Deee-Lite is a house and club/dance group known for their 1990 crossover smash "Groove Is In The Heart," dance chart hits “Power Of Love,” “Good Beat,” and their albums ‘World Clique,’ ‘Infinity Within,’ and ‘Dewdrops in the Garden.’
Deee-Lite was formed in 1986 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn by vocalist Lady Miss Kier and multi-instrumentalist Super DJ Dmitry and became popular in the New York club scene as a vibrant and lively dance act known for their unique Holographic Techno Soul, psychedelic light show, and innovative art direction. Jungle DJ Towa Towa officially joined the group in 1989 contributing production on the first album and both songwriting and production on the second. Deee-Lite broke up in 1993 but all three artists continue to deejay to this day.
2024 still my jam for pulling myself out of the stunk and into the funk. Love you Dee-Lite! Thank you!
It’s 1991 and I’m 19 listening to this for the first time ❤
How did I fail to really appreciate Deee-lite until 2024? I guess that’s a sign that they were ahead of their time. Or maybe I’m just slow.
This was the kind of creative club/art/street kids we were in the late 80's-early 90's NYC!!! We made our clothes, dumpster dived. It was heaven.
Still fresh ❤ absolutely Love Deee-Lite
We danced our asses off when this album came out
When these guys came out, there was nothing else like them. There still isn't. One of a kind.
Absolutely. The kids today will never know. They think they do, but they don’t 😆
This came out 3 years before I was born. I would do anything to go live in NYC in the late 80s and witness this scene flourish.
I understand how you feel, but you'd also be dealing with untreatable HIV, and it's devastation on the arts community in NYC and everywhere else. I was 30 in 1988 and these were frightening, sorrowful years. Believe me, you would not to relive them.
One hit wonder more like.
I'm 14 in 2019 and I'm a Deee-Lite fan :-)
Dee-lite dancing in those hourglass shape heels!
I remember "Power of Love" was always considered secondary to "Groove is in the Heart," but in some ways this song is actually better. While "Groove" is fun and flashy, "Power of Love" sounds more mature.
Dee-Lite in daaa House
I love the vibe of this song..Good times.❤❤❤
This is exactly what i need right now.. the girl singing, the colors, the people dancing, the good stuff, the keyboards sound, the flowers, the whole damn thing give it to me
I remember when Deee-Lite was the musical guest on SNL and did this song, you have no idea how long "eyay eyay" part of this song haunted me and I didn't find it again until like the early 2000s.
I have listen Deelite,s album..in hospital in 2002..it was one of the best House album I ever heard.
I saw them live in SF and not one person in the audience was sitting down. It was a wall to wall party. Add Bootsy to the mix and this was one of the BEST concerts I've ever been to. Even my metal loving boyfriend was digging it. Two hours of nonstop dancing.
I'm so jello rn. You saw both! Serotonin overload. Sadly now I'm in sw Florida and concerts are a Rapefest here. You must be in se Florida. I used to live there, kick ass concerts.
I was there too. Absolute joy, a wonderful upbeat happy audience, and what a great show! "How do you say ... San Francisco?"
That does sound like a fun time!
miss lady kier is such an inspiration 🥹🥹🥹
1991, in college, in the club, drunk, listening to this at midnight and life was perfect.
1991 in the Army - stop college - on weed. it was good too.
cookaboorra Excellent. Whatever makes you happy.
The 90's were great!
+johnnyatab the best time of my life!!!
So long ago. Sweet memories of carefree fun times. I used to dance my ass off and was the bomb in fashion with my miniskirt clunky mary janes and piggy tails in my hair. I loved college and the 90s!
*Iconic timeless Art Pop*

Really look at video!
Still fresh! Funkiness is Timeless!
"World Clique" was a classic from start to finish. It took the influence of 70s funk, international electronica (like Pizzicato Five), and late 80s house to make a whole new vibe. It was one of my favorites when it was released. Great album!
Really good era of pop with the rave and pop cross over. i love all the flowers!! it's really inspiring for a new music video i'm working on :)
My favorite song from this group… ❤️❤️❤️
Deee-Lite was the BEST that came out of '90s music.
omg for any RuPaul's Drag Race fans out there, I totally see where Violet Chachki got her inspiration for her Hello Kitty look-- the astronaut-type helmet made out of flowers!! Violet is a huge fan of Deee-Lite-- the first thing she said when she walked into the workroom on Season 7 was "Oh, la la, la LA LA LA LA LA...." and I caught her wearing a Deee-Lite tee-shirt during her exit lunch with RuPaul. GOD I LOVE THAT WOMAN
Okay-- Thierry Mugler-- I get it now lmao
Nothing and nobody brought me here, except the power of love. Was 15 years old when I first heard this on a promo disk.
When this song came out I was shopping at the Goodwill to look cool. Now I shop there because it's all I can afford.
Before cell phones and social media. They were innovative and mixed ideas and fashion to create a unique style all their own. Now everyone’s trying to do that. Pretty soon there won’t be anything left to do. I’m so glad I was young in a time when originality still existed.
Its end of 2023 and I am still in love with the power of love ❤
These guys should’ve been a lot bigger, but they were just too far ahead of their time. This stuff doesn’t sound old at all. Still fresh.
just lementing that fact myself. i think its poor management. that first hit was such a monster how do you follow that up? its a shame because the voice and the talent was
there
They were WAY AHEAD of their time and way underappreciated. Maybe they were time travellers from the future? Their music is amazing and Lady Miss Kier is so freaking gorgeous I've loved her since high school when this was released! Never forget nobody ever made music like Deee-Lite!
@@johnny5isalive2020 this is the music I listened to in the 1960s and early 70s. I wish this were the current music. Maybe the whole world would calm itself the fuck down. We are officially now in the Age of Aquarius again.
@@artiste1954 How do you listen to this type of music in the 60s & 70s? This was produced in the 90s. Are you a time traveler like Miss Kier?
@@Jumpoable it is reminiscent of the type of music we listened to in the 60s 70s, hence her clothing is designed after that era as well as her hairdo. Do you think I'm senile or do you think you're smart?
Saw them live in ‘95 in the most packed show. They were were not lying about being all about the LOVE. It was like watching a cartoon or something.
they were sooooo freaking talented yet so UNDERATED. they were amazing.......I will forever will be a DEEE LITE FAN.
WAAAAAY ahead of their time. If she had "happened" today, she'd be Lady Gaga.
Absolutely. I still can’t accurately explain what Deee-Lite does to me even after all these years.
Info from the inside, the fall came from within, from one person actually. Can’t work with crazy. It’s too bad really.
it's just what music of pure joy and abandon does to many of us! It's Deee-Wonderful.
Gaga isn't the measure of everything.
She makes me happy! :) ♡♡♡
I always loved this 90s House sound. Gotta bring it back and yes they are so positive in their music. GOTTA LOVE IT!!!!
#DeeeLite
Azealia Banks
So disco
Azealia Banks is the only one current and doing this sound
#Disclosure has this sound
I'm talking,
I'm talking
I believe in the power of love
Love lady miss kier. She was and still is da bomb.
This is a classic. It so deserves more views and comments. Really Deee-Lite is all around classic. This is so much better than the crap the industry pushes now a days.
I like their somewhat late 60s space age look
xXx_Nightstalker_xXx And what is that can bring a smile😊👍😉😁 to a stranger.
Nah more like 1970s disco.
Absolutely underrated faboulous group. The best band of the 90's.
This should be in a time capsule for the galactic family to view one day in the future. Earths message of love ❤️
The 90's loved the 70's disco sound
SO RIDICULOUSLY ahead of her time.
Kerry F "Ridiculously"? Just because it's an overused word doesn't mean you have to use it.
So true! way ahead
+Kerry F Is not ridiculously! I love Miss Lady Kier!
jackdev73 Just because someone uses a word doesn't mean you have to be an asshat...
+Kerry F i looooooove it
It sounds Fantastic! 😊😊😊😊😊
Limelight NYC… back in the day. Still sampled and super relevant today!
Danielle Petty Wow...Limelight! New York was fabulous if you were a club kid!
That place was the Place to be!!!!!!
Disco 2000!
Limelight !!!
They were the pure representation of the flower children of house music at that time...especially in New York/New Jersey in the late 80s/early 90s! Miss those days! And the John Fluevog shoes....Major Statement!
Very true, Chicago too, but smaller scene.
Me Too that Acid House
fluevog's got Kier's boots in his window in SoHo still. House mUsic 4ever!
This continues to be a go-to song for me. Used to go to Chicago to see you when I was living/studying in Madison.
Eight days ago my little 21+ year old dog Pomeranian 'Mister Baby' died in my arms during a seizure, no pulse, no heartbeat, no breathing, completely gone. From deep within me as I was overtaken by grief, several minutes after he had passed, but still holding his little body in my arms, I screamed at the top of my lungs in my voice of god voice "I LOVE YOU MISTER BABY!!!!!!!!"
and he came back!
Mister Baby took a HUGE gasp of air, his heart started POUNDING, he looked at me like "WTF is going on?!!!" and HE LIVES!!!!!!
So yes, I believe in the power of love, and this song is the ANTHEM for that!!!
Thank you for all the joy, love, and fun you have brought, and will continue to bring ino this world, where it is much needed!!!
I'm both sad and glad that I didn't discover this band back in the 90's, because it gave me a chance to do it later in life. Can't get enough of them. And all of this pre-autotune. Pure original voice. No one can sing like Ms. Lady Kier!
Lots of Korg M1 with some Roland TR-909 and other samples. Definitely the sound of the late 80's/early 90's house music before grunge came.
PURE JOY!
Adore Lady Miss Kier Kirby. Beautiful in all ways! Deee-Liteful!
These guys were so ahead of they're time. Cool band.
If this song does not bring a smile to your face, urge to sing, and dance....Then you have no soul.
Even almost 30 years later I can sing the lyrics like it was yesterday!!! They were my favorite in Freshman year!!!
IKR!
Yes obsessed with this as a teenager . On repeat. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. 💋
SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIFE IN THE 90'S...
🤘😵💫🤘
FABULOUS!! I believe in Deee-Lite.
These guys were so ahead of they're time. Cool band.
Limelight NYC… back in the day. Still sampled and super relevant today!
I love the '90s for Lady Miss Kier of Deee-lite! I can't wait for see and hear it in 2022! Seriously! 💕❤️💛💚💙
FEEEEEEEEEL THE POWER! wow i love this song.....ahhhh the 90's......
As a boomer from San Diego, these guys were far and away my fav.dance band of the 90's along with Jamiroquai, saw hem both ,dance three hours straight up!
You boomers need to talk more about your generation's artists. I think many don't have a clue.
This group was innovative in all aspects.
How did they not make more music? Lady Miss Keer is so flawless, so different and has such an amazing voice I’ll never understand it... everybody’s making a comeback, so should Deee-Lite!
Ahh, the early 90's house jams that made my weekends perfect. Best about 1991: Music was da serious sheet, everything was cheap, and there was NO social media. You went out and lived life.
If you can find it, Deee-Lite performed this live on SNL, absolutely amazing show and so hyped to see them. Keep groovin to these psychedelic beats in 2024 and beyond!
This song gives me chills when I listen to it, I still blast this song. Cause I believe.
this is some next level ear and eye candy.
love my 90s House Music
Me too
❤❤❤❤ I still believe in the power of love!!! Now and forever!!!
Still one of the best dance tunes out there
She makes me smile. What a dynamo! Fantastic voice!
+Bellairatone Deee Lite and their music always put a smile on my face.
She is the mother sound of all lady Gaga and any winehouse
one of the BEST VOICES ever.
This will always be one of my favorite songs ever along with alot of Deee's songs
She has a great voice that can really project
There was talk in the clubbing scene in the 90s, that these guys were time travelers from the future...in 2021..I think it's true .. still sounds so fresh..
Lol, our minds were BLOWN! By the music of course. Literally couldn't easily be classified.
Still extremely relevant in 2020.
They remain a brick of my musical culture. Deee-lightful!
They had a lot more to give. Super talented and ahead of there time
I miss them...I love this song and groove is in the heart...they get me in a good mood, make you wanna dance
I love the way the guy in the jumpsuit dance! I believe
knowing them brought me here, in 1990 there no one else so - truly one of a kind .-
Where has time gone but I still belive in the power of love
Wishing dee-groovy dee-gorgeous Lady Kier a dee-fabulous birthday.. Good times
ahead of their time!
you summed it up dead on exactly with just a short sentence my friend. glad I grew up during this era and in my opinion, the ending of "artistry" in the industry!!
I watch this video at least once week. It depends of how depressed I am. This song and video gives me so much good vibes!! I Love it to life!
If this is Lady miss Kier on this channel now I love you forever! Your music genre creates a positive message for us of all ages and color equality! I hope this positive message gets to you insight.
They really improved this song on the video version from the album version. The same thing happened with Good Beat.
Absolutely
TIMELESS BANG 💐💐💐
One of those songs which always bring a smile to your face....
Lady Miss K, the Space-Age Dolly!
2020! None is like Deee-lite!!!
This whole album was slamming. I played it to death.
dee lite so underrated.....deserves alot more credit...and still looks great
so true john !!
Especially they should be credited in Mandonna's 'rescue me'.
@@madgecopycat2577 So I am not the only one who is convinced that Madonna's "Rescue Me" came out of this song
@@helloskinny510 Nope, I saw it on Aisha's website judicary report, listened to both and agreed. The similar melody, music and the same line "I believe in a power of love". There are plenty more people who think so.
At least they all did well afterwards
Reminds me of high school.. This song was always my favorite Dee lite song
They was the power of love ❤
Deee-Lite always and forever 🌸
Man, she is charismatic, I'll say that. Wow.
i love you Deee-lite
Excellent brilliant music from the late 80s
Wow I love this song❤
If u didn't think she was adorable you weren't a 90s man about to get into rave over the next few years when Dee lite were about.
dee lite power of love real house music u gotta love it..
