    The point made at 11:04 is really interesting because in our case, the UA-cam channel we have right now was first under the name of our founder Abhishek Behera, he had a couple hundred views and some subscribers and decided to turn it into the official artist channel and that's how we became Freakuensea. Although to be fair, Abhishek Behera never treated his UA-cam as a personal channel, he used to upload performance videos and some guitar lessons on it. Those uploads are still there on our channel!

    Hey, guys! (I accidentally posted this comment on another one of your videos so I copied and pasted just incase lol) I just discovered you channel while doing research on putting my music/demo together. I love how acerbic and well-covered you are through all of your conversations/informats. I'm doin research (based on my country; Australia) on how to approach where I'm at with creating a demo/ draft recording. I've been working on almost a dozen songs in a realised genre of pop rock with referenced artists such as Paloma Faith, Imagine Dragons and Sabrina Carpenter (but with my own country-eque - accent- and emphasise with a bass feel to go with the bass voice)... I'me pretty certain on the idea in mind but I'm not a musician... I've tried and it's a fail especially to what I'm trying to put together... All my songs have a melody and most a bass or instrumental intent... So that being said, do you think it would be smarter to somehow hire/collaborate with a few musicians/producer to have them try and customise my ideas? or would that be a complicated approach for trying to put together original music for an unknown/unmarketed Artist? Anyway I know this is a lot to ask but hope to hear from you. Hope you're well :D - Josh F

  • @etherealbonds

    In the end the most important thing is the quality and uniqueness of your music. A great 'brand' and a great 'image' won't get you anywhere when your music fails to impress anyone in the first place. You will never be a great musician by doing what anyone else does and producing poor quality tracks. It's the hardest part for sure, most say it took them between 5 and 10 years (or around 10.000 hours of work) to finally find their style and produce it on a professional level. Also on Spotify you won't make good money at all, sell one album via Bandcamp and you made more money than if you had like a million Spotify streams. Sell your music via Bandcamp and stop supporting Spotify. Spotify ruins artists.

    • @Dante_Seth
      @Dante_Seth 3 роки тому

      Spotify pays you about 1000 to 2000 dollars per 1m streams, u mean to tell me selling my album on Bandcamp (which I've never heard of) will make me more money than that?

    As always a solid vid. Do you have any advice for someone who is starting a new band as frontman after being in several bands in a support role?

    • @Burstimo
      @Burstimo  5 років тому +1

      Remember to continue to give to your audience. When you have a live show, they've come to see you but keep the mindset that the fans need to leave with more than they came. Most the eyes are on you but it doesn't mean it's for you, your job doesn't end there, you can't be distant from your audience as an emerging band. It's your job to be the Head of Sales for the band and you do that by giving to your audience more than they ever expected from you. That may be simply speaking to people before/after the show, replying to all of the DM's on Instagram, doing cover requests because someone suggested it even though you don't really like doing covers. The frontman becomes the star because it is him who gives the most.

    • @Janaitisofficial
      @Janaitisofficial 5 років тому +1

      Great question, we are also looking for almost the same... it seems like no matrer how big or if your jist starting off, doing a new project almost makes all of us have to start from the bottom. It is ok, if you let your ego go and understand where you are and do everything you can to lift yourself up...that is how we feel, amd supporting other artists who also have the same goals and passions and drive is a good thing. You seem like you have a good understanding of where you want to go, and that is a big step forward already.

    Thanks for the video---there is something I've been curious about. Is there a strategy for working backwards from a short list of playlists (or one playlist) you want to get on that is Spotify curated? In other words, I want to get on Happy Beats but I know i have to start with user generated playlists. What's the most efficient way to find the most similar playlists to specific Spotify ones? Do you have to go artist/track by track and find them on other playlists? Would Chartmetric be useful? Thanks in advance.

    • @Burstimo
      @Burstimo  5 років тому

      We wouldn't suggest putting all your eggs in one basket like that and instead just focus on your overall growth and organic reach through the algorithm.
      Focus on getting on genre specific playlists that will push you out to more fans of your genre

    • @dperry913MusicTracks
      @dperry913MusicTracks 5 років тому

      That's the problem, though---what genre is Happy Beats? I'm asking what I think is a relevant question---the genre breakdowns aren't always clear. The end goal is to get Spotify to playlist you, so what that translates into is Spotify essentially defines the genres through their playlists.

    • @dperry913MusicTracks
      @dperry913MusicTracks 5 років тому

      Furthermore---I don't think the issue is about genre, genre is based on the curation process. Every curator, every playlist owner/runner simply decides what the genre is for THAT playlist. This is why this is such a problem/obstacle. I don't agree that this particular issue is about pre-defined genres, I think it's strictly about every individual playlist and whatever the rules are that govern how that playlist operates.

    • @dperry913MusicTracks
      @dperry913MusicTracks 5 років тому

      This was not such a big problem in the traditional radio era for the simple reason that there were NOWHERE near as many radio stations as there are playlists on the streaming platforms. The result was every radio station had to be flexible or they would run out of material to broadcast. That's not true anymore. How many tens of millions of playlists are there on the platforms now? How can anyone realistically sort through that? It's a waste of time to randomly submit to playlists because it's not always easy to do. There must be a way to make the whole process more efficient, but I really don't think there is one. As I said in the other post--there is no "genre" anymore, there is just a mass of playlist owners and every one of them will make some kind of fully subjective judgment on whether they want your music or not, which is incredibly unpredictable and it's something Spotify has to work on refining. In other words, the system is still very crude and chaotic. Think of how many people waste money on e.g. Submithub to randomly hit playlist runners who will listen to ten seconds of their track at best and then reject it based on essentially random reasons.
