will be water-tight. Unfortunately (and as you may be aware), we can't say the same about truck beds. In most cases, when water is leaking in through the truck bed it is coming in due to uneven surfaces between the bulkhead (front panel) and the sides of the bed. To combat this, we provide a foam strip for you to apply to fill the gap due to those height differences. Finally, our Positive Pressure Air Vent also helps keep the water outside the bed by pressurizing the enclosed space to prevent water from being sucked in.
Also, there are many reasons that we build our caps modularly, not the least of which, we are able to ship them to your home or local dealer using common carriers, as opposed to having to ship them on an open flatbed, as many one-piece fiberglass manufacturers do. Another advantage is that if you damage one of the 5 panels (hit a tree limb, etc.), you can replace that one panel, without having to replace the entire cap.

Not an easy install at all. Been working on those corners for hours, only got one in so far, everything is as loose as can be and can’t get the tabs back in after getting that first corner in.
Was not able to complete the install, 3 techs total, we all followed the step by step instructions to a T and all watched this install video as well.

So sorry to hear you are having trouble. We have reached out to our Customer Support Team and asked them to contact you directly. Because the tolerances are so tight, which ensures the strength and stability of the cap, they can be a bit tricky when fitting the corner sections together. The support team should be able to get you sorted straight out. They have tons of experience with assembly of SmartCaps. Look forward to hearing how it comes out.
