Thank you for paying attention to payload. It is so important! I see all these rigs with campers and pop ups and I can only guess that they are over payload.

It’s a chronic problem for sure. Both automakers and camper manufacturers aren’t helping!

A lot of 3rd Gen Tundra owners complain about the fit and finish of the center console and glovebox then there is whistle from trim misfitting

Haven’t heard about either issue yet, but it’s not surprising from the 3rd gen’s we’ve checked out!

I think if that is a First Edition it actually might be leather

Would make sense for a premium model like that!

Sorry guys, as much as you are focused on payload and give Toyota a bad mark for their current lineup, the Hummer missed that mark by a large margin, yet you make it sound like it's acceptable because it is a EV. The alternate option is to tow a off-road capable trailer which has it's own payload and then towing capacity comes more into focus. Going bigger also comes with the added challenges that it limits where you can go with your family. Many easy to moderate trails may be outside your reach because of width and length of a bigger rig. Anyway, thank you for your video and your insight, it was informative nevertheless.

You’re spot on with the Hummer EV comment. We were reacting to the payload given the oversized battery that the hummer comes with… but even so it lags behind the 1,700+ lb payload that you can get with a Rivian. I’ll add a little caption through UA-cam since our reaction was off-base.
And yes, trail limitations increase with size. It’s a trade off that really will depend on the style of trips that we end up taking in the long run. Ideally we’d have a mid-size SUV for wheeling and a well equipped heavy duty truck for extended trips.
Thanks for watching and calling us out haha. We’ll gladly make corrections when we are wrong 😉

@@Western-Wild no worries. Off the cuff reviews are never easy and quite frankly your honest reactions are far better than watching someone that follows a script. You guys are doing great.

I have had a number of Toyota’s over the years but they have completely missed the mark in not making a truck that has the suspension and payload capacities to handle the truck camper and overlanding market. You pay $50-60k plus for a truck and then have to put a bunch more money into the suspension to get into the truck camper and overlanding game.
My Ford F350 has 4300 lbs of payload and I never have to worry about hauling whatever it is I want to haul.
When Toyota makes a true 3/4 and 1 ton truck I will consider coming back to Toyota.

@@scottg9208 agreed completely. We’d love to see a rugged Toyota truck with a high payload… but as of right now if we had to go truck shopping Ford would be our first stop.

    Tundra engine issues

Almost mentioned that… but haven’t done enough research on the topic to speak knowledgeably about it.

A hybrid SUV is a very strange solution. The first river is deeper than 1.5 meters and you don’t have a car, but a monument. And it will be very good if it does not electrocute passengers. (English is not my native language)

@@alexgardian3492 for sake of comparison both the Toyota Tacoma and Hilux have a safe fording depth of around 27in or 70cm. The all electric Rivian is rated for 43in or 109cm.

@@Western-Wild That's right. That’s why I indicated the ford depth of 1.5 meters. I can drive 70 centimeters in my Prius without any problems. Okay, not 70 but 50, but this is an ordinary passenger car!
