Looked ALL over to find out what temperature I should try on my Weller Soldering iron. FINALLY have somewhere to start! I understand each iron maker is different, but I can at least try. Thank you!
Omg! It worked!! My new flux arrived and I used it! It actually flowed! I replaced the tip and conditioned it right away. Thank again for all the tips (instructions). 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Awwww!!! I AM SO HAPPY!! Yes!! If you condition it after soldering it will last for a A LOOOONG TIME!!! Good flux helps with solder flowing for sure!!!! So happy you are enjoying the process! It's so rewarding! Hugs!❤️
I am so happy this was helpful!!!! Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I just filmed two more video with a new technique! Cant' wait to share! Should be helpful as well! :))))

Hi dear ❤ thank you so much for this amazing video!! I’d be glad if you could give me some tips on how to do spikes. I tried and really unsuccessfully 😢
Hello! Thanks for answering so quickly to my last comment. I just purchased that tip tinner and also the soldering tip cleaner with brass mesh ball cleaner with the rosin flux - like your setup. Hoping that once I re-tin and have a way to keep tips clean I will have better luck. So I think this is what I understand… first time using tip I’m good to go. While using, clean it as you go re your demonstration. If they get bad then re tin them with the tip tinner. I’ll start with high temp and see how that goes. Im not sure how I will know that it’s too hot ( ?) but I can go lower. Thanks again for your quick response. Hopefully this is the answer to my issues.
Hi! Yes! That's right! Coat tip of the iron with rosin flux tip tinner I suggested as you solder. It will help soldering iron picking up solder easily. I am here if you have any questions :)😘
Awww! Thank you! Yes! I am super paranoid when it comes to this lol! I think it's the most important part in any work. Without our health we wont have our hobbies:)
I just got a soldering kit for xmas today and am so jazzed I jumped right onto UA-cam to find some tutorials and, VOILA, there you were! I asked for it specifically to use on jewelry making and I wasn't even thinking of this kind of application. I just wanted to reinforce connection rings on necklaces. My project list just grew exponentially! 🤩 I don't have a mask yet - and I don't remember using one in jr. high shop class when we learned to solder (circa 1987-1989). Wondering if that was a case of people not understanding the dangers yet or if using one is a product of what has become an overly cautious society (IMO). We rode bikes and skateboards without helmets and sat in smoky cars with the windows rolled up and most of us emerged from said childhoods without any serious harm or life altering conditions. #justsayin Anyway, thanks much for your videos!! Super helpful and inspiring. (re: Rings - go BIG or go HOME! 😜)
Hahaha! I am slightly on a paranoid side lol I WISH I wasn’t!! Hahaha I think if you have anything covering your noise would be better than nothing and if you do it in front of an opened window, you should be fine! I am so glad your project list just grew! Lol so happy you appreciate giant rings! I love some chunky jewelry! I just got myself a water sanding machine (which I am intimidated to open lol) so I will be experimenting with shaping some porcelain over a winter break. Yay!! Welcome to the club! If I’m ever not responding, it’s because UA-cam does not notify you about threads on existing comments. And if you have a question and not seeing your response, just start a new thread a.k.a. and you comment and I will see it and will get back to you right away.♥️ thank you so much for your support! Happy holidays!!! 🎉🎉🎉🥰🥰🥰🥰
@@eugeniaedits My partner is a "rock hound" and took me to a rock farm in central Oregon this fall and I scored some seriously awesome booty from the cut-offs bin there. I got 5-6 gorgeous rocks (agate, jasper, unknowns) for $1 (for all of them 😯). Highly recommend you seeing if there's something similar near you - or making a journey to Richardson's Rock Ranch just outside Bend, Oregon. Wishing you lots of exploratory fun with your new water sanding machine! Can't wait to see what you create and share with your community. Yay!!
@HDougherty omg!! That would be DREAM!! So I can tell myself I MADE everything in this ring including mining my own stones!! I will def take a look! How fun!! Thank you! I read instructions last night - so going to roll up my sleeve and take a leap into grinding porcelain ahaha Happy Holidays!! ♥️♥️🥳🙏🏻🙏🏻
You should use lead free solder and you would probably need to gold leaf it or cover it with liquid gold leaf since it's gold plated. I filmed a video on how to do it. I will have it on my channel soon :)
I have been wanting to try this for some time. I metal detect and often find shards of pottery. I have a whole collection of them. I wonder if it is possible to file the pottery in to certain shapes. I'll have to watch more of your videos. This is really an exciting idea! Thank you.
Hi! ♥️ To shape pottery shards I use glass cutters with some glass cutting oil. I then sand it with Dremel. But the most ideal way to do it would be using sanding machine with water. Shaping fired pottery is a very dusty process and it overheats and can crack. So sanding machine w water really helps to eliminate dust and heat. I have not invested in one yet. So I can away with glass clippers and Dremel but it’s somewhat limiting. Thank you so much for watching my videos! So happy you will do something fun with your collection! ♥️ Eugenia 🥰
@@eugeniaedits It is very detailed. You did a great job on the video! 😊👍 I do know the steps now, but I consider myself a newbie still,...never know when someone will come up with something new. Always enjoy your videos , your good energy, and your creative ideas.💖🥰
Hi! Thank you so much! All you would need to do is buy two parts resin (get the smallest qty since you wont be needing a lot). Mix part A and Part B in 1:1 ratio for 5 min. You need a drop of part A and a drop of part B. You will then carefully apply a tiny amount of to porcelain/ crystal facing down and will secure a ring on top. Make sure they are secured in the positing you want them to be glued. Dont put too much as resin can ooze out. You can also use E6000 and a glue gun to temporarily set the ring along w resin. Then let resin cure for 24hrs and remove glue gun (if you used it to set a ring). And you ring will be securely attached as resin has the strongest bond. I hope this helps! :).🥰
Thank you so much for your generosity and for sharing so clearly all that you know! I am looking for a welder to do this type of work and I am not sure which one to buy? What brand or model do you use? Any advice? What temperature do you work at? Thank you so much!
Thank you!! So, they are tricky and I do struggle with them sometimes. I usually remelt the sharp point. You can also file it with a very fine 1200 and up sandpaper. If you only file a point - you wont dull the whole piece. It wont be noticeable. You can also polish it with steal wool and silver cream afterwards. I hope it helps. They are challenging to avoid at times
I loved your video. It was very clear and I too have been wanting to do this for a long time. Do you also do the beads of solder to enhance the look of the piece or could do a video on that?
Hi! Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I am so happy this was helpful! I do have a video on textures, here it is :) ua-cam.com/video/1C-w7NIPssI/v-deo.html
I bought this soldering iron and it arrived today. I’m still having failures though. The tip it came with worked at first, but it just won’t pick up any solder. 😭 I ordered the flux you use. It arrives tomorrow. I hope that solves the problem. I’ve been trying and trying for so long. Your info is so helpful.
Oh! Sorry that you are having troubles! Have you tried conditioning tips with solder after Soldering? The reason why soldering tip is not picking up solder is because it’s oxidized. In my videos I show how to condition tips every time you are done soldering it’s very important to prevent oxidation ♥️ also, this Soldering Iron comes with replacement tips. So if you accidentally damaged the tip you’ve used, simply replace it and make sure to condition it moving forward. 🙏🏻🥰 I hope this helps. ♥️
Ohh thank you for replying! You are amazing by the way. I love all that you do. I am also an artist that does a bunch of different things. We are a breed that just can’t do one specific art thing to satisfy our souls 😍 So, I did not condition it before using it the first time. I did see the parts in your video that talked about how to condition it so I probably did damage the tip. I will try again tomorrow and use a new tip and I know how to change it because thankfully you showed us how. My new flux comes tomorrow- excited. Thanks again for responding! I’ve searched so long for local classes even up to three hours away and I can’t find anybody that can show me in person.😵💫 Thank you!!
Hi! That's so cool that you also do many things! We are crazy but the best kind of crazy! Doing many things is so fun!! Let me know if a new tip and new flux work! And if not message me here or on one of my etsys or on IG. UA-cam only shows first initial comment and does not notify me of threads! So I did not see yours up until today! So if I am not responding just find me on IG or Etsy and I will be able to help if you would need any help! Happy you are soldering! Its so fun!!!
Hi, such an awesome way of teaching!!!! Thanks for that. I came across your channel today, totally addicted, and I bought all of the gear. Unfortunately, the Fluss doesn't ship to Sweden. Do you have any recommendations ? One more question 😅 can I use a tumbler for polishing finish? I myself do jewellery, and I love casting completely fascinante by soldering jewellery because of you!!!! Thank you for sharing your💫💯 rock!! Stay well
Awww!!!! You ARE SO SWEET! Thank you!! I would go to a computer repair shop and ask them what they use for soldering motherboards they should have some flux recommendations. It's liquid so amazon doesnt want to ship overseas ( I think :)_) or maybe look up Flux for soft soldering or Flux for soldering iron in your area. I think a home repairs shop should have it. So sorry you are having trouble finding! ❤️ Re tumbler, to be honest, I would avoid it because we are really relying on copper tape a lot and if it will get wet for prolonged periods of time it might get loose. If you want to polish, you can use very find sand paper like 2400 and then go over with Wright's Silver Cleaner and Polish Cream to bring some shine back. You are so awesome! I can feel the energy thru your comment! Nice to meet you! Let me know if you need anything. If I dont respond to this comment please start a new thread, UA-cam does not notify me of a new comment on an existing thread. But if it's a brand new comment I see it :) Hugs from LA!😘
I was wondering if I could use this nice wide ring to torch fire using hard solder and attach a large sterling silver decorative sheet? The ring wires I have forged so far are solid sterling not plated. I just love the look of this ring and it’s width. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity and art!❤
I would really to find out if the base is good for torch. I am not sure to be honest. I have not graduated to hard soldering - that cool thing is on my to do dream list for next year. ♥️ Thank you so much for your kind comment and makes me so happy that my creative endeavors are fun to watch! 🥰🥰🥰
copper has a higher melting point than sterling silver, so it should work fine, but why not simply make wider ring bases using sterling sheet instead of wire?
THANK YOU SO MUCH :) fascinating video. Makes me want to try making jewelry myself. At 12:19 you say 'varnishing', the correct word would be ''Burnishing'', for the process you do with your tweezers...
Great video What is the best copper solder to use? I am going to try this for the first time and I want my piece to look like it's covered with copper.
Hi! The best solder to use is this one amzn.to/3YW0Tgl but you won’t have a copper color as it’s silver. You can use a tint and add that onto the pieces but it might rub off. So generally all soldering with soldering iron are done with silver (color) soldering wire. And it’s difficult to make it copper or gold. But I wish there was a way. I am trying to figure it out too still ♥️
hello! I am writing to you from Argentina, your video helped me a lot to evaluate what tools to buy. Do you know the measurements of the soldering iron tips? since we don't have that specific model here, but I want to get something similar. thank you very much and thank you for your video ❤❤❤
Awww! That's so awesome! From Argentina!!! How cool!! Thank you so much for watching my videos and finding them helpful! Regarding soldering tip, I would get the one that is comparable with your soldering iron. I use variety of tips, for detailed work (like adding beads) I use a 17 mm long pointy tip. They all tend to be 17 mm long. But sometimes you would need a chisel tip. So I would get a medium thin one and it should be good if you are just starting out. Main thing is to get a soldering iron that has replacement tips. So in case you burn thru them - you can replace them. I hope this help! :))) Hugs from LA!❤️🥰
i absolutely loved everything about this video, thank you for explaining everything it was amazing thank you one question tho, can we polish it too or is it not possible
Hi! Im really enjoying your videos. I am looking for the rings you use, you mentioned a link but i cant find it or a reference of what to buy. Could you please let me know which rongs you use?
Hi!! UA-cam only shows initail comments and does not notify about threads!! JUST SEEING THIS! So sorry for the delay! You are so sweet! yes my ig is @lamodernique :) thank you!!!!
Hi! :) to be honest I did not with brass yet - but I know that if you wrap any metal with copper tape than it wont matter what metal you use. I am just lucky that those silver plated rings have copper underneath and I know that copper and solder are great together. But I would have to test with brass. If it wont, adding a strip of copper tape and then completely covering w solder might be a solution.❤️
Thank you for the videos. I am getting into soldering. I have a piece of material that the copper tape will not stick to. Can I use a bonding glue to tape the copper tape to the material and then solder? Thank you!
Hi Eugenia, great video! Thanks for explaining everything so clearly. Can this method be used to join two charms (with round hooks) with a silver jump ring?
Hi Eugenia, You DID inspire me to purchase supplies for soft soldering after watching your tutorials last week. I purchased a lower priced solder iron ( probably first mistake). I got lead free silver gleam solder, Harris stay-silv flux, copper tape. Today I gave it a try, I could not get it to hold the solder. I’ve been looking again at your tutorials and a few other ones to figure out what the issues are. Did the iron tip have to be conditioned before using? I tried that when it didn’t work but I then thought it was messed up somehow because that wouldn’t work. I then wondered if it was the temperature setting. What is is supposed to be? Mine states it’s 120w adjustable temperature 392-932. It was in c and I put it at the highest which was 500. I didn’t get tip cleaner with the iron and I see that is very important. K kernowo was the brand. So I am trying to figure what I’m doing wrong. To high heat or too low? Not cleaned well? I used a different solder to tin it - was that wrong? I have been doing different types of jewelry and I have the metal smith background. I lately have been making wire wrapped jewelry which is so cool and after watching you last week, I thought oh that would be a great addition to what I’m now doing. I like the artistic freedom this soft solder brings. I’m 69 and very tenacious so I will not give in, I will figure it out. If it’s the solder iron that you use that’s the answer then tell me and I’ll get it. I just wanted to see if I could do it without going all in at first, so any insight you can give me is much appreciated, Thanks !
Hi!! I am sorry you are having troubles! I think if you can get a tip tinner like this one amzn.to/3x4lGUX you should be able to pick up solder. The reason you cant is because of the tip. So every time you are done soldering you would need to condition it with that same solder you are. using when soldering. So that coat of metal prevents the tip from oxidation. But when an iron is brand new and its your first time soldering, you dont need to "pre-condition" with metal/solder but right after the first use - turn it off and quickly coat the iron tip and let it solidify and coat the tip. And keep it that way until your next use. The reason why I dont use the tip tinner (the link I sent) is because my soldering iron comes w the station that has it. So if you got a different soldering iron - it might not have that tip tinner. So getting that and coating the tip while you are soldering would solve it. Re the temperature, I suggest set it the highest for now. You will then be able to see what temp works best as you solder more. I hope this helps! If you still have issues - getting the iron and flux I suggested would be ideal. I am here if you need any help :))) If I dont respond to a thread please start a brand new comment and I will see it right away. Hugs!!! Eugenia❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi! Better to do it right before you start soldering and keep it next to you when you solder. You would need to apply it whenever solder does not want flow (aka become liquid). Flux helps solder to melt :)
Hi, thank you so much for your kind comment! To be honest with you know I have never tried. I will do some research I usually use the Tips that come with the soldering iron. The one that I’m using I really like and because I condition to Tips and it’s not oxidized. I never had a issue and never needed to look for a different tip. But I will do some research and if I find something interesting, I will let you know. ♥️
Hi! Flux is usually lead free. It’s made out of borax mostly. Here is a full description ♥️flux, in metallurgy, any substance introduced in the smelting of ores to promote fluidity and to remove objectionable impurities in the form of slag. Limestone is commonly used for this purpose in smelting iron ores. Other materials used as fluxes are silica, dolomite, lime, borax, and fluorite.
Thank you so much for these tutorials! I have a question though, is the lead free solder the same as silver solder, or is it just called "silver" because of its color? Because I already have soft silver, and medium silver solder chips, which I use with a torch (not the suggested wire), and I tried using those, but they don't melt at all, although I can see that the iron got really hot because it turned reddish (I also already had another soldering iron, not the one you suggested).
Hi, I wanted to close aluminum band by soldering the ends together to wrap around a gem for a gem ring and put it on an silver ring. In the comments you say that it doesn’t work well with silver but my problem is that I want to close the ring band. How do I do this? Is it possible if I put copper band onto the ends of my ring band and then solder it together? The Aluminum band doesn’t stick together as well because the solder keeps falling off :(
Yes! You can wrap ends with copper tape and the it will work! Once you cover almost anything with copper it will solder. Just make sure to wrap copper tape tight so it does not fall off once you add solder. Especially if there is going to be any tension. If you are setting a stone between two ends of a ring band I would also wrap that stone copper tape. But in a way that it does not cover the stone and still looks nice. I hope this helps. ♥️ you can also DM on one of my Etsy or IG and send me photos so I will be able to see exactly issue you are having so I can help you better ♥️
Hi! Your videos are incredibly helpful, thank you!! I make only gold jewelry, is there any chance you can do a video using gold? Thanks so much for doing this!😊
Hi! Thank you so much! I have been meaning to develop a technique! As solder only comes in silver. But! I do have a method of how to turn silver into gold and I will film it in the two weeks. I have been meaning to do it! 😅😘💃🏻💃🏻🥳Happy Holidays! Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
Are you using C° or F° ? I also suggest using rubber gloves while using flux. It’s an acid and also toxic to you by soaking into your skin. I am a stained glass artist. I appreciate all of your safety tips. I’m trying to solder with lead free.
Hahah! I am sure you will do great! I posted a new video on how to keep piece in place. Here is a link that might be helpful :) ua-cam.com/video/VKBQcOAinj0/v-deo.html
Ciao, mi piace quello che crei! Capisco poco l'inglese quindi ti chiedo se, per favore, puoi scrivere quali materiali ed attrezzi usi: marca e modello saldatore, bastoncini per saldare, cere .... Grazie mille!!!
Ciao! Grazie mille per aver guardato i miei video! :) Tutti i materiali sono collegati nella descrizione di ciascuno dei miei video. Potrai trovare tutti gli strumenti e i materiali, compreso il saldatore :) Ciao da Los Angeles! Adoro l'Italia!
@marissamcdonald6092 yeah, gold is difficult to recreate when soldering w soldering iron as solder only comes in silver. So a work around would be gold leafing a piece and then covering it with resin to seal. I am still developing a technique. There is liquid gold leaf that you can apply but, it rubs off. 🥴♥️
I am new here I have done some stainglass soldering years ago and alway wanted to so jewelry solder! I wonder why a large mask is needed since you are not using 40/60 lead solder?? You are using lead Free solder???
Hi! I am just being extra paranoid and cautious 🤓 but according to my research any fumes from any kind of soldering are not good for you. So I use that mask + a carbon filter fan. I am using only lead free solder since I am wearing those pieces ♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻 So excited for you to make something fun!! 😘😘
Thank you! 🥰 I have them at my Etsy shop 💖 I am out of stock now but I am getting them back in stock by the end of next week. Here is a link www.etsy.com/listing/852605750/no-tarnish-silver-ring-base-adjustable
Hi! Thank you for this video! I am new to soldering and I ran into a problem. I was in the middle of working on a piece and the tip stopped collecting solder (like it did in the video when you stepped away for a little) can I still save the tip? I tried cleaning with a wet sponge(with water) and a wire cup brush and I'm afraid I ruined my tip in mid project. I also was working in my attic where it was cold, if that means anything. Any suggestions appreciated!:) Thank you
Hi Sara! ♥️ So, it could be that it’s now oxidized and you would need to replace it. Especially if it’s the environment was humid. Does your iron come with replacement tips? If it does just go ahead and change the tip. Then after you’re done soldering, make sure to condition it with solder to prevent oxidation. Try to code it with rosin flux. It might work 🙏🏻 sorry that you are having an issue!

only lead free soft solder, you wont be able to use any other metal because of the temperature. In order to solder with other metals you would need to use torch to melt metals. Soldering iron is not hot enough for those
Do you mean what temperature. of the soldering iron? It does :) If you want to cover surfaces fast and have it be smooth - you d need to solder around 800 f and if you want texture than around 650. But. Each solder and each iron are unique. And it depends on the environment you are in. If you are in cool room then you might need to raise the temperature. I hope this helps :)
tysm for this video! can i use regular mask instead of respiratory? or can I just use fan instead of mask? respirators are so expensive in my country and i just want to try if i can do soldering or not
Hi! It’s better to use a respirator but if you solder next to an open window and have a fan on and wear two masks you should be fine. But soldering is toxic so it’s better to use a good respirator ♥️
Hi Alma:) thank you so much for your question. I just wanted to clarify. By permanent generally application are you asking if the jewelry pieces that are created with a soldering iron tend to last long? If that is your question then yes, absolutely this method is very durable. ♥️ please let me know if I answered your question 🥰
Hi! I like copper base silver planted rings as they do not require copper tape. They also do not tarnish as they are plated. I have them in my Etsy store. I had to make a listing as everyone was asking. But you can use any base and see if solder will stick to it. If not, just wrap the ring base with copper tape and you will be able to use any ring. I hope this helps ")

Hi ! I just started and tried sodure but I’m having trouble. it’s« drying » instantly and I can’t make it hot again when I applied it, it’s getting really thick and makes little pieces of dry sodure that falls appart etc.. I have been using flux and all but I wonder if it’s the heat or maybe the wire ? I really don’t know but your video is very cool ! Do you think you could help me ?
@@eugeniaedits yes i saw that, but on your video it seems to stay « liquid » or meltable i don’t know ? I’ll try to raise the temperature thank you so much ! Maybe it’s the wire too, it’s like 0.8 mm maybe it’s too thin ? I’ll check the brand in the morning
Hello Eugene, you set your soldering station temperature at 700 to 750 but you did not say if that is Celsius or Fahrenheit, just checking as I am still trying to get rid of my little black spots! Google said, the soldering iron could be too hot or it's the Flux so I am going through process of elimination, thank you💖✌️
Hi Eugenia, thank you for the video. I am about to start making jewellery and was looking for a video like this. I have a question for you. Can I use solder on 925 silver that has no copper base? I was to solder silver jump rings so they cannot open by themselves. Thank you in advance and I hope you have a great weekend.
Yes, this is actually perfect and would work because the ring bases that I am using are also copper base covered with sterling silver✨ so you don’t even have to use copper tape because you have a copper base. So happy that you liked the video! 🥰
Question.... When I tried this, the solder balled up, and didn't "flow" or stick easily to the copper, or flow pout to the edges, it stuck in the center of the strip... I couldn't easily coax it out to the edges... I was using Aquiflux rather than your stained glass flux. Am I just using the wrong flux? Using the wrong temperature? Or is there an application technique I'm missing? Or maybe just the wrong solder? I got led free "silver solder" but it wasn't the same brand you had.
Hi Kruz:) I still have not tried that pointy ends technique we have talked about. So I am not an expert on that yet but I think you should use the pointy tip and go 150 degrees cooler for the spikes to form. But once I try that I will let you know and I will post a voide♥️♥️♥️
is your solder iron plugged into a wall outlet ?? i want to get the iron you’re using but wondering where you connect it to lol thank you !! such a great vidoe
Hi! I use silver plated ring bases and my solder sticks to it without copper tape. But you can totally wrap any metal with conductive copper tape and you would be able to solder any surface.♥️
Looked ALL over to find out what temperature I should try on my Weller Soldering iron. FINALLY have somewhere to start! I understand each iron maker is different, but I can at least try. Thank you!
Thank you for teaching so much that we really need to know in order to do this. ❤
Omg!
Hugs!❤️

So happy you covered the H&S regarding PPE as quite a lot of crafters don’t

#justsayin
Anyway, thanks much for your videos!!

I have a gold plated jump ring I want to connect both ends together, what kind of soldering paste should I use?
You should use lead free solder and you would probably need to gold leaf it or cover it with liquid gold leaf since it's gold plated. I filmed a video on how to do it. I will have it on my channel soon :)
This is soooooo great - thankyou !

Can one also use a sanding stone to file the China??

Hello love your video. At 24:26 in the video you mention attaching the ring base to the stone with resin. How would you do that?

Great tutorial! How do you avoid sharp pointy edges in the solder?

We are a breed that just can’t do one specific art thing to satisfy our souls 😍
So, I did not condition it before using it the first time. I did see the parts in your video that talked about how to condition it so I probably did damage the tip. I will try again tomorrow and use a new tip and I know how to change it because thankfully you showed us how. My new flux comes tomorrow- excited. Thanks again for responding! I’ve searched so long for local classes even up to three hours away and I can’t find anybody that can show me in person.😵💫
Thank you!!

Thank you so much for your kind comment and makes me so happy that my creative endeavors are fun to watch! 🥰🥰🥰
copper has a higher melting point than sterling silver, so it should work fine, but why not simply make wider ring bases using sterling sheet instead of wire?
Would I be able to do this on denim jeans?
:))) Hugs from LA!❤️🥰
i absolutely loved everything about this video, thank you for explaining everything
it was amazing thank you
one question tho, can we polish it too or is it not possible
Yes! You can polish it with soft cotton and using silver polish cream for shine. For smoothness you can use 2500 and up sand paper ♥️

Nice video I want to start this process. Question does the ring have to be copper filled? Can it be brass filled?? Great job…
Thank you!
What do you call those bezel settings you were showing towards the end of the video? The ones that are custom-made for an irregularly shaped stone?
Hi Eugenia, great video! Thanks for explaining everything so clearly. Can this method be used to join two charms (with round hooks) with a silver jump ring?
I love your video. Can I use this soldering iron for silver rings??
You can use soldering for silver rings you would just need add copper tape onto silver ring base and proceed with soldering as usual :)
Hi would like to know if is copper foil tape and Heat resistant soldering tape (amber) are the same thing
Hi Eugenia,
You DID inspire me to purchase supplies for soft soldering after watching your tutorials last week.
I am here if you need any help :)))
If I dont respond to a thread please start a brand new comment and I will see it right away.
Hugs!!! Eugenia❤️❤️❤️❤️
with the flux, can you apply it the day before you solder or do you need to do it right before you start soldering?
Hi! Better to do it right before you start soldering and keep it next to you when you solder. You would need to apply it whenever solder does not want flow (aka become liquid). Flux helps solder to melt :)
Thank you for your helpful information.
Wondering… can flux, tape, and metal be used on stainless steel?
Hi! Yes! You pretty much can solder anything if you wrap it with copper tape! I work with stainless steel base for few projects and it worked ☺️
Really enjoyed your well presented informative video. Thank you!

hey there , thanks for you video. I was told that if you buy "copper tips" the heat conducted is more accurate and better. Have you tried that?
Hi, thank you so much for your kind comment! To be honest with you know I have never tried. I will do some research I usually use the Tips that come with the soldering iron. The one that I’m using I really like and because I condition to Tips and it’s not oxidized. I never had a issue and never needed to look for a different tip. But I will do some research and if I find something interesting, I will let you know. ♥️
Are you just using flux to solder those fractures together?
hi! do we have to use a lead free flux too for the soft soldering??
Great video Thank you💝🙏🧚♀️
Thank you so much for these tutorials!

Is it possible to do plating solder ring?
Hi! I am so sorry I am not understanding what is plated solder is :) could you please clarify ♥️
Are you using C° or F° ?
I also suggest using rubber gloves while using flux. It’s an acid and also toxic to you by soaking into your skin. I am a stained glass artist. I appreciate all of your safety tips. I’m trying to solder with lead free.

Can you use Sterling silver solder to do this? Or is there 14k gold solder?
Hi! For sterling, silver and gold, you would need to use torch because you would need much higher temperature than a soldering iron could provide♥️
Thank you, what about a gold colored version of what you are using? Not sure if they make one?
@marissamcdonald6092 yeah, gold is difficult to recreate when soldering w soldering iron as solder only comes in silver. So a work around would be gold leafing a piece and then covering it with resin to seal. I am still developing a technique. There is liquid gold leaf that you can apply but, it rubs off. 🥴♥️

Will there be harmful fumes if i melt only candle with that solder pen? What is exactly the thing that creates the harmful fumes?
The flux is what creates harmful fumes. Not the solder itself
Do i need to use solder or can i use other metals??
only lead free soft solder, you wont be able to use any other metal because of the temperature. In order to solder with other metals you would need to use torch to melt metals. Soldering iron is not hot enough for those
Where did you get the ring bases? Can you link it?
Hi Becca! :) I have them at my Etsy store :) Here is a link www.etsy.com/listing/852605750/no-tarnish-silver-ring-base-adjustable?ref=cart
Do you have a link for the wire you use?!
yes, it's in description but also here it is :) amzn.to/3YW0Tgl
Does it matter what temperature the solder is? Is it soft solder wire?
Do you mean what temperature. of the soldering iron? It does :) If you want to cover surfaces fast and have it be smooth - you d need to solder around 800 f and if you want texture than around 650. But. Each solder and each iron are unique. And it depends on the environment you are in. If you are in cool room then you might need to raise the temperature. I hope this helps :)
@@eugeniaedits Thank you for explaining it to me! :)

is it okay to clean the flux brush with soap and water?
Yes! That's exactly perfect :)
tysm for this video! can i use regular mask instead of respiratory? or can I just use fan instead of mask? respirators are so expensive in my country and i just want to try if i can do soldering or not
Hi! It’s better to use a respirator but if you solder next to an open window and have a fan on and wear two masks you should be fine. But soldering is toxic so it’s better to use a good respirator ♥️
Question: can this be used for permanent jewelry application?
Hi Alma:) thank you so much for your question. I just wanted to clarify. By permanent generally application are you asking if the jewelry pieces that are created with a soldering iron tend to last long? If that is your question then yes, absolutely this method is very durable. ♥️ please let me know if I answered your question 🥰
What’s the best base metal for a ring?
Yes, but solder is supposed to solidify immediately, but try raising a temperature. What brand of solder are you using? Is it lead free?
:)

Google said, the soldering iron could be too hot or it's the Flux so I am going through process of elimination, thank you💖✌️
Hi Anne! It’s in Fahrenheit ♥️
Whats the best temp setting for very points tips
Hi Kruz:) I still have not tried that pointy ends technique we have talked about. So I am not an expert on that yet but I think you should use the pointy tip and go 150 degrees cooler for the spikes to form. But once I try that I will let you know and I will post a voide♥️♥️♥️
is your solder iron plugged into a wall outlet ?? i want to get the iron you’re using but wondering where you connect it to lol thank you !! such a great vidoe
Thank you! Yes! It’s has a three prong plug that you connect to an outlet ♥️It’s my favorite iron. You won’t regret it ♥️♥️
Hi do you fix jewelry
Yes, sometimes I fix my jewelry when it's silver :)
@madebylamodernique thank you for responding Would you be able to fix a few pieces for me? Do you take customers
Damn I need 500 just to start this hobby I anit seen nobody face covered until I got to this video😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Try temu they have everything
Where do you get the rings for your designs?
Hi! I buy them wholesale :)
Can we use this soldering method on silver or gold?
Hi! I use silver plated ring bases and my solder sticks to it without copper tape. But you can totally wrap any metal with conductive copper tape and you would be able to solder any surface.♥️
How to clean flux from jewelry?
Hi! Use dish soap and water and scrub your pieces :) Then dry with paper towel :)
