Actually I shot this video. Towa was just beside me and grabbing radio casette player. We spent a groovy day at wall street and Brooklyn. Then half year later I made " groove is in the heart"video.Thanks.
I think this song is a kind of "lost media", a very catchy song but I can't find it anywhere, I'm still waiting for that album that was announced and it never came out. Come on deee-lite make me happy once again.
Deee-Lite made music fun! Letting people on the streets vibe along with them! They were true artists! They truly embraced the "world clique", if you will!! I'd love to see more groups like them come out these days!
My God! For all the times I've viewed this video, how the hell did I not recognize the channel name? Hiroyuki Nakano, the brilliant mind behind the truly iconic "Groove is in the Heart" video! I need to be selfish for a moment and take this opportunity to tell you how big an influence this video had on me. My apologies if it's lengthy. I grew up a little gay boy in northwestern Wisconsin. Far from anything or anyone I could relate to as I entered my teens. I was eleven the first time I saw the Lady Miss KIer appear on the black screen, the words "Faux Fur" above her to make a statement they were passionate about. Like most kids, my mother would find me glued to the television only to tell me for the one hundredth time it would ruin my eyes. With that first explosion of colour and the Lady atop her little go-go box, I was transfixed. And as the camera pushed forward through the dancers, I thought to myself "That's where I belong." Shortly thereafter, I'd gone to my public library and pulled all of the articles on Deee-Lite I could. A Newsweek article described Deee-Lite's lead singer as "a woman impersonating a drag queen." I had no idea what that was, so I asked my mother. She answered honestly and she's regretted it ever since. Upon graduating high school, I reinvented myself entirely with my own drag persona and set out to find the glitterati, those wonderful midnight children from that beautifully trippy music video. I've now been a drag performer for *coughs* twenty-six years and "Groove is in the Heart" is my signature song. Whenever I've performed the song in nightclubs, I've used projected visuals similar to the mesmerizing backgrounds of your video. In my quest for all things Deee-Lite, I knew your name well and in something of a tribute years later, I named one of my drag daughters after you (her name was Kitanah Kim Nakano). Thank you so much for giving so many of us such a vivid time capsule of sorts. The song, while a classic on its own, is almost impossible to listen to without having it evoke bright and beautiful memories of the video you directed instantly flooding the mind. I highly doubt I'm the only kid out there who saw it as a form of escapism whenever they watched it back then. To us, "Groove is in the Heart" was more than just a music video in heavy rotation on MTV - it was a lifeline and one that I'm personally forever grateful for. xoxox Miss Dee-Lovely
@@HolyRollerTV yes of course, but that was in that time. what i mean is, there was no dance music like this in the 90s and they put their own spin/mix on it

Such a good Singer. Back when I was 16, my first Hippy girlfriends said, "You look like Deelite"!! Groove is in the Heart, first came out. Years later, I met Lady Miss Kier in Chicago at, "Big Sexy Bass" a Rave Party and I told Her. She hugged Me and said, "I can see that"!!
this is beautiful. passersby joining in the jam, feeling the beat and the vibe. always, deeelite embodied a welcoming energy of nothing but love. true artists, born for light. there will never be another deee lite, and no one can hold a candle to their music nor their utter commitment to acceptance and tolerance
This is so beautiful, the way they dance with those kids and everyone's happy and totally into it. Thank you so much for sharing this video. True artists in every sense of the word.
Love this track! Loved Deee-Lite since the beginning. Lady Miss Kier with the ever beautiful voice. Thank you so much for sharing! Never understood why they were considered a one hit wonder cuz far as I knew they had catalogues of music in their discography. Was fortunate and happened to be out at a club in Vail and DJ Dimitri was spinning that night. It was amazingly euphoric and the place was packed with the best dance energy. Such incredibly good times. 😌💙🖤✨
The only place where I've seen that is in Rio de Janeiro, and it's been going on forever. So you can get back to it, for sure, but it's kind of dangerous.
This is such a cute fun video of Dee-Lite vibing with everyday people, especially loved seeing them jaming with the neighborhood kids, just having good clean fun with nothing but positive vibes. Definitely something that's missing in today's crazy world. I'm definitely generation x hear at 56 and Dee-lite was definitely a big part of my life's sound track in my early 20's from clubbing to raving and chilling at home and in the park. Those were the best times! 😊
Loved watching this blast from the past. Also fascinated watching when the camera meant something different to passersby. A little apprehensive to shine in front of it, now these days, cameras in public is a almost the norm.
Damn, Lady Miss Keir really is so flawless, and that voice was f hers isn’t ‘1 hit wonder” good.. its actually skilled, soulful, unique and beautiful ❣️🙌🏽🙌🏽
True that, in a perfect world... Madonna who? But then, here we are. Creeps in the music industry promote the $hit out of Madonna and purposely keep Kier down. Snuffed out figuratively in her prime.
@laartwork Lady Kier was vibing she was on the runways, made her own outfits, and was an inspiration to a video game called Space Channel 5, which she did not get credit for.
Oh man this is so Cool! I was and still am a great fan of deee lite. That vibe that started late 80’s and became really predominant in the 90’s you still feel in this video and it was real. We need some of that now a days. So much hate and polarization now a days. In the 90’s it felt like the future is good the future is bright, we had harmony love and peace.
Wow. Just wow. What an incredible piece of video. And what a time to be alive. I have to say ... Seeing Dmitri with his hair out ... he looks like Gene Simmons' long lost brother!
I remember old people hating Groove is in the Heart because it was made up of all samples and no actual original tracks by real musicians. So old people complaining about "today's music" is the one thing that never changes.
So the song is stuck in my head, again. I'm telling ya'll, Deee Lite really needs to find it within them to release this song and give their fans a true gift for the 2020s. How many asked about the song she is singing in these comments? Come on DL, put it online, sell it and the video yourselves, get a stack of cash and make the people happy because we sure need a DeeeLite party anthem in 2024!
OMG an authentic 1980's NYC. I was there too kids.. just groovin in a different hood at that moment.. I did love, do love and will love your music forevaaaa.

Deee-Lite is the perfect example of being INSPIRED by classic music and style and updating it for the time they're in, not just blatantly ripping off or sampling without any understanding of the source.
People dancing and having a good time like this on the streets would have the cops called on them in 2022 because some angry person would get offended by the fun being had. People just cant have any fun of any kind anymore because they gave up on freedom for safe spaces that aren’t safe. At least I was able to have fun when I was young without fear of harm. Deee-Lite and Lady Kier was so talented and fearless and it really showed through their music.
