    The first minute and a half is my favorite part. I run a colt carbine platform. I know a lot of people who will tell me there are a thousand better rifles, but I spent 4 years in the infantry running a colt m4. I know the weight, I know the feel, I know the function of it. Comfort with a rifle is reliability with a rifle. Solid video, and that’s a cool platform your running man, just discovered your channel and love the content.

The 30-30 has been around since the 1800's and it was my first rifle. I don't have a huge clollection of firearms but I've been hunting with my friends .308. Thanks.@@honkhogan21M

      A year or two ago I passed on the chance to buy a great looking Colt SP-1 (original everything and the beat up original box with matching serial number) listed for $1200 sticker at a gun shop a couple towns over that I spotted online 🤦‍♂️ It was my busy season and by the time I remembered a few weeks later the listing was marked sold 🤦‍♂️ I'm sure I could've taken it home for atleast $100 less by buying in person in exchange for only a nice hour long round trip drive through some country backroads... I still can't believe I dropped the ball on that one! 😄 I'm happy that you still have yours though!

    The most important thing is Loctite. When I was a new I put a picatinny rail on the bottom Mlok rail to mount a flashlight. During a class, we did a mag dump drill. During which, my picatinny rail came loose and dangled barely hung on by one screw. Of course the instructor saw it and humiliated me in front of the whole class. I was super embarrassed and didn't know what to say. I've never made that mistake again haha.

    I am in the process of setting up my new SOLGW (Sons of Liberty Gun Works) 16" barrel M4 Legacy 5.56 MILSPEC furniture FSB (Forged Front Sight Base) with LFT (Liberty Fighting Trigger.) So far I bought the Magpul R44 hard case so I can take it to the range since I do not have a large enough plot of land in the suburbs where I live to go shooting on. I installed a Magpul MOE M-LOK handguard, AFG (angled fore grip,) MS-1 padded sling and hardware, injection molded polymer bipod as well. I am not familiar with weapon lights and optics enough to pick them yet so I am researching those. I have been working my way through Mrgunsngear content among others and found your channel. @@03stmlax S&W m&p Sport 2, Sig Romeo 5 red dot (find them on sale), any 2 point adjustable sling you want (look for sales), some cheap Magpul MBUIS sights and 3 to 4 Magpul gen2 window mags (find them on sale). Great setup and would definitely trust my life with it. You don’t need Gucci gear, just stuff that’s been tested and proven to work. And if you’re worried about being looked down on for a simple setup don’t be. The price might be cheap but the equipment’s function and durability are not, you won’t be laughed at in a class. It’s a solid setup. I have plenty, some are home builds and others are factory (not including optics) and I’ve used them in different classes. I’ve only been out classed in skills not because of the tools. Get it and train, a lot, as much as you can. Start at a flat range, learn your technique, trigger discipline, zeroing, safety and do a lot of basic dry fire drills and “empty” mag change drills. You get better over time and massively repetitiveness with the basics. Don’t rush into trying to be some CQB expert lol. Most importantly, have fun and get some of your friends involved. Save the extra money for ammunition, lots of it. I’d rather have a good, dependable setup and lots of ammo than have a $3000 lead spitter and a pocket full of shells.

    I've always wondered how the seals dive with these rifles and it doesn't affect the rifle, ammo, or it's ability to still fire afterwards? I always thought if ammo got wet it would affect the cartridge and powder and in turn it wouldn't fire. The electronic sights, flashlights etc are another thing I've wondered about to while diving? Most people assume water and electronics don't mix well.

    • @fredmeebley
      @fredmeebley Рік тому +1

      This is why nato ammo has sealer on the primers. Keeps water from contaminating the powder charge and primer compound. I wasn’t in the Seals, but imagine they can afford waterproof electronics.

      @fredmeebley Yes, I'm sure they've got it figured out they spend a lot of time and money training and prepping for this kinda stuff I'd imagine. The government spends a lot on fuel and other stuff to send the aircraft up for just routine training, so I'd imagine it's something similar here with the seals and this scenario.

    Just seems like flip up offset sights might add a little extra time in the event your red dot goes down at a bad time. With a red dot or holographic, I prefer flip ups up top. Also can use a magnifier because my eyes are a little old. In the event of no more batteries, I'd much rather have irons up top. Thinking of building a 11.5" with an Elcan 1-4 with an offset RMR.

    Ya, I watched the GBRS sling presentation. That’s a big game changer.
    In the regular Army INF , we started with no sling. It’s both hands on your weapon at all times. Then when assigned to string constantine wire, you’d work with one hand. Guys would forget and walk off about 10 feet from a their weapon. The machine guns, on road marches with no sling. Eh. That lasted for about 3 months, at my first duty station. Same with night vision.

What are your thoughts on crane upgrading all the mk18’s to an 11.5 barrel for the increased velocity and dwell time? It's a fine choice......10.3" or the current 10.5" is your effective ballistic minimum barrel length for .556.
      Any options above that are just a personal choice that raise the bar.
      A 10.3" with a can is the lightest, shortest, effective ballistic minimum!
      Without a can the flash signature is unmanageable for any device. A QUALITY QD on the can makes this platform the most adaptive.

    Why do you keep calling your AR pistol an SBR? Are you trying to get the alphabits to raid your place or do you have it registered and if you do what is the benefit of having a pistol brace over having a stock? From what I have seen braces are too flexible to have any real benefit.

    • @bcj575
      @bcj575 8 місяців тому

      Bc i think it is an SBR, not a pistol. DD Mk18 is an auto sbr

    • @mikebabb2155
      @mikebabb2155 8 місяців тому

      @@bcj575 if that was the case it would have a stock not a pistol brace. Also while it might be a Daniel Defense product it is extremely unlikely that it is a select fire DD MK18 because Daniel Defense started in 2001 making it 15 years too late to be a transferable machine gun and the only way for him to buy one would be if he had a special dealer permit with a bunch of paperwork. Of course if he has a special manufacturer permit which allows him to convert a semi auto rifle or pistol into a machine gun that would cover it but again it requires a lot of money and a lot of paperwork. That then brings back up the question of why use a pistol brace on a rifle. Now if he is waiting for the registration to come back before putting a stock on it I understand otherwise it does not make sense. However he could just be purposely poking a proverbial hornets nest by calling the pistol an sbr. Keep in mind that I fully believe that the government should not be able to have a say and it should not matter because "Shall not be infringed" means exactly that not big brother can limit our rights as long as they come up with a random bs excuse. I would also like to point out that when I asked about it a year ago I realized that whether or not it was registered is none of my business but I was curious what possible benefits the pistol brace provided from a Navy Seal point of view when I as a civilian have found them to be pointless when compared to a stock.

    Excellent clip Chad…big fan of DD, great barrel and BCG and those are the two more important components on any rifle..bolt (action) or gas.. IMHO, Steiner makes a reflex sight, and it’s a TANK, as I still use Steiner products..iron sights it’s Midwest industries or KA..as for slings, too each is whom, I’ve dragged heavy bolt rifles from AI to SAKO and with the proper sling you can forget it’s on your back at times..and it’s why I’m a huge fan of Armageddon gear or Blue Force battle sling..Warrior Poet Society makes a good sling , it’s what I’ve heard. What I’m not a fan of is the single point attachment , in a real world ZOMBIE ATTACK where moving fast is crucial for survival it will restrict your movement and transition, but it looks cool with your buddies at the range…just saying
