Really enjoyed these tips. Even felt a lil attacked at a couple of the call outs like thinking I'm ruining the "mysterious artist" vibe by responding to people hahaha. Thank you both for this
You're really a life saver when it comes to releasing music, really. Your words make so much sense and are helping so much, thank you very much for this!
This page is an absolute gold mine to aspiring musicians/artists like myself. It’s very inspiring and genuinely interesting to listen to you both talk about your knowledge and experience in this area! Definitely going to be implementing some of these ideas with my band The Hiraeth when we release our debut EP this summer. Thank you for all the advice!!
Thank you kindly for this. I am super empowered from this. Also thank you to everyone in the comments for your insight. Much love to all the songwriters like myself out there ❤
So helpful - on making content you make it actually sound achievable! We tried cutting up our video for Time for Change and it didn't really work. I'm going to try making my own clips instead - it will be cheaper too! 😂 Thank you for the great advice 😎
These guys deleted a comment I made discussing how they turned me down and put me on an email chain with hundreds of other artists lol. The main gist of the comment was me telling everyone how I was accepted to AWAL and then invited to The Orchard shortly after. I have also racked up millions of streams across all platforms, charted on every platform(aside from billboard), I also landed an editorial placement and I have a song dropping March 29th through Columbia Records. I say this not to brag but to encourage all of you. Just because someone says no and makes a mockery out of you by putting you in an email chain with everyone they disregarded, does not mean you’re not worthy. Keep pushing and eventually those doors will open!!
The male individual here looks like Kratos from God of War. And also looks like a viking at the same time - lol im just bluffing😂 but i love the content very informative
While TikTok can be quite ungrateful, in general: You can run much paid for campaigns for your video posts, have unique content created - where lots of time was invested -, bring up good quality in sound/audio and visuals, be an artist recognized since many years in your country, deliver 10 press attachments about yourself and them won't even award you a verified badge.
Thanks for sharing these valuable tips! I was wondering what would be advisable to do for someone like me that’s just about to release their first song. I really want the audience I’ll be reaching via promotion to enjoy more songs by me in order to keep them hooked and hopefully become fans. Would it make any sense for me to release multiple songs in a month or altogether at the same time???
I rather go direct to consumer instead of spotify but I can see it being a good thing if you guys are the one helping via that link you posted here. I just refuse to work with shady companies.
spotify is a hard one to grow. I spent months collecting contact info for as many playlists as I could within my genre and they all asked for payment to get on their playlists which as we know isn't allowed so I'm currently stuck at under a hundred streams and I can't find a way to grow now that the playlist scene is corupt as I'm not paying for placements and risking being banned or worse.
OK my numbers are mini mini, but some of the best resonance for me comes from Mexico! :) Some also on mailing list and adding to small personal playlists....
Do artists appreciate music curators taking their videos (or audio) and uploading to their own platform? Researching for myself as a new music curator.
Personally I don't like paid ads. I spent years creating organic traffic only to have a famous British Band 'Swing out Sister' to pay to overtake me in the search engines. I know a family of a famous dead singer who have a website to honour her. The merch supports their family. Yet this family have the same problem as me. People pay to overtake them in the search engines. This has declined their sales. I find this is so immoral. Not everyone has money. Some people have to work really hard to build a fan base. My small business was destroyed because of paid adverts. But I refuse to give up. My daughter is so clever musically and artistically that I will try and promote her organically again.
i absolutely get your point and i also declined to do payed adds for quite a long time. but the harsh truth is, if you're taking music seriously, it is a business. businesses run ads to get known. it's not immoral, it's the harsh side of doing business. the best product doesn't help you if nobody knows your product exists, which simply means: run ads so people can find your music.
Create something controversial nothing to do with your music to spark interest then plug your music... Sounds ridiculous... not being cruel that's how it is now your right... I don't have a lot of followers I just post a song or video that's it on my UA-cam ha I have no money no label etc I guess that's the beauty of a record deal... A lot of down sides but if their reputable they will do a lot of the promotion so computer illiterate social media useless beings like me can just make music! I'm getting old and jaded excuse me...
Seems like good advice for the most part, but I think its insane how all of these try to make people think its easy and reproduceable to make a viral video

Where are these UA-cam music video pages? Do you have examples?

yeah but if you milk it 2 much you risk becoming a one hit wonder.
Sounds like astrology to me.
Just transform into a transwoman and you get thousands of views overnight on your crappy song
