Karlac could use the monsterhunters heavy crossbow, she uses ranged weapons occasionally and that occasional use is better than not using it

because hes literally not proficient with it, so none of the bonuses it has will apply, and disadvantage on all shots with it.@@jethprimero7565
Not too spoil too much but if you want Halsin to actually join your party you'll need to do another quest revolve around him
I love that they let you push bosses off of ledges. You just have to decide if the loot they would drop is worth it to you. I know when I fought the witch she made a deal for her life that gave me an ability point in trade. Will probably regret that later..... Amazing game.
So, late to the party because I wanted to experience parts of the game myself first, but I love your play style - it makes me play the game differently and inspires me to run a second playthrough.
Just so people are aware, you can engage the hag at any point - even kill her in that room if you surprise her, then reveal her and hit her with 115-odd damage in one turn - two or more if you can consistently knock her down, costing her an action.
It’s really hard, I won’t lie, I had to save-scum it after I totally wiffed in a way that felt rubbish. But my play-as-Lae’zel playthrough has… a lot of direct approaches to situations. I’ve never hit the ‘attack’ button so often!
It doesn’t seem to break the rest of the quest - all the other bits of her home act as if she’s dead. But for me it did break Mayrina’s reactions afterwards - she was stuck in a loop in that chair, crying, rather than being moved to by her husband so you can give her the wand. That’s listed as a known and fixed bug, but my save is locked into it. YMMV. Honestly, she’s so annoying even my ‘a little less facist earlier on’ Lae’zel had no time for her whining.
Hey Pally, love the videos. You should really start playing Shadowheart like a caster rather than a melee fighter. She doesn't really have the strength for it, and her higher wisdom mod makes her hit chance with spells much better. Her sacred flame cantrip is better than fire bolt because fire bolt is a wizard cantrip, so it uses intelligence. I believe sacred flame is a dex saving throw based on level, and it isn't affected by highground bonuses.
Edit: sacred flame's saving throw is based on wisdom modifier + 10, not caster level.
Or he can just respec her into doing whatever he want, that's also an option
But I get it, her true potential not being explored does feel wasteful
Yeah I respecced her to be a tempest cleric with max wis, str then con and min dex, int, cha. I do however have her equipped with headband of warped intellect item, so her firebolt is still good. She is much better now, while still being a cleric of Shar. Also sacred flame save is 8 + wisdom modifier + proficiency bonus, so your character level is a factor.

i really like your lets plays of this game. Your style and personality really mix well with a game that has a lot of character development and story.
It's awesome to see how different playstyles are accommodated. I wanted a straightforward character for my first playthrough since I didn't partake in the Early Access, so I made myself a Berserker. Now me and Karlach beat people up while Shadowheart and Gale stay back and cast. I know my party is missing a rogue to cover all bases, but I'm having tons of easy, straightforward fun.
Not using a rogue can be fun
I particularly like Pally strategic thinking while using the shadows and line of sight of enemies and trying to approach the scenarios in the best way he can
But there's something beautiful with just going gun's blazing, punching your adversaries in the face while being imortal with infinite heals and buffs
Only just found your channel you are hillarious! new fan. My frames were great in act one but my frames have just got worse in this new place im in (no spoilers). Im so scared about what being in Baldurs Gate is going to do to my PC 😅

Your excitement in this game is contagious! Karlach's push/throw is turning out to be the deadliest tool in the kit :)
It's how I beat the hag. Got lucky with her being very close to the edge. Knocked her down with the elk charge and then shoved her down the hole. Would have never thought about it if she didn't decide to spawn where she did.
I hope he finds the returning javelin, it's such a cool weapon, and makes throws op!

If your party is grouped up and you throw a potion at the ground it will heal everyone instead of one person

One tip to keeping Shadowheart safer. Use the Invoke Duplicity = For the duration, you can cast spells as though you were in the illusion's space, but you must use your own senses.(ie Cure Wounds, etc.) Additionally, when both you and your illusion are within 5 feet of a creature that can see the illusion, you have advantage on attack rolls against that creature, given how distracting the illusion is to the target.

Karlach being apparently nervous has an interesting choice of words which could've been interpreted as "Yeah, I guess you're better than anything" if not for her obvious enthusiasm :D
"put them in the pit" is the "throw em in the lava!!" of this run
I killed the masks right away... that allowed me to grab a crate to block the vents. Pick up, not drag so it goes to your invent. Drink a poison (or acid cant remember the type of dmg now) resist elixir on the character thats going to be blocking the vents (I used Asta to detect and disarm the exploding flowers).
Well karlach isn't shy that's for sure

In my playthrough managed to kill the hag on the turn she goes invisible when you meet her initially in the cottage. Didn't expect to, but makes quite the difference when descending lower into her lair. I was level 5 however, so that made a big difference.
Loving the BG3 content. Still a bit behind though as I'm only watching the stuff that I've done already.
Playing through as a paladin. I was disappointed to not have an option to outright SMITE Mayrina on the spot after I heard she planned to hand over a newborn to that hag.
To be fair she was being completely indoctrinated into truly believing that was her son best option
A true paladin would make her see the truth!

I had astarion in my party when I saw the hunter as well, he really wanted to kill the hunter but he decided not to. I may have interrupted him or something idk
Mephits are not demon nor devil. Imps are devils not demons. Quasits are demons not devils. Important in D&D to note the difference as Demons are rather different from Devils in how they act.
Mephits are minor elementals. So a mud mephit is a bit of earth and water elements.

Yeah i managed to kill hag and they stopped attacking.
Also a tip: use turn based mode to initiate combat. That way You get suprise round.

Oh Pally, please I beg you, replace Shadowheart's potato masher. It only does 1-4 damage if I recall correctly, almost anything would be better and you use her melee frequently.
Mephits are not devils or demons, but are actually minor elementals who are created when two different elements mix. They are still horrible little creatures who should be destroyed, though.

So why STR hex instead of Dex hex... Doesn't Dex reduce their AC to make it easier to hit them?
My assumption is that Pally likes to push people with eldrich blast, and strength hex makes it easier for the enemy to lose their balance with said blast

He can't join your party until act 2.
Did Pally use the infernal iron to power up his girlfriend or does he have to wait until the party gets to Baldur's Gate and the smith sets up shop again?
Has to wait till Baldur’s Gate to get to Dammon’s workshop.
To fix her heart yea you have to reach baldurs gate, at least that's what you are told. To power her up however you use the soul coins as consumables not the infernal iron. I have not tried the coins yet though I don't want to find out if it can be bad for her
