I remember one day my husband told to me that it was his favorite show with Larry Wilcox as John Baker, Erik Estrada as Francis "Ponch" Poncherello and Robert Pine as Sgt. Joseph Getraer. Mar 13, 2020 @ 9:41 am.
0:57 - That looks like the school bus John rescued in S02E14. 2:02 - Good thing the groundskeepers of the 1984 Olympics venue put down those panels to protect the field, in preparation for the chase!
@Saint James: FYI they were not real people. They were characters. Meaning Mr. Estrada's character was Ponch and that of Larry Wilcox was John Baker. Mar 13, 2020 @ 9:15 am
Eric Estrada is an awesome individual! Met him at lunch one day a couple of years ago and he was so happy that people still recognize him. Posed for a pic with my mom and I and he was just genuinely a sweet guy.
Absolutely. I was just a kid back then, but Ponch treated me like an equal and he also took me and all my brothers and sisters as well as my mom to Disneyland! What a guy ol Ponch
Hey, ick war eine Jugendliche und habe diese Serie geliebt. Heute vermisse ick sie. Alles wird gezeigt, aber diese Serie über haupt nicht. Sehr schade 😭
I love how he’s clearly being pulled on a trailer Zero lean on the first acceleration and around 53 seconds the tire of the towing vehicle sprays water in being face. I’ll continue to ignore all that and enjoy the classic. Used to watch this and saved by the bell before school lol
Might be fun if they do a remake with Tricia Helfer or Katee Sackhoff as Baker and Marie Avgeropoulos as Poncherello, They'll be able to do much of their own riding and with the modern cameras, you'd be able to show it.
Somehow they are able to keep their bikes completely perpendicular to the ground. Interesting technique. Might have caught them if they leaned into it!
To corner as tight as possible during a slow speed turn you position your upper body outside the turn to counterbalance the bike as it’s tipped into the turn.
Oh Islam, it is childhood memories. It is the series that I have always followed in childhood.. memories that will never be forgotten with this series.... Are these actors alive or are they gone.. Greetings from the Sultanate of Oman
It's bad enough when they have the motorcycle on a trailer when they are traveling straight done the road. When they go around corners though its completely ridiculous. The rider is sitting straight upright and bike doesn't lean over a single inch, yet somehow the bike turns the corner. Makes me laugh every time.
When I was a kid watching this on network TV I thought why don't they put a spring system on the trailers so they don't turn corners straight up? Looks odd to me ;
Chips was my favorite night time drama when I was a kid! Didn't get any better than this.
Me to after this incredible hulk
One of 3 of my FAVORITE SHOWS ….EVER !!
Black Sheep Squadron, CHiPs and the A-Team series! It don’t get any better than this!
Love checking out the cars in old shows from back in the day
Me too. I even like that duallie truck that the motorcycle guy hides in!
The best show for cool classic cars in the background ~Adam-12
I love that in the closer face shots, they suddenly stop leaning for turns... almost as if they're being pulled on a trailer.
no way!!!
That’s impossible.
must be a trailer right ?
Nah, it's the conversion form tube TV to the internet, they're clearly doing their own riding/stunts. 😁
they were pulled on a trailer for the close shots
This show had some of the best chase music tracks
Chips and Evel Knievel are the reason why I started riding motorcycles
Same to me!!! 🏍️

The best now is looking at all of the old classic cars in the background, Lots of good stuff.
All the ones they destroyed were California cars with no rust too! So freakin sad!

Every chase scene needs a 30sec saxophone solo.

This is where the "Super Moto" was born.
Loved that show back in the day. Riding big bikes in the day, chasing hot La gals in the evenings. What a life.m
Brings back memories C.H.I.P.S 👍😁
The hiding the bike in the truck tricks a classic
They borrowed that from the 50's series "Highway Patrol".
Who else is watching CHiPs in 2025?
🙋
Dermot501 . . . Just as I was as a 6 year old in 1979 😍
All those years of service and never one shot fired
3:56 First time I see my old Datsun 180B in a movie. I had the same colour and livery but in 4 door.
old is gold brh
I felt so safe in the 80s knowing that Ponch and John were on the street.... They were real; and don't tell me otherwise!!!

I never really realized how good the music was in this show. What stadium is that?
UA-cam is a time machine
Wow..the LA coliseum was in rough shape prior to the 84 Olympics
The last runner of the 2028 Olympic torch definitely wants Chips to do it.

Poor Sarge , he leans wrong way in turns like he's on a trailer with cameras .
SLAM BOY Oh yeah he must be on trailer lol
I was about to say the same. First chip bike on a drag trailer for the close up shots.
Yep lotta fake riding. Stuntmen do most of it

What happened to him?
@@rcmodder While filming, while turning down an alley, his bike threw him. I'm guessing he hit a pothole or bump the production crew didn't notice.
Somehow they are able to keep their bikes completely perpendicular to the ground. Interesting technique. Might have caught them if they leaned into it!
The nostalgia is killing me.
They turn and lean the wrong direction...😁 and no i didnt notice that as a child in the 70s
Damn! LA Memorial Coliseum before the ‘84 Olympics!
Haha.. never realised that they dont lean around corners on the front views.. bloody funny watching it now
白バイ野郎~ジョン&パンチョレロレロに秀樹感激Goodです=3
Tempo que eu era criança, pena, que não tem coisas boas assim mais
0:38 You can clearly see that he's struggling to lean that bike, it must be attached to something XD
Lol, he’s literally leaning out of the counters.
Officer Baker (Larry Wilcox) did know how to ride. The only one in those early years.

Awesome music, nee to play more often in chase scenes.

What happened to Erick Estrada's character of Frank "Ponch" Poncherello on CHiPs in this episode?
Mar 12, 2020 @ 9:25 pm.
SOCORRO SILVA Hospital he was seriously injured
This was the season that Erik Estrada had a near fatal motorcycle crash.
They don't lean into some turns and it seems like they're on a trailer.
They were pulled around on a trailer and filmed, yes.
