I wish she was my mother, or a teacher, or a neighbour, or anyone else, I just want a woman like her in my life
Thought I was the only one who really need someone like her
We'll share her. LOL
GIRL DONT WE ALL PLS
Yes.. I think that. There are certain people you see and you do think, I'd like to know them or for them to be you Freind, some one to hang out with or just chat.. X I miss my kids being babies meeting mums/people at play groups ect.. Life just changes all the time.. X
There's approximately one thousand of us...
I love her messy hair, her messy stuff around her. Zero glamour, very authentic
Zero glamour lmao, that sounds a lot harsher when read out loud. But I guess
@@Steve-si5nq I guess it's meant as the "glitz and glamour" meaning often used to talk about celebrities. She's still beautiful (glamorous) but doesn't see the need for any fakery, posing or an on camara persona, instead just being herself.
Is it weird that I find her total lack of glamour really attractive
There is hope for me yet🤭😜just a woman too

I used to have a professor who smiled just like him, and I could never tell if he was heartily agreeing or quietly laughing at me.

If she had an album of poetry readings or just her talking I would buy it.
I believe she does. love poems
Me too if I had any money to my name
my too. she does it beautiful
i would spend all the money in the world
she does have a lot of poetry readings. 'A Poem for Every day of the year'; 'The Book of Hopes' to name some. and she reads some books too, and recorded some plays. My personal favorites are: her reading of 'The Secret Garden', HBC as Rosalind in 'As You Like It', and as Amanda in 'Private Lives' which can be found here in YT. ^_^
I could listen to Helena read poetry out loud all day! She is so lovely!
😍 She certainly is lol
@@buskingkarma2503 I think she sounds great when she does a Yorkshire accent. ua-cam.com/video/LuDTQ6O2G7M/v-deo.html
@Yes Sir! agreed friend 😁
Imagine having a cup of tea with her out on the porch, swinging comfortably in one of those old fashioned flower printed benches, books and poetry in hand. What an image.
@The Marquis De Quigley omg this SENT me 😂😂
@The Marquis De Quigley oh.
Pure peace
You mean boring
She could even read a check list from the grocery store and I would be like: wow. That's beautiful. Her voice just give me a "thing"
She reminds us that poetry must be read out loud
yes right
Helena: "when i'm an old woman i shall wear purple"
Helena: *is already wearing purple*

Helena after reading a poem: *Z* *E* *N*
Me after reading a poem: *Visible confusion*
Some poetry is more 'confusing' than others -- i.e. requires more reading into or connecting with than others. But by and large you get better at 'understanding' poetry as your read more of it. Not every one will necessarily click with you, and sometimes you might come across a poem that is completely baffling at one point of time in one mood, but is utterly sublime in another.
HAHAHA WHEN I TELL YOU I WHEEZED THIS IS A WHOLE MOOD!!
every poem should be read at least twice. sometimes a poem will get stuck in your head and you won't be able to forget about it for a long time. but maybe you will experience something similar to whatever it was that inspired the poet to write what they did, and then; aha.
Helena saying "just do things now because this ain't a rehearsal" is my new inspirational quote. ❤️
I love her chipped nail polish
When she reads the poem is like she's acting it, lol.
She's lovoely! I like her.
I love the way Helena speaks. So full of grace and character. She was born to be an artist.
@velveteyes79 I think she is an artist. I consider acting a form of art. :)
@velveteyes79 Yeah, believe what you want. I like to think acting is a form of art. To me, each actor creates their own interpretation of the script and in the act of doing so, they're creating something original themselves. Hence the term, 'performing arts'. To be a great actor, you need originality, emotion, creativity and imagination. What's not artistic about that? Her acting style is original to me, like many other great actors. Children act as a part of lying so that they can get what they want. Actors act in theatres to impress people. You go to a gallery to be impressed by an artist's work. What's the difference? I don't know why you're so against this notion.. but you and I disagree. Deal done.
But acting is a form of creation
@velveteyes79 Painting and photographing is a form of skill, surely. Sculpting is a form of skill. But you call these 'creating' but call an actor creating a character in real-life 'fake'?
@velveteyes79 You. Have. Got. to be kidding me. You must live in a world of enclosure to think art is only limited to the things you describe of. Wow. I don't think there's anymore we can discuss. Wow. I was an art student and for years, was told to think outside the box. But hey, everyone's different right? You're seriously offending thousands of artists out there but who cares? It's just an opinion. lol
She could read anything and it would be calming to me....
She's an actress a narrator & a POET!!!!
I used to hate her for her evil roles, but now I realized that she's a perfect actor for making me hate her!!
**Oh yeah one more thing!!! I used to think that she is Johnny Depp in disguise
GN 😂😂😂 love that!
I want her to be a TED speaker, a teacher on University, an Oscar winner, a poet and queen of England. She is everything the humanity needs.
if helena was my english lit teacher in secondary school, i wouldn't of missed a second of the lesson
I love English I just adore it I adore her I feel the exact same 😍😍

“The tragedy is not that we are old .. it’s that we are young ..(Oscar Wilde )

Such a stunning woman, stunning in all senses. Physically, mentally. She is stimulating to the mind. There is something she mentions in the video on how good television or poetry eases, brings us calmness. Her energy does the same to me. HBC is so special for this reason.
i agree completely. she’s like.. platonic soulmate quality, if that makes sense?also hi name twin!

Thank you, Helena for mentioning that poetry must be read aloud
I MUST WEAR PURPLE NOW. AND ALWAYS.
Already my favourite colour so I'm halfway there, never heard that poem somehow despite studying English Literature at university, do like it very much, even more so when read by Helena.
I am going through a difficult situation and cannot access my medication, I cannot even foresee a future when I am old and safe enough in order to regret not shaking off my constraints - so when she's read "when I am old I shall wear purple" I simply burst out crying. She's truly amazing.
Sending you some nourishing love. 🤍
@@jakebesaw Thank you, kind stranger 🤗
I hope you are ok. It can be very difficult at this time of year, as the seasons change. Are you able to get physical exercise like running or cycling? Scientists say it has at least as good an effect as anti-depressants
I'm sorry to hear that. Please try to remain hopeful. Life contains kind surprises, too. Best to you.
Dear god I could listen to Helena reading poetry all day.
Oh lord I really love her voice, Helena voice is very relaxing to listen and not to mention she's really beautiful lady
Specially for 54 years old
deep for someone so small sized.
Shes great man, she should do an audiobook, i could fall asleep listening to her.
Irishfox omg yes
I really like this poem by Emily Dickinson called "I felt a Funeral, in my Brain". It's not a very happy poem but it definitely takes me somewhere else. Here it is:
I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,
And Mourners to and fro
Kept treading - treading - till it seemed
That Sense was breaking through -
And when they all were seated,
A Service, like a Drum -
Kept beating - beating - till I thought
My mind was going numb -
And then I heard them lift a Box
And creak across my Soul
With those same Boots of Lead, again,
Then Space - began to toll,
As all the Heavens were a Bell,
And Being, but an Ear,
And I, and Silence, some strange Race,
Wrecked, solitary, here -
And then a Plank in Reason, broke,
And I dropped down, and down -
And hit a World, at every plunge,
And Finished knowing - then -
what does it mean
You should read Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath
This literally gave me the first smile of the day. Those poems were uplifting and it's such a pleasure hearing her recite them.
she has such a soothing voice. i love when she reads poetry.
Poetry is a transfer of emotion.
“Now I Am Six” was my favorite poem as a child. What a joy to hear it read by Helena Bonham Carter!
Love all the background noise! It’s a real home not a soundstage. Blender, weed eater, faucet running.
I love the poem ‘When I grow old I shall wear purple...’ it brings to mind the human condition and how webbed we are in gossip that we should wait to old age to wear purple. Because when all is said and done people believe what they hear and they judge you on it even when they’ve never met you.
She's such a brilliant woman!
I love her sooo much ! ❤️ she's my pain killer, i could listen to her voice all day !!

i love poetry, especially when it's playful or when it makes you think. so much of it can be subjective, but that's the beauty of it
I could listen to her read poetry all day with that beautiful accent.
The poem , "Lady in Purple 💜 it just made me smile , it made my day .
An Old soul, an amazing actress and human being. Her Grandfather, I believe, helped Jews escaping Germany during Hitler reign. Gave them amnesty into Spain.
She's part Jewish herself
She reads Anne Frank's diary on audible. It was strange watching this video as I now associate her voice with Anne Frank!
Wil Sain what’s that supposed to mean??
@Wil Sain now i get it Lol
Austin Bombard exactly what you think it’s supposed to mean, ignore the type of people like him. Don’t feed them attention, they thrive on it.
She has an asmr voice 💛
It's a true tribute to her genius artistry that within the first few words and her quick glance at the camera she was the person in the poem... And I felt it...
when i first read harry potter, this was the voice inside my head.
I love Helena so much.
I can understand why, too.
She is the best😍😍
Certainly! What a lovely lady.
I agree
I haven't seen many of her films, but I think I wish to love her, too. I am not totally certain why.
She is absolutely amazing!!
She is such a rare beauty. Behind all her crazy looks and looking like a living corpse. She is beautiful.

She is so lovely. I agree I did not have a television for many years and now I watch far too much. I love poetry. TS Eliot is my favourite.
The old possoms books of practical cats
Kat Baugh “April is the cruelest month” but also yes. Poetry suits lockdown so I have been re-reading Wordsworth, Shelley, Byron etc.
Emily Dickinson's work inspires me. So good at imparting so much while being so concise.
deborah lariscy “Because I could not stop for death” is how I feel most days. Even in lockdown I am busier than ever. Strangely I just had a check up recently now need to go to hospital for a few days, which can turn into more, and that can be boring so rather than carry my 5;000 best poems which weigh a ton around. I went out today looking for a slim volume but where every poem is gold and found it. It does not contain many different styles and only a few poets but like I say all gold Blake, Coleridge, Wordsworth, Byron, Shelley and Keats. Just what the Doctor ordered :)
Oh I love hollow men by ts Elliot!!
Love Helena. She is unique and a classic. She can play anything.
This woman is a national treasure ❤
always loved the English accent. and on a Gorgeous women like Helena does not get any better.
It’s beautiful the fondness with which this man looks at Helena. I loved hearing her read these poems, particularly Milne’s poem, as I have a six year old and love him at this stage! I agree with another comment here, a collection of children’s stories read by hbc would be incredible ❤️
Perfect intonation, tone. Oh my! I can listen to her forever.❤
I could listen to her read poetry, all day long.
06:48 "The End" by A. A. Milne.
When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three,
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I'm as clever as clever
So I think I'll be six now
Forever and ever.
Ps. Somebody remember what The Architect said to Neo? That he was the Six.
i love and admire this woman so much i wanna cry
I like how amazing these poets are at effortlessly transporting the reader into the feelings of what they’re describing. They write a line of words and you feel as if you’re watching a movie.
She’s literally the coolest!
She's so humble and down to earth.
I hope gentle and guest focused interviews like this would make a resurgence.

I love Helena's passion for poetry and the way she's able to put into words what poems can do for us. She comes over as such a genuine and natural person too 😀
