Here's some more Trivia. When I was around 7 years old I lived in Manhattan on the upper west side. Guess who lived in the apt above me? Lynn Thigpen who played the DJ in the Warriors movie. She was just getting into acting back then and I think was doing mostly theatre at the time. I think she might have had a part in the Broadway musical Godspell. Can't remember that well.. I was pretty little and it's about 50 years ago. She used to babysit me sometimes to help my parents out. What I remember about her is that she was very sweet and lived with her boyfriend Larry. And we always knew them as Lynn and Larry. I'm guessing this around 1974. I remember she bought me theatrical makeup to play around with. And used to make me up to look like a clown or a horror character. Those were the days...
Love it! I grew up in NYC in the 1970s and they did a great job of replicating a subway bathroom. They were so grungy... and you took your life in your hands entering one. It had to be a super emergency back then to venture inside.
That was a great movie. I was only 16 years old when it came out. I had to watch it on TV first. I saw it on video many times. Still is a great movie today.
@@movieswelove99 Sorry about that. I just can't believe how long it's been since that movie came out. I understand that Michael Beck accidentally broke 3 of the stuntmans ribs during the bat fight with the baseball furries. He didn't find out about until 35 years later.
This is a classic movie. The film debut of Mercedes Ruehl as an undercover police officer is one thing to watch for.Deborah Van Valkenburgh did quite a bit after this movie, she was in All the Marbles as a woman wrestler. She also did the television show Too Close for Comfort with Ted Knight and Nancy Dussault.
The guy whom played Rembrandt.... watching the DVD with the commentary, you hear he got stabbed in the heart with a switchblade in a real life fight! Soooo sad!💔💔💔💔😇😇🙏🙏
I thought this movie was awesome when it first came out, these gang members are a haircut away from looking like Mormon missionaries, no tattoos, face piercings or green hair, people today look like sideshow freaks in comparison

That is so cool!
@@dadachimbo Indeed!
Can you dig it??
I can.Sort of an American version of A Clockwork Orange.
@@David-yw2lv Ummmm.... Yeah, I suppose. You should watch the movie so you can see the line in action.
@@MRMAN-gp1kb What?
@@David-yw2lv
Nothing like Clock Work orange.
@@jesusisunstoppable4438 The surrealistic cinematography and the Baseball Furies' makeup are very similar to A Clockwork Orange
One of my favorite movies ever!
Yes!!! I CAN dig iiiiiittttt!!!!!
11. The subway men’s room where the fight with the punks happened was the only built set piece in the entire film.

Nah they really hated those punks that was real
R.I.P. Cochise.
Unedited version on VHS is BEST
Yes, it's much better than the director's cut.
The Warriors is a boss coming of age movie. Classic

I was about 13 (we're old now huh?).
@@movieswelove99 I just say that I am older now. I don't consider myself Old. Do you consider yourself Old?
@@snake9911 Not old yet... I was just joking around.

I’m gonna pull someone’s eye out if I hear any plans on a remake!
Some movies are perfect and should be left alone.
hate to have to tell u but there s already been one
@@aparrotformrpoirot8906there is? What's it called? Same name? I could look it up though, did not know there was.
Classic film
We used to watch this quite often at the midnight showing in the Chicago area
I saw this movie for the first time last year and I dug it. Would definitely watch again.
Actor James Remar was Ajax in the gang and also played Dexter’s father
And, Thomas G. Waites was Fox, uncredited. He played Windows in The Thing.
Sol Yurick said the other influences for his book were the conclave chapter of Dante’s Inferno, and the 14th Century Chinese epic “Water Margin”
I *REALLY* dig The Warriors. The Turnbull ACs skinheads are the coolest gang.

Grew up watching too close for comfort. Remember Monroe? Weird to think he's almost 70 years old now. Thanks for sharing!
@@movieswelove99 Jim J. Bullock, later the center square in a revival of Hollywood Squares.Deborah Van Valkenburgh was very pretty.
I remember Deborah van Valkenburg more from one of my favorite movies - 'Streets of Fire.'
She's in Rob Zombies movies.
@@jtx38 That was a good movie.Strange but good.Sort of a combination of The Wizard of Oz and A Clockwork Orange.
This was also filmed at the exact same time as the wanderers, they filmed during the day and warriors at night
I’m convinced Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stole his shtick from Cyrus for his wrestling persona.
The bands Grammercy Riffs and the Turnbull ACs got their names from gangs in the movie
I was at that reunion…yep in the almighty CI
Damn. That is beyond cool!!!
The story behind #2 (the taunt) is very interesting and should have been elaborated on.
One of the few movies that I would not mind seeing a great remake of.
Mercedes Ruehl was in it too. She played the undercover cop that arrested Ajax. Very pretty lady.
I also remember her from Frasier.
@victorvance2573 yes. Kate Costas. Frasier's sexy boss.
Not REALLY hard to believe. All this came out in a book years ago. And the Luther's line came from David's youth neighborhood memory. 👍👍👍
Warriors come out to playyyyy!
The best part of the movie is the ending...when the credits starts to roll...and Joe Walsh's "In the City" takes over
I was 16 when this opened, the theater had police officers frisking people prior to entry.
Wow. So it's not just a rumor!
The guy whom played Rembrandt.... watching the DVD with the commentary, you hear he got stabbed in the heart with a switchblade in a real life fight!
Soooo sad!💔💔💔💔😇😇🙏🙏
Interesting that Reagan screened it at Camp David as the film came out 14 months before Reagan was inaugurated
He musta really liked it….”hey folks….wanna watch one of my favorite movies?”
Well, a person can see a movie any time after it's been released. Even 14 plus months later.
I actually met a man in Queens NY on tour with my band the ACTUALLY KNEW "Warriors" gang members.
I wish Cleon made it past the first fight he looked cool and could scrap
Heard that the warriors logo was inspired by hells angels logo.
Is this an AI voice?

Why did they all look so gay?
Just because you run around the city with no shirt on... and a leather vest... doesn't mean you look... hmmm.
They don't. Maybe you just see what you want to see 😂
