Wow. I need this book. It has been a long time since I've felt that I "NEED" a book. Thank you. Also.... I loved your intro and the modesty book position as you walked up the stairs. I immediately thought : "Okay. I like this woman." I was laughing before the video started. Thank you. I needed that this morning. And now I'm re-inspired about my passion for gouache. I knew my girlfriend's snobbery about it was unwarranted :) Thanks again. Subscribed.
Snobbery? About gouache or the book? And welcome! You know I have more time to film when I can sort of set the scene and come from more of a storytelling aspect or just try different things. Thanks for watching.
Thanks and good work for the review. I've seen this book before but didn't make the plunge. The thorough video was informative and got a like from me. :>
Super helpful review. This book just made it to my Amazon cart. I have been playing around with gouache recently, and was looking for something like this. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for this great book review ! I feel gouache is the plain Jane, that's often overlooked, in comparison to the popular watercolors 😂 Off topic, may I ask what microphone/camera you're using. Your voice sounds so crisp and clear ! Perhaps, it's just your voice 😄
Thanks glad you like it. See now I see watercolour as the plain Jane lol the camera I use is Sony A7cii and sometimes iPhone 12pro but the mic is the Rode VideoMicro Compact (when I remember to bring it and put it in) otherwise it is just the in built mics on the devices and a bit of tweaking in editing.
This looks brilliant. Just what I need to get away from the flatter aspect of painting with gouache. Have just added to my Amazon Wishlist for Christmas. Thank you
Yes, absolutely! I’d start with Creative Gouache by Ruth Wilshaw for very basics and to get going with techniques quickly. Any particular subjects you like to paint? as it will help with book recommendations.
Wow crazy! I thought it would be available worldwide. If you are willing to trust me with a bit of cash and your address email at studiospirit.uk@gmail.com and I will get the book for you and send it to you.
This is the book I’ve been waiting for. Thank you so much for the deep dive!
You're so welcome!

Definitely putting this in my Amazon wish list. I'll have to see how it adapts to the gouache I use, as it acts slightly differently from standard.
Ohhhh what kind of Gouache do you use?

You spoke about beginner and more illustrative style books…can I ask for your recommendations?
