My first time watching The Mummy (1999) ! This movie was just perfect! I love just all the details. (p.s. you can see what I am talking about if you watch my reaction) 😉.
Fantastic cast - Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah! And a really memorable villain - Arnold Vosloo! All the main characters like Rick O'Connell, Evelyn Carnahan, and Imhotep will remain in my heart and memory. I will definitely rewatch this masterpiece in my own time.
Also I made makeup in the Egyptian style. I hope you liked it, guys😃
So, let's watch my The Mummy (1999) reaction together! 😎

Brendan Fraser actually injured his neck and back in the hanging scene...suffers from it to this day. The sequel is just as good.

Not only he permanently injury his neck & back, he actually almost lost his life as he lost consciousness lying on the ground and the management crew or whoever in charge from what I’ve heard let him lie there abit before trying to see if he was doing okay (I don’t know how long it was that he was left lying on the ground before they rushed over to check on him).

Wrong. That's an urban legend that Brendan has perpetuated for sympathy. Simon Crane, the stunt coordinator took the drop. Brendan (Drama Queen that he is) tightened the noose and stood on his tip toes and fainted. There were hundreds of witnesses there in the apartment complex they used for the prison. Brendan doesn't think any of those people have the internet. They do. He tells people in bars that the scar on his neck is from The Mummy, it's from thyroid surgery in 2012. The only back injury he had was also in 2012. Google Hurricane Sandy 2012 and his name. He was drunk. Again. That's how he lost out on Journey 2. He refused to go to rehab. That, and the restraining order from Josh Hutcherson's parents.
He had plenty of stuntmen. Simon Crane, Joey Preston, Mark Henson, Lahlali Zakaria, Rob Inch, and Mark Mottram.

The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie.
    Side trivia:
    1. In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took four hours to apply).
    2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison, which resulted in him being resuscitated by on-set medical personnel.
    3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move.
    4. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.

Imhotep was real. He was a doctor and architect. He built many structures that still exist today. Eventually, he was turned into a God, more like a cult really.

Remember what Evey said about the curse placed on Imhotep that should a victim of said curse arise, they'd bring with them the Ten Plagues of Egypt. That's what was happening, first the locusts, then the blood water, then the rain of fire, then blocked out the sun, then flies and knats, etc.

During a portion of Egyptian history, the Hebrew people lived in the Land of Goshen in Egypt's Sani peninsula. During some of this time, some accounts refer to the Hebrews as slaves of the Pharaoh. Benny was reciting a psalm in Hebrew. Imhotep referrers to this as, "the language of the slaves.:

Great reaction. I grew up at my grandparents house and this was one of my grandmothers favourite films. She was the type of person that had a few films that she utterly adored and would watch them almost on a loop. And I also love this one so every time she watched it, I watched with her. And it’s really nice to see younger people watching it for the first time and being so into it. I hope you enjoy the sequel just as much. I can’t speak for anyone else but I know I did.

Some very old revolvers were "Single Action" meaning that the hammer (the little tab at the top of the gun) had to be pulled back to "cock" the gun, then the trigger was pulled to release the hammer.
The revolvers being used here were "Double Action", meaning that pulling the trigger would 1st cock the hammer, then release it.
Some people were convinced that if you held the trigger back, and just pulled and released the hammer manually (called "fanning") that the gun could be fired faster. This was generally not true.

This is one of those rare movies where the second one is as good as the first. And this one was really good; romance, action, drama and comedy. Elena, you asked about Weisz, yes you still have facial features very close to Her's, Plus you are wearing an Isis bracket to go with you makeup so great job preparing for this movie.

O'Connor, Jonathan Hyde, Patricia Velásquez as Anck-su-namun and music score by Jerry Goldsmith. This was the film I thought would take Brendan Fraser into the Action Adventure Hero role and make him big just like Harrison Ford. Sadly, that never happened. This role showed us that he could have been another Indiana Jones, just one with a little more comedy. I can't say that I have a favorite scene in this film because I like all of it! I'm glad you got a chance to see it, and I think it's really cool that you take the time to do a little bit to reflect the movie. In this case, it was the make up, though none of us would have complained if you had worn an outfit like the Queen in the beginning of the film! Just sayin'...😉

Hi Elena, great to see you!😊 This film and its sequel "The Mummy Returns" (2001) are both enjoyable films. The 3rd film is not that great, IMO. They recast the lead actress Rachel Weisz (Evie) with another actress and the film suffers for it.😢 The bugs are "Scarb Beetles". I think you look like Rachel Weisz, Elena. But, I like your nose better. I think a woman with a more prominent nose, draws you to the center of their face, to appreciate their beauty more. Great reactions to this well made action film, Elena!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

Fun fact, in these scenes, 13:29 where Eveline is in a nightgown, they had to go back in post production and paint the gown because somehow, no one with the power to change things noticed that it was see through. Her boobs were basically visible. They had to fix it since a. the actress hadn't agreed to do any nudity, and b. even if she was okay with it, it would have raised the rating of the film too much, but it was too late to reshoot those scenes to they had to fix it frame by frame.

Some ladies like Ms. Weisz, the striking (and hilariously charming) Katie McGrath, and the lovely you, our dear Miss (or Misses Rea, if you are married) Rea, have some premium ancestry where facial structure is concerned. Almost like the rest of us are work horses and you are an Andalusian purebred.
