There have been 62,000 recorded brake failures in automotive history and about 60,000 of those occurred in the LA area during the time CHiPs was filmed. 😂
I am from Pakistan and i still remember this show was telecasted on National TV in 1992 at that time i was 6yo and i used to sit with my Father and watch this show. Amazing to see it again.
Leaving a highschool football game there were these two motorcycle cops walking back to their bikes. I sang out the beginning of the CHiPs theme song but they didn't seem to appreciate as much as I did. I still get a smile on my face when I think about it 😂
It's been decades since I've seen an episode but I will always remember 7 Mary 3 and 4. I probably saw each episode 3 or 4 times as a kid. Great show. Such a different and wonderful time to grow up.
Being young, I didn't think that as long as the accelerator is not depressed the vehicle would eventually slow down. I still love these shows. Thanks for loading.
Finmally, after asking anywhere, I got this great scene of that big Monaco stoping that truck. I can see this again, since 1979. Then, when I was a kid, my Dad owns a 1975 Royal Monaco. Now, I own thiat same great car, and I feel proud of that great cars. I love Monacos. =D
Man love those 1980s' bands. Funniest ever I have been a mechanic for 25 years and those old cars had dangerously undersized brakes and couldn't stop themselves much less a 30,000 pound out of control truck hilarious. Love 80s' talent new generation kids will not leave their air conditioned room to look for a job or stop playing video games to learn an instrument. Great video!
Yep, i said same thing. The brakes back then were so bad that most "braking" tests basically consisted of locking the brakes up, and letting the tires do all the braking, because the brakes were that bad! Even worse was the tendency for rear brakes to lock before front because the bias was that horribly set (particularly in American cars) which almost guaranteed a spin. Yup "good old days" indeed lol But tbose cars still looked great!
Yes, the brakes on those 1978 cars were bad. But after a while 100% of American cars would be equipped with ABS brakes. And who would be the future highway patrollers? I answer now: many of them would be children and teenagers who learned to love CHIP's mission by watching episodes of that series.
The old guy driving the truck is Carey Loftin. He was a legendary stuntman from this era. Cary was the truck driver in Duel (1971). He also did the stunts for Vanishing Point (1971), The French Connection, and Bullitt.
No nudity No cursing No killing No violence And yet it was a hit. I'll take this show any day over the crap that's on tv today! Today's TV is consisted of 1)news 2) reality TV 3) talk shows
There was only 1 incident in which an officer even pulled his pistol and that was when Officer Barry Baricza was getting his butt kicked by Danny Partridge.
Those Dodge Polaras had beefed up brakes and did this on more than one occasion. The CHP chose them for many years due to the superiority of their brakes and power trains. Mopar all the way!
Everyone need to keep in mind that due to this being a law enforcement show, the directors and producers, wanted to give viewers an idea of the many types of situations the state police encounter.
Chips, knight rider, air wolf popular films of my childhood.Ptv telecast airwolf and knight rider on Wednesday night.I.cant forget memories associated with these tv films.
This scene was shot on southbound Sierra Hwy between Canyon Country and Newhall. This section of Sierra Hwy runs pretty much parallel to Hwy 14 which heads toward Palmdale going the other way. Amazing they kept running over the same section of the road as they did when they shot they shot the freeway scenes in other episodes along the nearly finished 210 Fwy in Pacoima near the Paxton St. offramp. I lived in that area then. Was a good show. Used to watch it to see how many streets we all recognized.
Amazing luck the front bumper of the truck was exactly the same height as the rear bumper of the police car. Still very exciting even after all the years.
Im remember this show running from friend's house to make it just in time miss the 80s starsky & HUTCH it was great believe it or not kids the internet was around but not commercially yet there were alot of latinos that spoke spanish today rarely you find one that will take a picture and sign it egos too big nowadays
Bear was a cool cat like Ponch and John!Im a ford guy but those Mopar cop cars would plain get it in that It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
I remembered this episode, watched it about 40 years ago, childhood memories
I remember watching it too as a kid. It was a great episode!

I loved this TV show. They showed it in the 90s, I was around 10 and it always gave me stories for my plying with matchbox and playmobils

Guess what ? I recently saw CHiPs for the first time after so many years, on Sling T.V!!! I’m so excited!!!
Only as an adult do I appreciate the work that went into producing this show, given all the moving parts (pun intended).
Oh man, I miss that show. Brings me way back.

DAMN! those older police cruisers had amazing braking power!
FordLTD’s in the 70’ were the best cars the US ever made nothing but American muscle
Believe it or not everytime i ride i hummed CHiPS soundtrack, everytime🤭🤭, this show is always been my favorite to this day
Love the dramatic whiplash shots. Never a dull moment on the roads of SoCal.
Exciting scene from a great show. I remember my parents watching this show because my father was a cop in 1979.
