I was like, wow, at long last, an interview with the woman who voices Daria, I can finally see what she actually looks like.

The resemblance is uncanny.
As 24 and born in 96... I feel I was cheated on shows like Daria about real situations. She was negative most times but... it was authentic. More than anything I grew up with.
i agree that i sometimes mourn that i was never able to see daria and shows like it - i was born a year before the show ended. but i think, in time, we'll have a better understanding of which shows of our generation were representative in the way daria is. the death of monoculture at least means that daria had nearly as much impact on me in 2015 as it did on teenagers in 1997.
@@jupiterrocks24 I can think of a few that might. I haven't seen BoJack Horseman but I've head many good things about it and how it tackled all kinds of various aspects of life. Moral Orel was another pretty introspective show (season 2 & season 3) though it veered more towards criticism on the deeply religious. Though these two shows weren't really aimed specifically for teenagers but they still were quite thought-provoking.
I was born in 97 and used to watch MTV Daria reruns on our boxy, staticky TV. I got left alone a lot though. I think there were fun things about the early 2000s too, like early spongebob and Avril Lavigne (lmfaooo - not authentic but I believed her as a kid)
at least you experienced nick/cartoon network in their prime. I'm a little older (27, born in 93) and I remember my older sister watching Daria a lot, but high school stuff just wasn't relatable for me then. On the other hand I actually liked As Told By Ginger. All the boys secretly did but never wanted to admit it lol. Very similar to Daria I feel like, and you probably remember that one.
Glad I was born in 1981! I was 15/16 in 1997, so me and Daria were probably the same age. Good times. I loved the 90s 😊
I love this so much, I remember this was sort of a trend around this time to have an animated character talking on a live clip. I wish things like this would come back.
Also that grainy quality and dated graphics, that aesthetic brings back so many memories.
it was such a delight to find! i'm only sad that there weren't more instances (although notable beavis and butthead appeared on david letterman, if that suits your fancy!). it's so interesting to see how the world changes completely in just fifteen years.

honestly if you look up beavis and butthead interviews, there’s a bunch of them out there. MTV milked that show till it’s death, and i guess that meant having them host one of the thanksgiving parades.
Kinda funny how the interviewers name is Jane and that happened to be Daria’s best friend
“They have to figure out that when the telephone makes that funny noise, you’re supposed to pick it up and say Hello” LOL 😂

I think this is also the only time in that show's history that Daria directly acknowledged Beavis & Butt- Head.
Beavis & Butthead were also acknowledged on an MTV video animation countdown hosted by Daria and Jane.
The pilot episode has Helen say that she doesn't want Lawndale to be like Highland all over again, and Daria refers to tainted water.
Man, I miss this type of stuff! ;( Real-life people & cartoons meeting and interacting which looks so cool and natural!~ ;( There was always a genuine magic to seeing these kind of things, ESPECIALLY back then!~ :D

yeah, in B&B she didnt really hate them like the rest of the town did. they're kinda like that one friend you have thats not very smart but charming enough to hangout with.
Maybe their stupidity is amusing for her. I can't think in a another reason of why she wanna talk voluntarily with them

lol i wouldn't quite go that far, but she's definitely not the same once you're no longer a teenager idolizing her. she could be quite arrogant, but that was what made her fun to watch.

they're available on the DVD boxset, which I picked up a few years ago for $10. you can buy them online as well. honestly, the story is incomplete without them! is it fall yet is set after season 4, and is it college yet after season 5.

I've never seen the 'Daria' movie called, 'Is it College just as Yet' before. Neither one of you has ever said this to me before; "I heard you loud and clear." Duane (Duane G.Shelton) just doesn't trust this; cartoon comedy show especially, when I told him that it's a spinoff of 'Beavis and Butthead.' Would I dare say that, Daria even differs from Gumby?
