@@nyashnader1 Well said friend, a commendable attitude. We can lessen risk but not entirely avoid it and so we accept it but we don't invite it. As a 59 yr old rider of more than 40 yrs, please allow me to advise you. Get it properly serviced at somewhere with a good rep every 10,000 or so and in the meantime, make a sound investment in a set of basic spanners and a workshop manual. That way at the very least you'll always have a correctly adjusted chain and properly inflated tyres and properly adjusted brakes, cables etc. These things will very much lessen the chances of falling off, it'll be much more pleasurable to ride and I really cannot overstate the difference things like correct tyre pressures makes to safety and handling. An advanced rider course is also a wise move, but most of all....................... Have fun my dude !

Bought a 2008 Bandit 1250 a few months ago. The thing has a huuuge chunk of torque, and at 100km/hr (60mph), you're doing 3200rpm. Peak torque is at 3700rpm. This bike only needs 6th gear once you're moving! No down changes for the overtake, just roll the throttle on and it pulls like a train. Love this bike.

Awesome video. Keep these ones coming. Every reviewer is reviewing new(ish) bikes. Tons of people just starting to ride who are older or larger or who aren't sure if riding is for them will appreciate the older, cheaper, larger bikes that have held up to the test of time. For example, I truly believe my 03 yamaha royal star venture that I picked up 6 months ago for $2500 is more comfortable than the likes of a newer goldwing or any other newer BIG touring machine. Also my other bike being an 06 vstrom 1000 with 105,000 on the odometer has never let me down even with non regular maintenance and I bought thay bike used for $3500

Been riding my 04 Z1k for 13 years now. It has a few little quirks like the transmission can be a bit clunky sometimes but styling wise it looks like a bike much newer than it is, its got a lot of power, and its very easy to work on. As a very happy FZ6 owner I agree with you. 48 Years of riding from a lot of road-trail, enduro, MX and street bikes I'm happy to ride pretty much anything. My smallest one was after a hiatus - a CBR125S which I rung the neck out of (Previous bike was a "warm" FJ1200) up to the 1340 Harley.
For nice handling, and being surprisingly quick for it's capacity the FZ6 convinced me that I didn't need to go larger engine size. I'm happy with it for commuting or Country jaunts. It really is a good all-rounder.

Put an automatic clutch in it. they make them for every bike their is except some harleys. idling just pop it in gear and turn the throttle, let off to shift. Use the hand clutch if you desire as it still works like normal. Like rev it up in gear. they can be adjusted to how quickly they engage. set too high they will freewheel slowing down that can bother you as under a certain rpm you can set the clutch is disengaged speeding up and slowing down. It'll take off in a higher gear just wears n the clutch more. they are used in dirt bikes most often.

The first year for fuel injection on the SV650 was 2003. However, 2003 was an odd year with a different seat and sub frame than the 2004 and up gen 2s.
Also I owned a 2009 FZ6 and it would hit the kickstand hard on left hand turns, so be very careful if you're taking one to the track or a tight twisty road.

I have the '05 as the '04 has carburetors, I waited for the '05 and bought mine new on on 12/31/2004. I didn't want the '04. at about 50,000 miles the linage wore out from one throttle body to the other, was on back order when mine was giving a cylinder out at idle. we put a spring over that link just like used on a lawnmower governor and that fixed the slop and it stays synched and runs smooth and powerful as new. I got the new links and haven't even thought about putting them on. It goes as fast as I want to go even though I'm fixing a bandit 1200, the weigh and the power is more than I want. riding position is too long armed for me.

I understand the love for the f4i but I've also rebuilt a transmission for an f5i with 61k miles on the clock and you could still see the mill marks on the gears and minimal bearing wear. They'll all live a long time if you treat them with care and respect. As long as the cops don't steal it lol
Recently stopped riding sport bikes bc the road conditions are too much of a variable to safely push myself and have fun and the track is crazy expensive. I now ride a dr650

    Really great choices of bikes.
I’ve got a Street Triple 675 2015 as my first bike after half season of renting SV650 2006(yep another bike from this list). And I was melted by those bike: the speed, power, handling and overall quality was far superior to anything what i know. I picked it up for 7gran in 2019 and was shocked that they so cheap overall. Reliability good too It has 25k km and i make 10k more and have only one small issue with dead battery.
So if you looking for really fun and agile naked try to find Street Triple 675 2013-2016 and especially the R model. They cost 5-7 gran nowadays.

i think the entire fzs lineup should be on instead of just the fzs6, my dad owns an fzs1 (the 998cc one) that he bought new in 2006 (which will be given to me once he gets something else or isn't able to ride anymore), he's still riding it daily and he has taken it and kneed it on the track in our town, never dropped it or damaged in any way, aftermarket mirrors and windscreen but other than that it's all stock. We've taken it on several road-trips together and we can both easily sit on it for 2-4 hours (not counting short stops for gas) at a time. very comfortable, its an r1 engine so we usually keep a steady 150km/h on the highway so trips are pretty short if need be. In greece you can get one for under 3k euros in perfect condition without many miles on it too so its a pretty cheap bike while also being good

For the ultimate Suzuki SV650, get the Suzuki V-Strom 650! (resistance is futile).
Detuned to last forever and make more torque at lower revs than the SV650 for everyday usability.
A more upright riding position to be comfortable as you age, but can still cut corners on you favourite set of twisties.
Weather protection from the fairing, luggage carrying capacity and a large fuel range so you can ride off into the sunset!

SV650 was carbureted from '99-'02. The carbed bikes were more lively. The EFI bikes seem to peter out right as they are getting interesting. Also - the frame on the first gen bikes is uber sexy.

The Ninja 300 is an awesome beginner bike and an awesome city commute bike to. If you manage to get a Z300, which is its naked version, even better. I have one and despite always wanting to sell it for a bigger bike like the Z900 I keep thinking how much it's gonna suck weaving through traffic and maneuvering in tight places with such a big bike. Which is why I decided to keep it, save and buy a ZX-6R in a couple years.

I've been riding since 1966 when I was 15. I have had many different bikes in many different configurations. I know you are from the 21st century but all of my bikes where carberated and I have had little problems with them as long as they didn't sit for months ( bike are made to ride not look at in your garage). If you keep up with your fuel filter and store your bike properly in the winter when you aren't riding them (drain your carbs) they are not troublesome. Just remember all the guys that rode from the early 1900's until fuel injection came out were not only happy with there bikes but were in love with there carberated rides with out the electronics of today.
    I enjoy your video's but from a different word of riding. Honda 65 Ducati 98 2 650 BSA's Honda 550 3 Honda CB750's 4 750 Shadows 2 Bulaco 250's 650 Suzuki 650 Savage ect From Taylor Tx

It's significantly more comfortable than those other two. There are still several to be found in the used market for a decent price.... if you're willing to drive a couple of hours to get it.
