      When doing what you are doing... tie a women's stocking over the end of the red hose... it will capture the calcium particles... if you do not use a stocking .... the calcium particles will go back into the pump and back into the filter screen... thus cleaning the filter screen again....p.s..use cooking oil on the filter screen o ring... it will prolong life of the o ring and help seal it better...p.s.s one time I was in a jam... I used my sock! And if you want.. add a anti scale filter on the incoming cold water side... change filter every 3 months... and never buy vinegar again! Antiscale filter is easier, faster,, and inexpensive p.s.s.s. antiscale filters will also remove alge and slime in the water!

      Isn’t there a part in the tubing where the hot water is leaving the heater and about to go into house that needs to be cleaned? I think that junction in tubing may be clogged since I have very hard water where I live and my hot water pressure suffers immensely. Any info on that?

    This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

    Also... tankless units typically have an air intake filter, which should be disassembled and cleaned as well. This is located on top of the unit, between where the air intake pipe connects to the unit itself. It acts as a catch-all for any dust ,debris, or buggies that may work their way in from the outside.
    Great video! Thank you!

  • @usmc7210
    @usmc7210 9 місяців тому +13

    Be a great idea to flush the system after your done too with clean water. Disconnect the intake hose and close the valve off and then turn on the water intake valve while the hot water side is open with the hose into a drain. Let it drain for 2 min to flush out the vinegar and any other debris you may have left. Also, I've found adding a sock with a rubber band on the discharge hose to be a great filter so you're not running sediment back through the vinegar flush.

I flushed my tankless water heater and found that after running the vinegar through the unit I emptied the bucket, filled it with fresh water and directed the hot water connected hose to my laundry tub. Then I turned on the pump and watched milky water run into the laundry tub. Filled the bucket up a couple more times and repeated the process. Doing this right now!
    My unit is in the attic! Such a struggle lol. Luckly, I have a drain pan underneath the unit that goes outside. I think I can use that to dump the nasty water??, instead of carrying the bucket down the stairs from the attic
    The blue and red values that you need to close (not the maintenance ones) was a struggle to close. I had to unscrew it and use pliers to turn the valves.

    Hi. Great video, but a couple of questions. At 4:47, you show turning on the hot side of a faucet before opening the water supplies on the unit. What purpose does running the sink serve? And... should you leave the sink running on the hot side while you open the water supplies on the unit? Thanks!

    Connect your hoses first after pulling off the caps. Put the hoses in the bucket and then open the valves. No need to spill any water.

    Thanks good video, I do this every year. Why not just hook the hoses up from the beginning when you're draining the system and then it'll all go in the bucket instead of making a mess?
