I think at this point, he could only step up his game by creating an app or something that would help his fans in learning all popular cube puzzles. i personally found very few "comprehensive guides" on cube puzzles, and most only focus on one or two cube sizes, so it would be amazing to see a youtuber like this one go way above and beyond, and do what nobody did yet, at least to my knowledge.
For the smallest magnetic cube possible you might be able to make it work with magnetic balls. There will probably be some issue but it could be just passable enough to qualify.
@@gavinspeedcuber4141Actually, using a small ball bearing or other ferromagnetic material in the corner could free the edges to have much bigger magnets, letting the magnets do the heavy lifting while the iron (lets say) in the corners just does what it does best. And, in that way, small ball bearings would be ideal for the corners, since even if the bearings were to become magnetized themselves (i.e. doing an R1000 for no reason), they could rotate to help attract the magnets.
I am going to use this as reference for my 57mm cube that I've had for a decade and decided to glue magnets into after watching a couple of videos showing the angle snapping of more modern speedcubes.
Could you have used the slightly smaller magnets you showed at 2:03, in place of the larger ones just in the edge pieces at 5:03? Might they have fit without having to do any cutting? And where do you get your magnets? And what size magnets did you use?
I just made this after watching this video. Took me about 2 and a half hours total. I, honestly, can't tell much of a difference. Maybe Z3 is trying to upsell the video, which is totally fine, that's youtube, but I don't agree on the end result. is it noticeable? Yes. If YOU ARE the one who did the modification and have paid super close attention. I gave the pre-mod to my woman and let her turn it, then I let her turn it after the mod and even she said she couldn't feel much of a difference. After a few solves, I agree. It's TECHNICALLY noticeable, but not THAT noticeable... Either way, it was a fun experience. Hopefully others try this :)
So did I, and I agree the affect is not a very strong magnetic feeling. I bought 2mm by 2mm magnets for the build, so I wonder whether that was the reason, as the 4mm by 1-2mm magnets used in many speedcubes are multiple times stronger. Did you use smaller magnets like I did, or full size magnets with the cut-down edge piece insides? Still a fun challenge, and I can feel the difference enough to not regret trying it, I just wonder if I'd have benefitted from bigger magnets.
I think its not worth the time. Specially after reading your, and the sub comment. But im left with the doubt, is the strength of the magnet the problem? Maybe you didnt use strong enough magnets.
The magnets are too tightly packed to have much of an effect on the specific one it's trying to magnetise to. I think it was mostly just making it seem like it was worth the time for the content and because of all that lube and it being worn in.
i personally can't try it out because of several limitations (money, time, skill, etc) but in his defense he _did_ say that it was only a moderate effect that had a soft magnetic snap
hey thanks for inspiring me to do the same mod! i drimmeled the plastic a bit thin on the edges for slightly stronger magnets, and loosened the tensions a quarter turn (which is a ton for this tiny cube haha) and it is dead silent and turns like a dream
Just got into cubing started with a 2x2 that got here like 3 days ago and I’m under 10 seconds not impressed compared to other people but I just ordered a moyu rs3 M 2020 hoping I can solve it under a minute
gunna be hard at first, 2x2 are like the edges of a 3x3, and it is impressive you just starting and getting under 10 seconds, but with a 3x3 a little advice, do ALOT of muscle memory lol, for example solve the first layer, and instead of moving to the second ( like a lot of people do) scramble the cube again and work on the first layer for like 30 minutes, youll become wayy more fluent way faster, then do the same for the rest of the layers :
@@Z3Cubing Yay! Cuz I kinda hate the regrip version because it looks nooby (at least for me). The same goes for T and Y perms, although I saw that in your previous video you used this exact pro fingertrick.

Will order some magnet to mod my 35mm moyu keychain cube. Its as fast as the gan cube. I cant wait cause i love smaller cube so i can play in the office unnoticed by my boss.
I *think* the disc magnets I used were 3mm by 1.5mm, which seems to be the same size that TheCubicle are selling for that upgrade kit. If you're willing to wait for shipping though, you can usually find them really cheap on eBay.
