I own a z800 and i see so many comments from people who look at the weight on paper and decide its too heavy, your right it is a heavy bike but it is extremely rigid and planted, and when riding the weight is not an issue, it is extremely nimble and the mid range power is excellent. The cbr really doesn't feel special whatsoever they are extremely bland and really seem as if they are built purely as capable commuters but thats it, the z800 although not perfect feels as if it was built to be a genuinely good bike not something to fill hondas quota for a sporty commuter.

Jean-luc Cavill I am slightly concerned about the ride height. i was comfortable on the cbr650. is the z800's riding position higher? the video does say that th position is higher in the Z. but will that be an issue to short riders like me?

    • @jean-luccavill3824
      @jean-luccavill3824 7 років тому

Sooraj Msr the z800 is high but im 5'7 and im pretty comfortable, the footpeg position is further forward than a cbr and so means for maneuvering the seat height isn't as much of a problem

  • @arunkottolli
    @arunkottolli 8 років тому +18

Z800 works only if you are taller than 5'10". I am 5'7" and found Z800 to be bit tall and heavy on my tip-toes.
Considering that people who buy these bikes would be riding it on a long distance, stopping on uneven surfaces and may get tired at the end of the day, it is VERY important to have full control of the bike. The high seat position of Z800 did not give me that confidence. (considering the fact that I have Enfield 500 - which is also a heavy bike and I do quite a bit of touring)
The extra power of Z800 hardly make a difference in real life. (except when you are street racing). Z800 also suffers from lack of wind protection. Especially on day long rides or multi-day rides, the wind blast can take a big toll on the body. For such long rides Versys 650 would be better bike - but Honda CBR650F was a better package than versys 650.
So, in the end, I bought Honda CBR650F.
If you are 6' tall, and want to use the bike for short trips in-around the city, then Z800 is the bike in this class!

Arun Kottolli CBR650F is not suitable for long distances (I mean linger than 200-300kms trips) coz it vibrates like hell at touring speeds and seating position is not suitable...

Why are we Indians treated with such disdain by the automobile manufacturers ? I mean look at the CBR 600 made for the European market and compare that with the one launched for India. Why is the design and build quality of the motorcycle so terrible for the Indian market ?
Do we pay a premium to get duped ?
I'm glad the reviewer pointed out how dated the CBR 600's design is. It's high time the reviewers in general call the manufacturers' bluff now.
    We deserve the best.

      @SS-hw1ou 5 років тому +1

Road quality should also be European which is not present in many parts of India due to terrain or climate hence the discrimination plus price and mileage is what most customer see so the manufacturers see that part basically we fund their r&d for better machines in Europe and abroad

    • @sathishrao7926
      @sathishrao7926 5 років тому +1

Mohamed Shihab : The reason is obvious - Isn’t it ? India is a market for sub 250 CC Motorcycles and not Premium bikes..
With such a low volume of sales of Premium bikes, manufacturers can’t afford to localize the manufacture of the premium bikes in India. This results in most of the parts (or the entire unit) having to be imported which shoots up the price like hell !
It’s actually a chicken-egg issue.. Unless the prices are brought down (through localization), people aren’t going to buy Premium bikes... at the same time, unless people are going to buy premium bikes, manufacturers don’t dare to make a huge investment for localization !!

      8600€ cbr650f with ABS (22 hp less)
Definetly, this is not an equally comparision
      Kawa 800 competitors are:

first is the difference in engine capacity.
and the next, is the type. the prior is a sport bike full fairing, with of course will always be installed with those handlebar. the later is a naked bike. in which is usually installed with wide-straight handle bar.
difference in the sound, horse power, acceleration, etc of course will be seen greatly. those are two entirely different bike. its not an apple to apple comparison, but more like an apple to watermelon one.
people dont usually match and compare one bike to another from their price range. usually they compare with the same type, and more or less the same engine capacity

Handling of Z800 is far more better than 650f even though it is bit heavy.I have tested both. Z800 gives you confidence upright when you start the engine.Buttersmooth engine of Z800 adds more value. The bike stops on spot whenever the brakes are pressed.I am not biased here but shape of 650f looks old atleast if you ask me it doesn't impress.Anytime Z800 plus i dont see any logic in comparing 650 f with z800 .In other videos Street Triple is compared with Z800 just to show that these can compete with z800.However why not er6n is compared with 650 f and street triple.Dont show and change the perception of people that 650f and stree triple are better than z800.

Hi, I recently bought a Z800 and I want to share my experience.First
all of to introduce my self, my name is Konstantinos, I'm 32 years old,
Greek and I'm leaving in Cyprus. From 2008 Since March of 2016 I had a
Suzuki V-Strom DL650 2007 model and made 72.000 kilometers with it. So
I decided to complete change style. From January I started my research
on many brands and models, narrowing my choices to MT07, CB650F, GSR750
and Z800. From close I saw only the MT07 and the CB650F. The problem in
Cyprus is that you have to imagine the bike you want to buy because the
dealers don't have stock and if you want a bike is with order only and
deposit. Also if you found a bike they don't do test drives. So I relied
basically on web reviews and UA-cam.The MT07 felt on me
very light and small comparing to the huge V-Strom. The CB650F had very
poor quality materials. The GRS750 was about the same price with Z800
and it was nowhere near on what Z800 was offering. So after
all the reviews I read and watched and the specs I decided that the Z800
was the most complete and well build middle range naked bike. My only
concern was the weight as I was reading that it is a heavy bike. Anyway I
finalized my decision and ordered it with closed eyes. Now
time for my review. And what a bike... First to clear about the weight.
NO problem at all. Actually is way lighter from what I had used to with
the V-Strom. It has exactly the perfect weight I like to fill at the
stop, at the road, at the mountains. The handling is amazing. I never
felt the same confidence on a turn before. It fills like is on rails.
The stopping power is excellent and the rear break is exactly what is
needed to control the bike on breaking. The engine has a great amount of
power. You can even go really slow with 6th gear on country side and
speed up without down shifting. The stock exhaust is a sweet melody. The
build quality fills that you get much more than you paid. I'm very
pleased with my Z800 and I'm glad that I didn't choose any other bike. I
definitely recommend this bike to everyone that wants a middle range
naked. Just I would recommend to put the Kawasaki engine guards on as
the engine is a little big and in case of drop would be damaged.Conclusion... Well done Kawasaki.

They can mske the comparison because they're in the same price bracket. That's why I traded my cbr650f in for a Z800, the review is perfectly valid, based on price point. The Z is the superior bike in my experience and I commute 90k's daily, through twisted and motorway. the cbr has the edge on 2 up riding, corner entry, wind protection and fuel economy. The Z in corner stability, power exit and all round performance due to better hp, torque and gearing. The Z has higher seat height but more comfortable riding position. I've taken both bikes on extensive trips away and the cbr will give you back, wrist tension, numbness in hands but not on the Z. It's a no brainer for me and I've put a puig windscreen which has helped with the windblast, although the cbr still has the edge with it's full fairing, but the smooth power delivery and gear box, of the Z, is as good if not better than the triumph street triple

    the z800 is huge, weight-wise..
kawasaki used the z750 chassis for the most part - heavy, shite chassis (z1000 is lighter than the z800, it's that crappy)
the honda is more 'premium', way better for commuting.
here, the z800 is bought by kids who dig it's looks and sell it right after because they just don't enjoy riding it..
    they're totally different

I could afford these bikes with Emi and stuff, but I'm simply afraid to park them in public places, my friend had a used yamaha R1 and whenever he used to leave it on roads, even for short durations someone would always be fiddling with the switches, sitting on it taking pictures, some people even scratched the bike with their keys and stuff. I think its not only enough to afford these big bikes but the lifestyle should match it, for now this is only for city yuppies who frequent posh cafes and restaurants in urban India or for those who are willing to leave their bikes idle 6 days a week and only go for long rides on sundays.

I've got a cbr650f and they are absolutely amazing bikes, people will chat about the minor differences of the honda and kawi, my friend has the Z800 and it is more powerful but its not very noticeable, in a straigh they are both neck and neck for along time before the z800 starts to slowly pull ahead and in the corners they are both brilliant i love my hondas and the cbr just eats up any corner and feels exciting and stable at many different speeds and angles of leaning, the z800 is a bit worse in the corners only by a small amount though, comfort they are both great and can happily do a 200-300 mile trip on either of them no problem the kawasaki does seem to have to stop for fuel more often than the honda though, they both come with lots of features and many options to upgrade them with aftermarket parts, my cbr has a full Akrapovic race system exhaust and a sports kit to make it look more aggressive and its a monster of a bike and the same can be said for the z800 it really does come down to your preferences and what you like
In short they are two absolutely brilliant motorbikes one is a sports bike and one is a naked, ones slightly more powerful but has less fuel economy and is slightly worse in the corners whilst the other is a bit slower (actually has a higher top end straingly) corners a bit better and has better fuel economy
sorry for the long message that's what I've come to learn after being around both the bikes for over a year now :) and people who say they may get boring must have a problem because I've not stopped smiling since I've had the CBR and it's always an adrenaline rush especially in the corners :) hope this has helped

+HyperViper94 But, with dated technology used on cbr 650f ( switchgear, forks, suspension) it looks like Honda is exploiting the middle weight category in india. with 7.6 ex-showroom cbr650f doesn't justify the price tag except for the brilliant motor ( except 2up would be pain in the @55).

As far i've tested, Honda launches only outdated vehicles in Indian market as rivals. When India already had the legendary Yamaha R15, Honda came with an outdated edition called 150R, and now with 650F. Build quality is just worst when it comes to Honda bikes, whereas in Cars its the opposite.
Honda must try lot better to beat the legends like Kawasaki and Yamaha.

How can you compare a fully faired sport tourer with a streetfighter motorcycle?
The DESIGN and DETAILING are very different for a sport tourer.
If these aspects are not in your books then you should compare Honda cbr600rr and kawasaki z800.
I'm sorry to tell but you have mislead the buyers.

You should have compare CB650F to Z800, which are both naked bikes.
CBR650F is a super sport bike, you don't enjoy it unless you enjoy to ride the sports bike.
Not sure if CB650F is released in India ?

Front showa suspensions, led headlight and a 5+hp to make it at 90cv. I wish they had lower the weight like Kawasaki did on their new 650 (now at 192 kg instead of 211 kg) 2017-2018. And i had hope that they ditch this horrible cluster, just feels outdated. I prefer needle and compact clusters where just a simple look at the dash and ou can see everything in one place.
