CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Nick Wells (Robert De Niro) and Max (Marlon Brando) negotiate a deal.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Three generations of method acting giants unite for this crime thriller written by Kario Salem and directed by Frank Oz. Robert De Niro stars as Nick Wells, an aging thief whose specialty is safecracking and who is on the verge of retiring to a life of ease, running his jazz club and romancing his girlfriend Diane (Angela Bassett). But before he can ride off into the sunset, Nick is pressured to do one last job by his mentor and business partner, a flamboyant and extravagant upscale fence named Max (Marlon Brando). Max is plotting the heist of the Montreal Customs House, and he's got a man on the inside, Jackie Teller (Edward Norton), a talented but volatile crook who has managed to ingratiate himself with the facility's staff as a fellow employee suffering from cerebral palsy. Jackie bristles at Nick's interference in "his" score, however, and threatens violence when it seems he's going to be cut out of the action. In the meantime, Nick grows increasingly ill at ease about the operation, as it violates his two most important dictums in thievery: always work alone and never pull a job in your own city. The part of Max in The Score was written specifically for Brando by screenwriter Salem, although the improvisational star and his director Oz reportedly clashed during filming.

When the Godfather meets the Godfather.

Exactly! 😂
They are the same person 20 years apart right :D
Yeah, in a movie directed by Kermit The Frog (aka Frank Oz).
I see what you did there. Smart 😅
Vito Corleone talking to himself! lol
I'm talkin to me?
you're a sweetheart.

Can you imagine the chills being on set with the young and old Vito. Two icons!!

I use this all the time
Even in his old age he just exemplifies cool.
This is the only movie to star both Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando, the first actors ever to both win Academy Awards for playing the same role, that of Vito Corleone in the The Godfather 1972 and The Godfather: Part II 1974
Have to appreciate it especially since it was Brando’s last movie. De Niro did make movies with other golden age actors like Robert Mitchum, Tony Curtis, Gregory Peck, Burt Lancaster and Jeanne Moreau.
@@DMallthewayand Dustin Hoffman
@@crazypato3752 He isn’t a golden age actor, he came out in the late 60s. Golden age is 1950s.
With all respect to De Nero, But Brando's acting is on another level.
The crazy thing is, he’s not even trying
He improvises every scene it’s awesome when you watch different takes he never reads the same lines
There's no doubt Brando,De Niro,Pacino.
The three Greatest Actors Ever!!!!!!!
Add Jack Nicholson
greatest has to be one, Robert ftw
Andrea Pompei and John Cazele!
Andrea Pompei how dare you forget Jack Nicholson YOU MONSTER!!😠
Andrea Pompei
Pacino
The rest is conversation.
Two great actors working well together.
RIP Marlon Brando (April 3, 1924 - July 1, 2004), aged 80
You will be remembered as a legend.
Yeaaaa
Marlon should have made a movie every year esp 50-60's. I love all of his 50's movies.
🌹🌹🌹
I'm a huge Daniel Day Lewis fan and I love his intense preparation for each role, but what makes Brando so special is that he just does it so naturally and it's the little subtle things that he does that make his characters so believable. Making a simple gesture, movement, or expression to mimic what all of us do in life is what Brando does best and that is what separates him from everyone else as an actor.
Yes.. well I see Brando the first thing is I observe is his prescience which is very unique thing in itself. Then hes so natural and unforced it feels like there is no acting just things happening in real time. Then when acts as characters he does do much but the subtle things are amazing. Brando can be small in scene or very isolating or can be very raw and emotional.
Most of the time they just play themselves
Brando seems more natural because he’d have an ear piece during the scene and was fed his lines so that it’d seem more spontaneous instead of rehearsed
@@rossdiamondthief6627 That speaks to his talent. A guy that could be so natural in front of a camera that he could repeat words just placed in his ear and make a good take of it
This movie was awful and it's obviously just a cash grab for Brando
It is said that Brando only acted to play the bills. I salute you Mr. Brando, because as you paid your bills, you gave the movie going audience some of the best films ever made: On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, and The Godfather.
He actually despised being an actor
So did de niro pacino and many other actors most do it for money
Two Vito Corleones face to face. Epic.
I'm glad this legend made it to the next millennium, there will never be such a iconic artist that rebelled against the expectations of motion pictures.
I love these two artists. Period.
De - Niro said in an interview for The Irishman that Brando improvised the whole scene.
TheKoderius link?
Cause he never bothered to learn his lines lol
If you watch the different takes of this scene, you notice Brando improvises all over the place every time and never reads the same lines. Whereas De Niro sticks to the script.
One of my favorite scenes with Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro.
The casual setting with calm spot on acting was a perfect blend!
They both won an Oscar for the same role.
I think he improv'ed the bottle-as-a-phone part.
Brando?
1:06 What do you think? You improved the scene,Marlon.
I think most of their scenes together were somewhat improvised.
Yeah, he didn't repeat it in other takes.
@Ad Max Do you know why Brando was not speaking with director Frank Oz? How could anyone be mad at the voice of Yoda and Fozzie Bear?
The two best actors of the history.
only brando can flip the finger on de niro... ¡¡¡no one else¡¡¡¡
right, that right. only he can flip finger on GOD.
Joe Pesci
Brando overshadows DeNiro.
@Lawrence L. Yeah I think he's overrated also.
Brando is very magnetic. De Niro is an excellent actor, but Brando was simply far more charismatic. Whoever is the best actor in history, I leave to subjectivity. IMO it was Laurence Olivier...
Lawrence L. Brando Revolutize how acting is done
Watch A Streetcar Named Desire got proof
Wimble Don
Olivier? Not really
@Lawrence L. you confuse the actor and story. But also if you think art is about being skinny and talking properly you should limit your experiences to entertainment, maybe u get appealed by fashion happenings and tv news... how sad your life must be
"When the pigs eat my brother", I don't have a brother, but I want to use that line one day.
Thats the point
“Operator” LMAO
🤘
You can just tell that Deniro is in awe of Brando
Marlon Brando was just so natural on screen.
Yes agree, the cough at beginning, the relaxed movements, remarkable.
DE NIRO TAKING A FEW ACTING LESSONS FROM A MASTER.
De Niro is way better than Brando
When i see clips like these it makes me realize why the editing award at the academys is even a thing.
This is cut from three, four maybe five different takes all seemlessly and naturally without missing sense of tone, beat and context.
Effing brilliant, Mr. Brando and Mr. De Niro and the editor.
De Niro is as old now as Brando was when he did this movie
1:30 The finger jajaja and the smile of Robert.
We will miss you Mr Brando
Even Bob got caught off guard by Brando's improvisation
Excellent scene. Brando was a genius
Yes the and they improved it and the improv is on UA-cam as well and most of the variations brando did worked
1:27 "I like your style.." that was Brando complimenting DeNiro's improv skills
Marlon Brando really possesses a unique charisma. This could be the first time de Niro is outperformed.
almustansiriya al Pacino out performed him at heat
@@ChrisRp1208 noo.. I thought weee pretty even keeled. Al just glides a little extra and it works it's part his style. If you noticed Deniro is very calculated in his performance in heat and it works
@@haloed-hero thats your opinion o think al outperformed him also in the the irishman but who knows. Pacino and brando are better in my opinon
@@ChrisRp1208 yes Al probably did outperform Deniro in the Irishman. I would say in my opinion Robert is more of a chameleon than Al is. Robert is a little more subtle but Al is can really bring a scene home with raw emotion and depth. Robert had more of this style in his younger days, ragin bull, taxi.
ummm... Goodfellas comes to mind
The legendary Marlon Brando. Long live the king!
Marlon Brando was so good at reading his lines during scenes.
lmao
Brando did this improvising and was absolutely lovable and brilliant.
Two of the most essential actors together in a movie !!
When brando turns that bottle into a telephone , Deniro tries really hard not to laugh.
OMG Brando, his presence that charisma stands out even with the smallest of line and role
That "operator" and "eat my brother" are improv by Brando.
But Frank Oz got pissed off during this point.
Maradona is the greatest. And so is De Niro.
Operator, I got a nut down here....send the paramedic. Lol. You can tell Deniro thought that was funny
Could`nt keep a straight face. :)
Brando's chuckle had to be genuine too, but he saved it and stayed in character
0:56 BRANDO misses the old Phone🤣🤣
Damn Marlon Brando is unrecognizable
two master of their craft...
"OPERATOR"🤣♾️.
Old Vito meets Young Vito, amazing
As great as de Niro is, I can't imagine him playing the Brando role here as well as Brando does when de Niro reaches his age.
u are so wrong
jessc1979 I actually always thought that Deniro would've better old Vito Corleone than Brando. I was never too high on Brando especially after the colossal weight gain.
I think he’d be pretty good tbh.
Hed be pretty good but I think Brando is more fluid at the Quick witted, Improvisation. Point being Brando would probably be more effective in this particular kind of role than deniro
Diy & Chill w/ Chris Sims Never doubt an invested De Niro. He can be pretty good with the fast-paced humor, like in The King of Comedy.
Vito meets his younger self
I came here to just watch them together, two greatest actor in the world ♥️♥️💖
You can tell DeNiro admires Brando.
“Well ok… hope she’s worth it” said a man with experience
Yes indeed
Vito and Vito did great in this scene
XD
I'd be like "that's your bottle now" He coughs before opening it, and then blows his voice right into that bad boy!
drunk Vito Corleone talking to his younger self in imaginations
The 2 best actors of all time. This scene was totally improvisation on Brandos end
Brando is such a versatile actor, I never knew he was this funny
the most epic scene in the history of cinema
I find fantastic to see the master and his student speak each other just like how Brando and De Niro do it on a set. Furthermore, Marlon was the father figure from many actors such as, De Niro and especially, Al Pacino who worked with Brando in the movie "The Godfather".
The only person in the world to outmatch Robert De Niro.
besides Al Pacino
Don Corleone conoce a Don Corleone xD
Marlon Brando still teaching Robert De Niro how it's done... De Niro couldn't have touched the worst of Brando on his best days...
1954 was a long time ago. My legend ballooned up. Terry Malloy was my hero.
Even the greats today don’t touch Brando even in his lesser films
This movie was Brando's last film. The second half of his career wasn't much better, but still he was one of the best actors ever.
He surprises DeNiro. You can literally see RDN chuckling when he says Operator - and then he says Pigs eat my brother - what that tells you is - Brando was inventing and staying in character and DeNiro was reacting in the moment - it’s called Behaving and shows why Brando was GOAT
I come from the other parallel universe, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Daniel Day-Lewis and River Phoenix are the best actors of all time.
Do not forget Denzel Washington
Brando speaks perfectly here. Makes me think he put on a lot of the other stuff
I wish there would be a movie where Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix in the same scene together...
Hmmm interesting scene 1:51
"I always pay you what's right!"
"You think you pay me whats right. But I know what you pay me. And its not always right. "
"Let me tell you the story of Michael Fenelli-DA REAL... Michael Fenelli...."
Vito meets vito ❤
Vito Corleone meet Vito Corleone Young.
I love every frame of this film.
When Vito meets Vito 🤣
The only reason to watch this movie is to see Brando in his last role
Yea, Roberts great but it's kindve monotone not to compare but Brandos presence, charisma, imptov shine. I will mention Edward Norton is interesting to watch somewhat unpredictable, electric
Young Vito Corleine and Old Vito Corleone
Just how natural Brando is in this scene...
De Niro does this exact scene almost word for word in Midnight Run
In an alternate reality, young Vito Corleone meets his future self.
Vito and Vito talking
The old marlon brando in this movie looks like my grand father.....my grand mother said to me he was very handsome when he was young and now i realize it
Brando: I'll make you an offer you can't refuse.
De Niro: I'll make you an offer you can't refuse.
-Stares at each other-
-Then they laugh-
No doubt that Robert De Niro is a fine actor -- one of the best of all time. But to say that he's better than Brando is blasphemous. De Niro putting on his best Brando impersonation as Vito Corleone is the reason he won his first Best Actor award at the Oscars! Again, De Niro is one of the all-time greats, but Brando is KING.
Ernie Reyes
Relax. Both are legends and the greatest actor ever. De Niro, Brando and Laurence Olivier are the greatest 3 of all time!
Don Vito in a paradox great Scott!
¡grande RDN¡
When two giant meet
Great film!
1:26 Yeah, that`s what any method actor would say in a random way as I`ve just learnt so much about Brando no matter how great he is.
The operator line is so funny
Did they improve this whole scene with a 3 camera set up? Cause if so that's really impressive
They did. Great day.
@@boxofmoles4057 you were there?
When Vito Andolini used a DeLorean to travel to the past...
Last Brando film
0:57 No matter how great Brando is, I feel that we`ve gotten used to him coming up with his own things for his scenes but it sometimes pisses the director off.
Deniro, the jake lamotta travis bickle, jimmy conway, al capone, is kooking like just another junior artist in this scene with the goat brando. Only pacino stood upto brando on screen l, nobody else
Lol. Not even close...
no, there's one other person who can.....Pacino!!!
what a joke
Aman gtfo of the niro’s butt he is good not the greatest Pacino is at his level he just didn’t had Martin Scorsese in every movie

Check out the Edward Norton interview on David Letterman regarding this scene, pretty darn funny.
