      Why is a green light blinking up on the motor casing near the force controls?

    This solved my issue!! I actually had a service guy come out and suggest it was probably a bent panel and would need to replace the entire door for $1400. I told him I needed to do some research first. Turns out I just needed to adjust this downforce. You saved me from getting screwed over by an apparently shady company.

      Could still be a bend, skew, or insufficient lubrication. None of these validate an entire door replacement, but making your system work a bit harder doesn’t necessarily mean the underlying issue was resolved.
      Just like anything else, it’ll last longer with proper upkeep.

      why wouldnt you do your research first before having a technician drive to your house to provide a quote. just to waste his time your time and his money and mileage on his vehicle and gas including he couldn’t of went to a job that would’ve paid unlike your cheap job.

      @@garagedoorgeniushe priced new door for $1400 the door costs 800-1100 and your calling him a scum for making 300 for a whole days worth of work not to mention you need a helper and a truck for transportation. people like these are the ones with un maintenance belongings that are falling apart and they keep repairing rather than solving and replacing.

    • @garagedoorgenius
      @garagedoorgenius  7 років тому +1

      Lola Larue
      You could have the machine closing the door a little to hard.
      Yes, turning the down force UP more would probably keep it closed. But you just increased the down pressure. So if in the future the door hits something coming down, it will exert more pressure. So let's hope it's not something of value.
      Now you could back off the DOWN limit just a little. That way you don't have to adjust the force control.
      I set force controls anywhere from a 3 to a 5. Some older machines you have to turn up with age.
      Hope this helps!
      Please ask if you have any more questions.

      We were able to get it to close normally by pulling down on the red string multiple times. What does this mean? We’ve had this motor for a long time and have had to had it fixed. The open setting is on 9, the close setting is on 7-8.

    • @garagedoorgenius
      @garagedoorgenius  4 роки тому +1

      Sometimes those machines will reach their max settings. If your door doesn't have any resistance going up and down and is fairly easy to operate, you may need to replace the board or the unit.

    • @garagedoorgenius
      @garagedoorgenius  4 роки тому +1

      So I was thinking. Hook up the opener back to the door. Run the door down. When it gets about waist high, grab the bottom of the door and apply some upward resistance. Are you able to stop it or does it continue down? If you're able to stop it with ease, then yes the board needs changed out. Or a new unit. If seems like you can't stop it by applying pressure , then your force controls are good. It's another issue then.

    THANK YOU. my garage will stop fir no reason no matter how many tines I adjust those damn side sensors! This video is 4 years old hopefully you're still around. Is it bad to constantly use the force control or only when the garage won't cooperate because like twice a week my darn garage door will refuse to close

    • @garagedoorgenius
      @garagedoorgenius  3 роки тому +1

      If your door reverses back open and the light bulb blinks 10 times on the machine that is 100% for sure a safety sensor issue. No force controls required.
      However if you're trying to open the door and it just stops or if you're trying to close the door and it just stops, then that is a force control issue.
      Also it's wise to work the door manually periodically just to see how it feels by itself. Sometimes a struggling out of shape door will cause those force controls to kick into action. A lot of times some good lubricant will break free bearings and lubricate moving parts. That generally will get your door working good. Sometimes it's a good idea to have a garage door tech come out and just adjust it.

    My liftmaster p3 security+ 2.0 wasnt closing and I was getting 3 up blinks and 2 down blinks. Error pointed to my travel module. I un-plugged the opener for safety, then took cover off and removed travel module. Took it apart and there are two gears and two "hall sensors" or look-across sensors. I cleaned the hall sensors and small PCB board with electronic cleaner "get at most auto parts store" and used a Air nozzle to dry it. Put it back together and now my door closes and works again! Your opener will have blink codes based on the error it is getting. The best thing to do when its not working is look at the blink codes, go to the manufacturers support website to determine whats wrong. Mine was the travel module and they sell for about $22 but I didnt want to start replacing things without trying to clean mine first. It worked for me. Thought I would share.

HE changed my springs and now my door is doing the same thing.
    Hey do you have a video that can teach me how to disable my remote control so that my door can't be opened by remote when I go away but rather can only be opened by the code panel or the button on my wall. So the problem like in the video could be from, cold weather, a garage door that operates rough (needs serviced), or just set low from the get go.

      When adjusting that setting (up), it's always good to manually operate the door first. See if it goes up and down smoothly. If it's really heavy to lift open and won't stay open, the door needs adjusted then.
      If it's smooth running manually, then adjusting the force controls is the fix!
