He just completely nailed that guy with a vicious elbow to the face and snapped his neck and nobody even noticed it? Man the 80’s were amazing!!
Another few amazing coincidences is that they got seats in the back corner and the pilots completed that flight without noticing someone got into chassis compartment and depressurized the plane.
Everyone was completely coked up.
It was amazing @@quattordicimontenapoleone3113
Everyone is dead tired...😂😂😂
The 80s were awesome.
One of the most realistic scenes in film history.
To be honest this happens quite often. I'm scared to death of flying and have done this exact thing several times just to get off the plane
@@SultanKhan66 wow, I’m glad I’m not the only one!
😂😂😂 you must have watched Tom and Jerry in the past,if this is the most realistic scene in fil history then Pacino, de niro, they all gonna hide ,Arnie is just a daft actor his unquiet selling point are his muscles,,
That's true of pretty much every Arnold Schwarzenegger scene. You know actually removed all his skin, and replaced it with a metal endoskeleton for the final scenes of The Terminator?! Now THAT'S a dedicated actor.
The way he flails his hands when Arnie broke his neck made it a lot more realistic.
Gotta love 80s movies, they make jumping from a plane look so safe
it is you should try it sometime 😄
I jumped like that too, it's okay, I'm dead.
Well, Arnold was a Golem back then. Who should be worried instead is the planet surface.
Yep, they had to redo the shot eleven times .
Nearly ran out of gas !
Miss the 80's.
Arnold: Don’t disturb my friend he’s dead tired.
(Eleven hours later)
Stewardess: Oooooohhhhhh now I get it! (starts laughing hysterically)
I love how he started "preparing his casket" with a blanket and a pillow. 😂🤣🤣
And holiday hat😂
His friend was dead-tired.
Arnie was so nice to his victim. He even let him have a window seat.
I can't believe how many times I've imagined doing that to the person sitting next to me every time that I fly 😂
how about the person in front of you when they put their seat back...
You bad buddy😂😂😂

Gotta love how the stewardess just let Arnie do whatever during takeoff simply because he was “air sick”.
pre-911, anything was possible....
Try that today and they'll stop the plane and hand you over to the police.
@@guitarslim56thanks for nothing, Arnold
He said "I will be barf"
This was 1985, no problemo. 😅
I was born in Russia and when placed at detski dom this was the first American film we watched. Unforgettable and still one of my favorites. Arnold still going strong after all these years!
I think that movie was intended to be ridiculous. The opening scene of him carrying a log, flexing his bicep was hilarious. When my son and I would work around the house together, sometimes he'd grab a broom and mimic Arnold. Cracked me up every time.
I was just thinking of that scene the other day. My neighbour had a tree cut down, and I wanted the logs. They were cut into about 2' lengths and probably 18"-2' across... so pretty big... but no way I could lift them.
Ripping out and throwing a phone booth too
Ahhhnalond is the one BS hero who can make it hilarious. Just watched John Wick 4. What a load of nonsense. Ahnold would make it viewable.
@@cambonious23 What was cool was they made it obvious. 30 guys shooting at him with semi-auto weapons, not hitting him once, then he turns around while running, does one spray, and they all drop.
I just watched John Wick 4. Now, that stuff is garbage. They try to make it "real". C'mon, man....
I had some smaller logs so I did that when I was 19 or so... I have never been ripper or anything but I was rather strong and it was a small log@@Raven.flight

1:20 You've got to appreciate that macabre two-armed stadium wave the bad guy does when Arnold breaks his neck.
He's airsick but the plane hasn't even taken off yet 😂
"...Dead tired "
He probably means the smell of the inside of the plane, after all I sometimes feel sick from the smell of the inside of a car
he wasnt sick but meant it as a plausible excuse in order to carry out his plan.
😂😂😂😂😂
motion sickness would've been more convincing.
Arnold was on top of his game in this movie.
Since 1982 to 1987 it's golden era

“Don’t disturb my friend. He’s dead-tired.” Lmao Arnold’s savage!
The ubiquitous 80s action movie soundtrack with steel drums. Just doesn't get more 80s than that.
We can probably blame Jaco Pastorius for the prevalence of steel drums on records unrelated to the Caribbean in the 1980s

😊
That would have been the first rule, in keeping watch.
There should of been more henchmen on the plane as well instead of the one guard
That proved to be Henriques’ *fatal* mistake. He really didn’t know John Matrix at all.
In loving memory of my brother who took his own life on Aug 9th 2024 we watched this clip over n over as kids & laughed together..RIP Bro never forgotten.
That neck snap gets me every time.
The mechanical efficiency of the elbow-to-face-then-break-the-neck was impressive.
Lots of people complain about how the fall would never work, but honestly, it's probably one of the most realistic plane jumps without a parachute in an action movie I've ever seen. He jumps BEFORE he is airborne on a high altitude, it was literally just off the platform, that's a few dozen feet max. So his body wouldn't actually have enough time to accelerate all the way, he is not falling that fast and not falling that hard. Number two - the guy is an experienced commando built like a WWII tank. If anybody knows how to behave in a fall like this to minimize the damage done to your body, and flex off the rest it would be him. And thirdly, his fall is softened by both water AND foliage. That's hyper-realistic. There are many recordings of totally random people surviving jumps on dense foliage, snow or water all throughout modern history - some of them, without a scratch too. His fall gets absorbed by a combination of two, making it far easier to believe.
What I'm trying to say is - guys, if you wanna complain about no parachute jumps, please pick some of the guys who just jumped and rolled from a few miles in the air. There's plenty of them around in movies. Not this guy. This was done properly.
Exactly he jumped maybe from 100 feet into the air and into foliage and water. Both cushioned his fall.
Only he and Keanu Reeves can do that.
I was an experienced commando and also built like a tank. And I also know anyone would be crippled at a minimum and probably dead in this fall. Keep believing though, lol.
@@bigd7696 I just laugh and laugh when I see idiots in here saying "it's a very realistic jump you could survive" 😂
Except he wouldn't fall straight down. If you jump out of an aircraft goind at 150 mph on takeoff you will be going forward at that speed whilst falling, so you hit the ground at the vector sum of 100+ mph and whatever gravity accelerated you too. The movie completely ignores fundamental physics by showing him fall almost straight down.
1:25 - the flight attendant speech saying “… and we’re here to make your AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE 🥰” and while this speech a neck is being broken 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bladder and bowels be ING voided too.
When that plane landed and that attendant saw the dead body, she screamed so loud, that it was heard on the ground.
This movie was ahead of its time.
This was my most favorite scene in movie history until the Terminator 2 bar scene.

Exactly. It's not meant to be taken seriously. Pure escapism.

Truly a cinematic masterpiece
Arnold has always been a great actor
The greatest to do action movies
the greatest actor in the world
He had an Act-Man, like a Stuntman but for acting.

exactly. i don't think he gets a lot of credit. he can do comedy and drama. it's just that he has to work with the right people who can understand his limitations but also spread it out more little by little. that's why i laud james cameron and the late, great ivan reitman for doing that for arnold. they were able to be patient with him and let him grow as an actor.

Schwarzenegger's character doesn't close the doors behind him in the plane, thus will create cabine pressure when the plane reaches a certain altitude
Who cares? When Arnold has a mission there will be collateral damage anyway
That leap from the landing gear of the plane into the swamp would have broken every bone in a person’s body, except for Arnold.

It's standard army training to escape from an aircraft before it hits the ground and explodes.....
Only Arnold can get airsick before the plane has even took off 🤣
Props to the music when Arnold is navigating the cargo hold. Usually the steel drum is used to establish a fun, laid back tropical atmosphere. Here it really makes his escape feel tense and dangerous. Whoever was in charge of the music did a great job.
It took the plane like 30minutes to take off then Arnold jumps from like 300ft from a plane going about 200 miles an hour. Only Arnold can survive 😂

That's how I see it with the sound too.
This man is the real definition of a Legend. October 2023, still watching you sir
His time management skills are unparalleled.
Ironically, I was always super impressed with the rear projection effect with Arnold holding on as the plane takes off. For the budget they had, they did a really good job with it. Color and lighting look outstanding for what they were working with.
Not a rear projection. This was filmed with a mockup landing gear on a camera truck.
Love how no one around them notices the noise of him knocking the dude out and then the breaking of his neck, lol.
Annie just walks down the isle and seconds later he is hanging on the landing gear, not having an issue with the 170mph wind in his eyes then falls 200 feet into a very handy swamp and just walks off. Amazing too that he can depressurise the plane by opening a pressure door that strangely has no means of making the captain aware if it isn't shut properly.
Well, He break in cargo and ended in front tires was more absurd.

I love when they arrive, the police just take the body off the plane with the other passengers. No one freaks out that a person died during the flight. Plus, his neck was broken! Necks don't just break themselves. Any potential suspects have disbanded. I love this movie!
llloooollll your facts are spot on
yeah they were acting like it was normal for a man to be dead on a stretcher leaving a plane. and the flight attendent didn't notice arnold went to the bathroom and never came out for 11 hours? they could have came up with a better escape scenario than this, maybe find a parachute
@@aldfjak yeah that part was totally unrealistic. Not only that he tore apart the protective padding separating the mechanical area of the plane from the cargo. He also left open the door to the landing gear which would have caused temperatures to drop considerably in the cargo hold I imagine. After 11 hours anything that was alive in the cargo area of the plane would be dead. Dog killer!!

So stupid that they had the macho rivalry thing going between them the world was robbed of best action movies ever.

That drop was so convincingly real. Wow!

God i miss the 80s.
For being ex-military himself, Henriquez was pretty laxed while guarding a well regarded marine commando. Lets him have the outside seat, doesn't pay attention when Matrix asks for a blanket & pillow immediately after boarding, and the worst offense is Henriquez sticking his chin out, giving Matrix the perfect angle to elbow him into unconsciousness. 🙂
I read somewhere that Commando 2 was planned, but Arnold had become a huge star and rejected the idea. The script was rewritten and Diehard was the result.
" I'm air sick. " Planes still on the ground.
I first saw this movie when I was 20 years old back in 1985 ❤❤
I think the funniest part of this scene is not only does he survive impact immediately before landing gear retraction without so much as dirt on his suit jacket, but he then has fineite motor dexiterity to set a countdown timer on his watch and runs across and an active runway during broad daylight without so much as a single poilice officer show up. Lol
I remember seeing this in high school and laughing out loud when he jumped from the nose gear. We knew it was bullshit but there was something so fun about Arnold’s films back them.
i would take points off for the unrealistic survival of jumping from a plane but i have to add more points for the coolness of the whole scene 🥰
At least it was less unrealistic than the woman flying the plane scene.
A normal man would have been killed of course, but this is John Matrix, super soldier, as played by Arnold S.
That scene is so realistic i like that
I like how the gear is up when he is falling from the plane, then back down again.
any carry on luggage?.... just him 🤣

I was a child when I saw this film for the first time and I was fascinated by it, above all there are some scenes that remained in my memory, for example this is one. Thanks Hollywood!
You've got to love that convenient door to the landing gear and of course the Everglades 🤣🤣
This soundtrack was used in quite a few 80s movies. Red Heat was another.
I watched this movie originally and couldn’t stop laughing. Some of the best one liners ever.

When people used to dress up nice to get on an airplane.
3:46/5:20 Look very closley at that scene. This effects was shot twice, one with the airplane and the other with a stuntman. In the end, both scenes were put together as if it looked like someone was actually falling out the plane.
