Man things these days are crazy. people make music for 10 minutes and they expect to blow up. this is a great channel by the way. i think its time to put my music on spotify, idk it's been like 15 years since i started, yes defiantly time! Thank you.
@@thedevilsadvocate5210 I view spotify as more of a marketing tool. The streams are cheap but it gets you noticed and that's what us new artist need most. If you're good the fans and money will come.
@@itzdm0r3 You song reminded me of OMD or Gary Numan. They shouldn't be able to steal your music. If they paid you a penny a spin it would be a joke but that's like 1000X what they are paying now.
i started music 4 years ago with no help all i had were my phone, earphones and vision i started developing my style dropping projects every year from 2016 to 2020 over the 4 years i learnt a lot and upgraded a lot, after the phone and earphones my family brought me a karaoke mic then i bought another mic which was a low quality mic `finally i bought a decent mic this year over my journey i gained a bit of a fan base but recently i havent been gaining more, thanks for the advice
Honestly, I came here to figure out how to keep them engaged and I think I post way too often. I had been making music before but not MAKING it, such as recording it and releasing it on platforms (I started 3 months ago) so I post once a week, I have songs stacked up and still, everyone gets bored. My music does have the same taste and the lyrics mean so much to me and i try to make it so my fans can relate too. I have my music on Spotify and I tell everyone who watches my story on Instagram to go listen but I have 10 monthly listeners haha. But, I am dedicated and I will take all of your tips! thank you for this video!
thanks so much for the advice! I've been making music for years now but recently i've been trying to build a community around it. this has really helped!
This is so true. The beginning is always difficult. I grew an instagram account to 400 followers in 1 month then it went on to grow to 100k in 6 months. Because those first active followers helped boast the account to reach more followers and the cycle continued.
You know it! The first few hundred is sometimes harder than getting into the thousands because you're trying to find your theme, you're experimenting with things and no real relationships have been formed. After those first few months and you've put the work in, you get the results and you're proof of that!
I am a person searching for fans when all I have is listeners, this video is helpful. I have my music out but I'm still waiting and doing something for recognition
"Have you ever fallen in love with an artist, found one track that you love, and then gone on to their Spotify, gone on to their Soundcloud, and found that they haven't released a song in like SiX mOnThS?! It's annoying" Ok now I feel like an alien trapped in human's skin. Is this how the majority of people think? If I loved one song, and they already have older tracks there, I'll just listen to the older tracks. "New to me" = new Thanks for the tips, but I was surprised.
I agree with you on that one, fellow alien. When I discover an artist I like, they could have released stuff in 2011 and it would all be super new to me. On that note, I get super overwhelmed when I go to an artist's Spotify page and I have to click in and out of their bazillion singles to hear their music. Would much rather have everything in one place like an album or playlist. I think releases have to be in moderation, but maybe that's me being old school.

I've been pushing my music (mostly rock but with elements from electronic, R&B and hip hop) using advice like this. Not where I want to be with listeners yet but finally headed in the right direction with real growth. The global outlook of the pandemic has helped - turns out Latin America is a real rock region compared to my hometown and I have had more luck picking up new listeners down there.

Well...i Think my personality and my music/Lyrics fits the most with documenting/Storytelling...would be interesting if you do separate Videos on eatch 3 Themes?!
im gonna counter the point you made at about 3:40 massive artists like eminem and nf (my 2 best examples) give their fans no warning of the timing of their album/song/ep etc. yet they have the most dedicated fan bases in the hip-hop world. what attracts the fans is their unique unpredictability and the anticipation they build up. yes, to a new fan it might seem like they don't put in dedication but if you like the music the artist puts out and start rushing through the songs, you start to understand why these artists are so popular. I find whenever artists are consistently plugging their songs, it comes off as pleading, and that is not a good trait. when no warning is given out, it gives excitement and isn't a chore to go search up to a casual listener
