today's actors are trying to be like him but will never be like him. Marlon was a very intelligent man, great talent and a good actor
for some reason i find myself extremely captivated by this man facial gestures, he is somewhat hypnotic
I never really got into his performances until now. And his ideology is so incredible I could listen to him for hours
TheRubberStudiosASMR Enjoy it, its an unique moment! Still remember when i saw for the first time On the Waterfront and Streetcar Named Desire, didnt imagine what was waiting for me!
I still haven't seen them. I just think what he did in godfather, last tango and especially apocalypse now was beyond being an actor.
TheRubberStudiosASMR Watch "Viva Zapata" one of his best performances imo.
Marlon Brando is a legend!
He was a funny man. Playful like a big kid, but intelligent and charming (when he chose to be). Also the best screen actor that ever lived. The way he transformed acting by sheer force of his personality is still felt to this day.
Fer Abra He was kinda crazy :P
@@uncleclem7381 I wouldn't have minded his crazy side in Streetcar 😂 haha 😍🔥😳 how HOT he WAS I mean like good LAWD 😱🥵😏
@@uncleclem7381 Every genuine is a little crazy to the average person. They go hand and hand.
Not behind closed doors
@@uncleclem7381 so are we all
marlon interviews and views are as entertaining as his movies.
He was so real, so authentic in life and acting; I do not think that he differentiated between the two as he adroitly said to Connie Chung that we are all actors in real life. He is right. Rest easy, Marlon. ❤
I could listen to this man all day
This is one of my favorite interviews of marlon!! I miss him so much 😭
A true legend. Love you Marlon Brando....💝
If you look up the word Charisma in the dictionary you'll find Marlon Brando's photograph. Can't take your eyes off him ever.
I love how he never went crazy. Always chill
+Mathias Rask So far from the truth, he never was chill. But he was one of the best actors of all time.
+Mathias Rask He was batshit insane.
Lmao, he was 'chill' in his own way, but I get what you're saying he was super humble and resented the fame. He gave no fucks in a lot of ways, and I admire Marlon for him just being himself unapologetically.
lol .. maybe you should whatch more interviews ... and especially one which wasn't filmed but only photographed, when Marlon himself had only two questions, one having been: _“Which one is Galella?”_ , the infamous paparazzo, asking it Dick Cavett who accompanied Marlon back then after Cavett's show. Cavett: _“The tall one.”_
Brando called Galella over and asked a second question, now to Galella: _“What else do you want?”_ When Galella asked Brando it would be nice to get a shot without his sun glasses (it was night time) he got sucker-punched by Brando and found himself in a hospital with a broken jaw and five(!) teeth knocked out. End of interview. :))
(although there's a little more behind Brando's reaction in 1973, regarding a Jackie Kennedy trial)

Yes, he's as cool as a cucumber. Until he's not anymore. Then you'd better run. Galella wore a football helmet ever since when meeting Marlon Brando... Nyahaha!
He hated the industry but loved the work
He looks incredible here, even sexier than when he was young. How old was he here?

Eric-Scott Bloom 😅
This is less awkward than that Cavett interview. Cavett seems scared and intimidated by him. Where this interviewer is more relaxed and has it together.
Best Marlon clip ever: thoughtful, articulate, and Utterly charming. 😍
+Elaine Diamond I don't think he made a single coherent statement.
+tcorourke2007 I don't think you know how to think, obviously
no nameneeded
Ad hominem. You are making an attack on me, not what I am saying.
tcorourke2007 Oh my, I am very, or should I say, deeply sorry to you, Sir. But you are not right. You are making an "attack" on Mr.Brando for no reason at all. He was a very intelligent man with very special view on this world and I must say, everything he said was and still is very true. So, no hard feelings, but I have to pick Mr.Brando's side. You have every right to have your own opinion, but I think that you're very, very wrong.
I said that his statements were not coherent. Ad hominem would be me saying he "doesn't know how to think". He was a fantastic actor, which is the only reason people like you pay any attention to his nonsensical ramblings.

this is prophetic.! he perfectly paints the picture of the times we're entering.. radicalism and closed mindedness....
Bigger than life.
I actually agree with many people that Kurtz was one of the most iconic roles in cinema, and Brando himself said that playing Kurtz was the closest he ever got to getting lost in a part. I think he followed like many actors do, DeNiro, Hoffman, Nicholson etc. They do the epic, gritty, hard-work roles in their youth, but as they get older and want to settle down with family they prefer to spend less time working and just make some easy money. Can't blame them, they've made their mark
Absolutely charming
"Am I bothering your focus by rocking back and forth?" Right before he asked the cameraman that question I was thinking to myself, "why is he rocking back and forth like that?" LOL!
LOL! That's funny
Never seen Marlon Brando so chilled out and relaxed and likeable. There was always this tense feeling about him in all the videos I saw. In this one, he's so funny and nice! Love this interview!
he was stoned :)
thats that magnetism for you
2:50 Big smile😭😭
"Oh there was coffee in there. I wasted it." quality
The greatest to ever do it.
in American cinema
Very smart and handsome
Marlon Brando is a legend
Will always be the greatest,
Unsettling how prophetic he is in this. He saw the writing on the wall for sure. I can only imagine how disturbing he'd find the current state of the world.
Mr. Brando was very handsome!
Marlon Brando Was SO AHEAD of His Time IN SO Many Ways. What HE SAID Then IS Still Relevant Now. RIP Marlon Brando, You Are Very Missed.
He truley had the wisdom of Don Corleone
...and an awesome human been. He has a great heart.
HE was a man and he did all things His way,he was authentic and he gave a damn, what people thought about him! He once said to his long time friend:"let,s be naked to one another!" And this is exactly, what he did until his last breath.Thank you Marlon Brando!
I wish I had met him, as Vito, Sky and Stanley! Himself, mostly.
Love you Marlon , you gave Johnny Depp lots good advise ,he is following your path. Love you both to the end of the moon and back to earth.
sakinehbs Then he beat his wife
Johnny Depp is a creep imo

I love his smile
I understood and memorizd everything he said.
Marlon Brando has the most gorgeous smile, among other things. He's DEFINITELY the most gorgeous guy I've ever seen, bar none‼️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Aktor charyzmatyczny, genialny, jedyny taki w historii kina- Nr 1 ... nieziemsko przystojny 💪
"We don't have that much time now, the population is exponential. ... to be playing games with this tool now." Wow, prophetic. amazing
+joshua lutz He clearly thought the end was neigh. 40 years later and we're still here. How is that "prophetic"?
Around 3;30 he starts to talk about how political correctness keeping us from communicating properly and how when that takes control we will all be in a lot of trouble.
tcorourke2007 he's full of shit but he looks cool doing it. I noticed the same thing.
That's awesome! Wow! I miss Marlon. :(
Love this thanks
Godfather was filmed in 1970 and this was 73. The weight gain was incredible.
I love him
Even off screen , he had a presence,
Brando is forever Brando !!!
Even in his interview,he always be in attitude,bt that’s style one of the greatest actor
Mr. Brandon was and is an Icon. He was intelligent and spoke the truth, with courage. On top of that, he was a helluva good actor.
Greatest actor of all time
the "long in the tooth" monologue would be a marvelous "slow zoom" opening for a movie about an apocalyptic dystopia caused by social media
after seeing burn.i seriously think that was his most passionate.most compelling performance.Unified truth is /was brando's method for discovering a characters.after all those characters despite being fictious are still people .human beings
''Coffee in that, I wasted it'' lol
Love listening to his philosophy...I guess his acting was from his conviction what he believed in.
I find your points really interesting. I love Barry Lyndon also.
Because they say and do what others don't and can't and that's very respectable.
haha marlon throws a cup of coffee at the interviewer and his first concern is that he wasted the coffee! - one of the million reasons why i love this guy
Jesus. He was right. I wish people had really listened!
Nicely written, and I agree. There are still a few greats out there today Gary Oldman, Daniel-Day Lewis, but generally Hollywood has become such a business of celebrity culture that acting quality is pushed aside for the easy-sell, where everything is a remake or an adaptation of childrens/young teens books.
Best actor and one of the most best Man in human race.
Is a Briliant Actor..
I love Marlon Brando and Johnny Cash America
casual mcluhan name drop was impressive
Wow I didn't know Marlon was so deep. He even referenced Marshall McLuhan.
Despite my comments about his acting, I always liked the bastard though. He
would have been fun to be around, when he was just himself. Even half of those
moments he apparently felt it necessary to be putting you on. Very strange, sad guy. And jeez, look at all those kids and what happened. Good ole Marlon.
you nailed it on the head.i feel this the main reason that makes him great.his connectedness to people .he brought the human element the spiritual element to acting .its aggravating when newer actors are compared to him.Like this Tom hardy guy .people are calling him the new brando.why is beyond me i don't understand it at all this footage should be viewed by every aspiring actor .as he said acting is just the surface of a person you got to go deeper.i'll bet he got into alot of spirtualism
marlon speaking some truth here.break format.the future is here
Amen
brando , dont you just love him
"He came in the back door"
I bet he fucking did 😃😃
Lol. Marlon Brando explaining exponential.
My gid he really could sink you into any kind of conversation about anything
Sometimes it's because an actor seems to reveal something about real people from your own memories. At that moment, they don't seem to be acting. You wonder how they did it. Brando came out of the social realist school and the Actors Studio learning how to use his own experiences-often suppressed anger which he then released. Also how to use props in a way that held your attention. His unique, revolutionary style made him a star. Other stars are fashionable male or female ideals for their time.
malron brando quotes marshall macluhan. doesn't get any better than that!
Omg so handsome 😍
"We've gotta hear from everybody"
Good news Marlon (RIP)! We have the internet.
Okay, my schpiel...Please look at the Marlon Brando Interview 1973 (parts 1 to 6, particularly the latter half). They is at least one in the right hand "related videos" bar and can be found via search.
Hardly ineffectual, the Don!
"While filming, Bernardo Bertolucci tried to explain the point of the film to Marlon Brando, suggesting that his character was Bertolucci's "manhood" and that Maria Schneider's character was his "dream girl". Brando later maintained that he had absolutely no idea of what Bertolucci was suggesting or even talking about. "
yeah .the thing with brando that ive come to understand is practice transcendance in his roles ..i think it got to the point where he even transcended acting in itself
fero,
Check Dick Cavett's Marlon interview. He is 49 years in that, and looks quite same like here.
He had the guts,to speak the truth, which could of destroyed him in the business
he was invulnerable in the film business. nothing he said could kill his career i don't think i could say that about any body else on the planet which truly makes him the best.
+Nads He was payed only $50,000 for his role as Don Corleone. He also received percentages of gross sales which would have totaled $11 million... if he hadn't sold them for $100,000 being desperate for cash. The president of Paramount did not want to hire him, nor did any other major studio, he had a horrible reputation for difficulty which was well deserved. He was not at all "invulnerable in the film business".
The difference is that many have come and gone in this profession & nobody gives a rats ass about them. Marlon, on the other hand, is still being discussed in the same breathe with some of the greatest actors the celluloid industry has ever seen. I would agree with Dana, he was invulnerable.
@@r8rdarklord too fuckinh right mate
They don’t have to kill your career, they can kill your family members instead
I'm in LOVE with him :)
one thing im begining to learn is that artists create actors make its almost as if the artist. Is what you get when you transcend the acting ,and artist is creative and passionate. They have a deep burning desire to express themselves and they are their own individuals .They aren't afraid to stand alone they are innovating .I feel artist these days is thrown around so loosely like a wet rag.Brando was a artist it shows in his unconvential methods of work .
Agreed
MARLON RULES
thank you so much for that
he hated interviews
i really wish Mr. Brando is my mentor or teacher in acting
"He came in the back door " I bet he did.
That's brilliant that he's talking about exponential population growth. He knew we didn't have much time. It's now commonly recognized by experts that we have already reached peak world oil production. Marlon, you got off easy.
OH WOW, HE WAS ONE OF THE 1% OF ACTORS WHO WERE REAL WITH THEMSELVES AND THEIR PUBLIC. A COMPLETE ICON.
He would have been a great math/economics professor!
Thats a good piece of advice over there, there's gotta be some dialog. can't be an individual blabbering his mouth off, disagreement must lead to a conversation if not an argument. sadly we're already in a lota trouble. Marlon is the complete package.
Another genius
Mesmer's animal magnetism theory -energy flowing through channels in the body. '...One of the branches of Animal Magnetism that rose after Mesmer was called the branch of the "Imaginationists" that put importance on the power of the "imagination". Abbe Faria, an Indo-Portuguese monk in Paris, emphasized that... everything comes from the subject and takes place in his imagination i.e., autosuggestion generated from within the mind”. Brando said the audience does the acting if they like the story.
*Hollywood uses & abuses the actors Marlon Brando recognized this and wanted to flip the script. They complained about him but CONTINUED & begged him to be in their films.*
Interesting question, man.
Quickly thinking about your question - i think people just watch these actors in movies, sharing and telling their "story". > People connect emotionally to stories and heroes> but instead of leaving that within the movie itself> People recall an actor like Brando as T-he actual hero, T-he guy from that amazingly touching story!
=So, that's why people adore actors so much,in my opinion.
If politicians would tell amazing stories, maybe they'd be ador-able.but theyre not
abeautiful man ,young or old..
we don't worship them, we respect them. We respect their talent. Brando along with Olivier and others of their time gave actors their freedom. Revolutionized the craft. They where the best at what they did and had so much respect for acting... so if your not going to RESPECT him then you dont know acting.
after tango he felt violated he felt intruded on ,theres a brando quote on imdb where he says that he never understood what the director of last tango was trying to convey with the movie.Maybe its for this reason of lack of understanding that he withdrew he became more technical .That shows me he truly had a passion before hand for acting .Marlon's acting before hand came from his imagination he didnt make it about himself . The director of last tango was about revealing the actors soul
ok great ill check them all out .im particular interested in the eddie coyle one mainly because it was set in boston where im from..what made him better then brando?.in your eyes?
He predicted social media.
Nobody could ever get Marlon to sit down and talk seriously about his process when it came to the genius of his acting It was either he didn't understand it or rather didn't care to understand it or maybe he knew (and probably enjoyed) driving people crazy by acting like there was no process and all of it meant nothing OR maybe he didn't feel it was a subject worthy of being discussed seeing as how he's shared on more than one occasion a certain amout of loathing for the whole craft. Who knows?
They should show this clip in diversity trainings, discussions in business schools, corporate world. Marlon figured how diversity of opinion is important way before business gurus of today.
