    He was so real, so authentic in life and acting; I do not think that he differentiated between the two as he adroitly said to Connie Chung that we are all actors in real life. He is right. Rest easy, Marlon. ❤

    • @Claude-Eckel
      @Claude-Eckel 6 років тому +6

      lol .. maybe you should whatch more interviews ... and especially one which wasn't filmed but only photographed, when Marlon himself had only two questions, one having been: _“Which one is Galella?”_ , the infamous paparazzo, asking it Dick Cavett who accompanied Marlon back then after Cavett's show. Cavett: _“The tall one.”_
      Brando called Galella over and asked a second question, now to Galella: _“What else do you want?”_ When Galella asked Brando it would be nice to get a shot without his sun glasses (it was night time) he got sucker-punched by Brando and found himself in a hospital with a broken jaw and five(!) teeth knocked out. End of interview. :))
      (although there's a little more behind Brando's reaction in 1973, regarding a Jackie Kennedy trial)

    I actually agree with many people that Kurtz was one of the most iconic roles in cinema, and Brando himself said that playing Kurtz was the closest he ever got to getting lost in a part. I think he followed like many actors do, DeNiro, Hoffman, Nicholson etc. They do the epic, gritty, hard-work roles in their youth, but as they get older and want to settle down with family they prefer to spend less time working and just make some easy money. Can't blame them, they've made their mark

    Nicely written, and I agree. There are still a few greats out there today Gary Oldman, Daniel-Day Lewis, but generally Hollywood has become such a business of celebrity culture that acting quality is pushed aside for the easy-sell, where everything is a remake or an adaptation of childrens/young teens books.

    Sometimes it's because an actor seems to reveal something about real people from your own memories. At that moment, they don't seem to be acting. You wonder how they did it. Brando came out of the social realist school and the Actors Studio learning how to use his own experiences-often suppressed anger which he then released. Also how to use props in a way that held your attention. His unique, revolutionary style made him a star. Other stars are fashionable male or female ideals for their time.

      +Nads He was payed only $50,000 for his role as Don Corleone. He also received percentages of gross sales which would have totaled $11 million... if he hadn't sold them for $100,000 being desperate for cash. The president of Paramount did not want to hire him, nor did any other major studio, he had a horrible reputation for difficulty which was well deserved. He was not at all "invulnerable in the film business".

'...One of the branches of Animal Magnetism that rose after Mesmer was called the branch of the "Imaginationists" that put importance on the power of the "imagination". Abbe Faria, an Indo-Portuguese monk in Paris, emphasized that... everything comes from the subject and takes place in his imagination i.e., autosuggestion generated from within the mind”. Brando said the audience does the acting if they like the story.

    Interesting question, man.
    Quickly thinking about your question - i think people just watch these actors in movies, sharing and telling their "story". > People connect emotionally to stories and heroes> but instead of leaving that within the movie itself> People recall an actor like Brando as T-he actual hero, T-he guy from that amazingly touching story!
    =So, that's why people adore actors so much,in my opinion.
    If politicians would tell amazing stories,maybe they'd be ador-able.but theyre not

    after tango he felt violated he felt intruded on ,theres a brando quote on imdb where he says that he never understood what the director of last tango was trying to convey with the movie.Maybe its for this reason of lack of understanding that he withdrew he became more technical .That shows me he truly had a passion before hand for acting .Marlon's acting before hand came from his imagination he didnt make it about himself . The director of last tango was about revealing the actors soul

    Nobody could ever get Marlon to sit down and talk seriously about his process when it came to the genius of his acting It was either he didn't understand it or rather didn't care to understand it or maybe he knew (and probably enjoyed) driving people crazy by acting like there was no process and all of it meant nothing OR maybe he didn't feel it was a subject worthy of being discussed seeing as how he's shared on more than one occasion a certain amout of loathing for the whole craft. Who knows?

    They should show this clip in diversity trainings, discussions in business schools, corporate world. Marlon figured how diversity of opinion is important way before business gurus of today.
