I think the reason I relate to Daria on such level is that, today most of the people who know the character's face and saw some merch of the show, think of it as a cliché of that sarcastic poker-faced girl who doesn't give a damn about anything. But people like me, who watched the whole series, know that literally throughout the show she breaks so much expectations of this cliché. In one of my favorite episodes, "Gifted", Daria and Jodie are getting invited to an open day in some high school for smart students. And in that episode you can see the contrast between Daria and Jodie: although they are both smart, have really good grades and often use critical thinking, Jodie is a lot better in making social interactions, and Daria is a complete outsider. That way we learn that the fact Daria thinks most of the people around her are stupid af isn't the real reason she can't get along with anyone. Smartness doesn't cover up for lack of social skills, and Daria gets to deal with that a lot throughout the series.

She's content with being the odd one out but sometimes she does actually want to fit in. Good characters have flaws.
I loved how realistic Daria felt. I feel like it would be really easy to make her this above everyone smart girl that can do no wrong on account of her intelligence, but there's episodes where she fucks up and makes mistakes on account of that some worldview and 'intelligence' that sets her apart. Her dislike for people doesn't simply come from how she feels alienated on account of being 'too smart', which would be the easy way, but because she resents how much more difficult it is for her to be accepted and socialize. Not only that but she recognizes that as the real reason for why she's so full of contempt for society. It's a unique self awareness that reminds me of my teenage self since it's so authentic - you hate people because you think you're smart and they're dumb, but also you KNOW you're not THAT smart, because there's people smarter than you and far more likable. It just makes you more insecure and full of self hate and hate for people. I'm glad I grew out of it - I recognize now that the most important value people can have, regardless of how materialist or intelligent or sociable or whatever they are, regardless of difference in political opinions or anything, is their ability to be kind. And so long as people are well meaning and capable of kindness, that is what matters, not your ability to socialize or your intelligence.

Maybe introduce new friends, colleagues, peers and families in the series and new conflicts and issues reflecting current times. I spent most of my favorite we time at school reading or talking to my few friends.
I wasn't part of the disaffected generation because grunge wouldn't exist for ten years.
I like Daria because, like her, I'm not a trend guy. I would rather sit and rear than do whatever everyone else does. I just don't beat others down.
Quinn - Soprano
Helen - Mezzo-Soprano
Jane - Contralto/Alto
LOVE LOVE LOVE
Daria is my spirit animal
Best cartoon ever!!! It's 2024 I still love it.
Wait! Jane and Quinn are spoken by the same person? 😮
Now THAT'S some range right there!
Amazing!
She also played Daria’s mother as well. So whenever Jane, Quinn, and Mrs. Morgendorffer talk to each other, it’s really one woman having a conversation with herself.
Fun fact, the voice actor who played Kevin also played the two male teachers, Mr O Neil and Mr Dimartino. That’s some talented voice actors.
They need to make new seasons for this show, Daria would fit perfectly with Today's audiences
I was a nerdy outcast at high school so I loved watching Daria I could mostly see myself in her except I wanted to fit in but also had the dislike for the cliques and how certain people got preferiential treatment, 20 years later I have become more like Daria in my world view though still more friendly.
Kevin and DeMartino were voiced by the same guy? That's hilarious. I wonder if he recorded Kevin's lines first and then reacted to his own stupidity? 🤣
Apparently Daria show will get a feature length animated film about Jodie for Paramount + (Source may2022)
Sad never happened
Nah, they ditched it.
Beavis and Butthead took adolescence and made it a joke. Daria took it and made it human.
Yeah, I miss both shows too.
The woman who said in highschool she was a little bit Jane, Daria Quinn and Mr.DiMartino 😅 I felt that
I wear some Daria t-shirt and people are like "OMG! I remember that show!" I am also happy to say my 16 year old son loves it too
Jane, Helen, and Quinn were all the same actress. Trent voice: "Whoa."
I liked watching this in high school.
I needed trent n daria get together.
I wish they make new episodes
