you probably dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all the latest series on Instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my brother these days :)
I have one of those (but larger) in nice shape filled with 3/4" drive sockets and head. I also have a double stack vintage rolling tool box/s on wheels. I have mostly all vintage Snap-on tools from around the 1950's - 1960's possibly some early 70's along with vintage Proto, vintage MAC, etc. but mostly Snap-on. Thousands of pieces from standard to metric, wrenches, to sockets, to ratchets to all kinds. From tiny to large for Trucks. These were from a family member who was a professional mechanic. Estimated about $80,000 worth several years ago (probably more now). Looking to sell them all for about half that amount. All were Made in the U.S.A. years ago when tools had the best metallurgy possible.
I once got a set in a box just like that as a gift (25 years ago) from a friend who was a Snap-On dealer. I still have the beat up box, the ratchet and maybe 5 of the sockets...probably do have the rest, just haven't found or seen them in the last decade...they may be somewhere in the house. It was a great set, but I don't think I would have bought it for myself. Snap-On is sooo expensive, I totally understand getting the Craftsman set for it, those are great tools as well, without it costing so much. Great restoration videos, this box looks really good. Looked like a real pain getting that hinge pin out and in, I would have destroyed that thing in all likelihood.
Beautiful job! Although this being a small box, I can see that it took you a lot of time and effort to get the metal straightened and prepared for powder coating. I enjoyed seeing what product you were spraying onto the box (Pre Painting Prep) before powder coating. I won't ever do this type of work as I live in an apartment, but it is fascinating to watch someone else doing the work, as well as seeing the tools and equipment that you use. Your videos are both enjoyable and educational, and the finished products are fantastic 👍 Thank you for sharing your hobby. Excellent video as always ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Andrew Runnels Yes, you are right! I was sad yesterday night that because of one dollar I missed out a bid on Ebay, a vintage whole set of Snap-on tool box including 1/4” sockets and wrench.
nice toolbox restoration. Consider cutting some kaizen foam inserts to organize and lay the ratchet and sockets in so they don't slide around ,and scratch up the powdercoat. Unless you are just going for the nostalgic but restored as new look.
Nice work. I found an old Snap On KR Tool Box at the metal recycling dumpster a few weeks ago. Just started doing the outside; no powder coating equipment, just the rattle can.
Use paint stripper before sandblasting as you get much better results. I personally would have been tempted to highlight in white the lettering (and put Snap on tools inside instead of Craftsman)
Inresting video but I have to ask why did you partly sandblast it and then use emery cloth, this seems to defeat the idea of a sandblaster that would get into the small rust pits.
I have so many of these small box’s 😅. I can’t say no when I find them at swap meets and I’m good to buy 3-5 year. Plus eBay sets. I’d love to restore a few when I’ve got time but I feel like I’ll end up just paying someone else to do it
Fantastic craftsmanship in your restorations. Love 'em! We really need to reach out to you, please? Can you provide a means of being able to do so? Dad has a b'day coming up, 88 yrs. young, and us 4 kids of his want to surprise him with something only your caliber of craftsmanship can provide. Please. Thanks truly x 100 :)
neat little box, fun restoration. Thanks!

Reinstalling that hinge pin looked extremely painful. Great vid! Love the transformation

Thank you!👍
Awesome restoration, but I could’ve gone without seeing the craftsman put in the snap on box

That’s great! I am looking for your Snap-on box restoration video

Like it better before
