While they'll never reunite, I _did_ hear something rather shocking a few weeks back that could hint that they're being rediscovered: Their third album, _Dewdrops in the Garden_ has apparently overtaken _World Clique_ sales-wise. If true, that's no small feat: ""Groove is in the Heart" was their one truly massive hit from _World Clique_ and that album was heavily promoted by Elektra Records. In comparison, new (read: younger) fans are heralding _Dewdrops_ as one of the greatest underground rave classics that had no promotion at all outside of the band funding and touring the big raves of the mid-1990's.
Kieran, nom de guerre Lady Miss Kier. She had her own unique style, weird, kind of funny, but in the pocket, and totally her own, that's what made it good!
no words. shaped my 90's life. so fun and raved and awesome. I love them forever and timeless....Lady Miss Kier is a fashion and dance move icon. love her and the whole group/vibe!
I saw Deee-Lite a few times, they were always very funky! Once I saw them in Malibu at a tiny club, on a very tiny stage, a few feet away from me when I wanted. Love them!
It's great to be reminded that at one time talent AND style mattered. And, please remember this, she sang this WITHOUT that destroyer of modern music, autotune. She could belt out a song in the studio, and on stage while dancing continuously.
I remember she and her bandmates came into THE CUPPUNG ROOM on broome street in NY city decades ago.. Our magnificent bartender (Robert) was able to get an audition with THE band before they went on tour that year. What a beautiful memory. Almost like yesterday.
Yeah, but autotune’s just a different style, depending on what you’re going for. It’s like someone from a previous generation complaining that this song doesn’t even have real drums. e.g. “Back in my day we had real drummers and they had talent!” I see room for both the natural way and a more programmed style.
This is true. Saw them back in the day and she was on point in vocals and dance moves. None of that choreographed crap that they all do now. MLKK was a powerhouse
This group was all about fun. In their day they were, very, groovy. Very, now. Very, new. And very, "Deee-liteful." Also very short lived and very, deserving of more success. Thank you, "lady Kier."
