Good afternoon,Glad you made it through the storm. Worth The Risk..........I paid 95 quid for my 5kw Chinese heater and fitted it to my homemade Campervan (2017 Mercedes Sprinter 314).I don't see a risk ,I went to the North Cape of Norway area for a month in winter and I survived -30 deg and mountains of snow.Just make sure the diesel pump is mounted out of ear range they make a racket .Whilst in Northern Norway for the month in winter I ran mine 24 hours a day I still had ice forming in the footwell of the side loading door.I can guarantee however that cheap Chinese diesel heater kept me alive.I used the diesel container that came with the heater on hindsight I should have plumbed into the main vehicle diesel tank.Looking at the size of your fantastic bus I see you have fitted one at the front I would fit another one closer to the rear...for what they cost to buy why not.
Wow, yes I would say a diesel heater is a must if you’re venturing to Norway in the winter, not something we will ever do as we are warmer weather people lol, old bones don’t like the cold and definitely don’t like the damp haha. It’s definitely worth keeping in mind about the option to fit one in the rear but we do like a cold bedroom anyway, always have, if it’s warm in there we struggle to sleep so probably won’t bother. I’ll no doubt be updating on the heater when we actually get one sorted, fingers crossed 🤞
Had the Autoterm fitted in Wrexham last April...fantastic piece of kit ..and.proper toastie..u won't regret having a more better quality heater.👍👍🏴🏴
Hi Scott I am glad you have decided to go with the Diesel heater and glad you have decided to go with a quality heater rather than the cheap Chinese version. Great content and vlog love this type of vlog cheers Kurt
Had a Chinese diesel in our 5th wheel since 2018, and has never let us down, it all depends on which one you purchase and how it is installed and setup. Even have one at home mounted outside in a aluminium box, during the winter it runs 24/7 again never have any issues. I do have the advantage of being a diesel engineer, so can get waste diesel quite easily 😊
Chinese diesel heaters are just the best thing , I have one in my landy and its been in for 6 years now . I also have one heating the kitchen 24/7 all year . Sits outside in all weathers and blows hot air indoors . I also have one heating the dogs kennel in winter and one heating the greenhouse with the small biodigester in it to keep it digesting . I use kero (heating oil ) and they all burn clean . Spare parts are cheap and a doddle to fit .Keep a spare heater for an emergency .
Yes I’ve heard loads of good things about the Chinese heaters, it just put me off when we couldn’t get it to work at all 😬🤦♂️ We’re looking forward to getting ours fitted now as we plan to be off grid for a couple of weeks soon and don’t want to use the gas as it really uses a lot. 👍
Personally,, I’d want to revamp that van completely. It’s wayyyyy too dark for me but that’s personal preference. I understand that everyone isn’t like me and acutely like all the wood. I’d sand over the wood,, then coat with a good adhesive primer,,, then paint in water based satin or eggshell I used to renovate furniture for a living and believe me,,, once done properly, it lasts xx
We have a chinese diesel heater, we keep a record of the fuel we purchase and use in a spreadsheet, we have put 700l of fuel through it, never had to touch it, use heating oil (kerosene) as it is only 70p per litre, an E07 code is usually under voltage so dead battery or under sized cable. also noticed you are not recycling the air through the heater, we draw the air out of the camper heat it and blow it back in, heats the camper quicker and better, if you draw in cold air from outside it takes far more energy to heat it but also draws damp in.
Yes, we tested the voltage, that was fine, cable length isn’t excessive, voltage at source and at heater was identical so no drop there. We were looking to find a way to recycle the air but unfortunately it’s a bit tricky finding the ideal spot so I opted for outside air for ease, I can always revisit if needed. 👍😊
Being a retired lorry driver and done Russia and Scandinavian with temperatures under minus 40 Celsius the Eberspacher diesel heater and I believe in every lorry build this side of the world has a heater like that. Did you checked the rules towing with an A frame in Europe/ France and Spain. Success Dutch and Marcia
I've just had a thought. ~Once everyone has installed them the government will come along and fine everyone for not sticking to the diesel emission standards. It's not fitted with a dpf, catalytic converter. We know what the government is like
I purchased a Chinese diesel heater 6 months ago for my small workshop, the glow plug failed after 1 week , I replaced the glow plug and it had been working non-stop since and it is used around 30 hours per week ..
I just wonder how the insurance company would view a non CE rated heater without an installation certificate or receipt in the event of a claim ! They don’t need much encouragement to deny a claim.
Actually you can, if it’s legal in its home country, yes there are also some police officers that “know” the law and sadly some that “think” they know it. I’ll take my chances. 😊👍
Running the gas furnace in the coach takes a huge amount of gas, it’s a pretty hungry beast. It does work out cheaper to run a diesel heater apparently but I will have to keep an eye on it. By all accounts leaving the diesel heater is very economical if left on just ticking over. 👍
@thebebbsbeat oh OK I have both the diesel heater will sip about 2lts for around 6hrs so not bad the clicking from the pump can get your nerves bit 😅 still good fun in the motorhome love my yank tank keep up the vlogs cheers jase

That’s good to hear, can’t wait to have it fitted tomorrow 😊

Hi Kurt
Thank you for the comment, to be honest I lost all faith when the Chinese one wouldn’t even run so took the plunge. 😊👍
@thebebbsbeat understandable Scott but there are some really good ones on offer in the UK once it's installed you will be very happy

I’m hoping it’s as good as we would like it to be, hopefully will save us on gas at least. 😊

@@thebebbsbeat If you switch it off let it go through its run down cycle before cutting power , Only takes a minute or two .
It didn’t work out of the box at all, different errors wasn’t impressed with it to be honest. 😢
Personally,, I’d want to revamp that van completely.

Sounds lovely, to be honest we actually like the oak, there are darker woods like the cherry wood and that is very dark, the oak is much lighter. 😊
Keep the originals in my opinion 👍
It’s a tough choice 😊

Yep, checked all the rules 👍😊
Had 1 in my 1991 hymer 3yr been faultless bought from maxpeedingrods
Good to hear another positive from Chinese heaters. I know there are many people who don’t have any issues, I’m just unlucky like that 😂
I've just had a thought. ~Once everyone has installed them the government will come along and fine everyone for not sticking to the diesel emission standards. It's not fitted with a dpf, catalytic converter. We know what the government is like
You’re probably right, I don’t dispute that at all. 😊

Excellent news, glad yours is still going strong 💪 🤞

Yes I have heard the same, which is why we decided in the end to go with Autoterm which is CE certified 😊
I’m sure you can’t use a frames in Europe !
Actually you can, if it’s legal in its home country, yes there are also some police officers that “know” the law and sadly some that “think” they know it. I’ll take my chances. 😊👍
Eber or webasto every time the Chinese and Russian ones just aren't worth the hassle.
Seems I am inclined to agree with that now after this trouble we’ve had. 😊👍
Can I ask why your not using the gas heating that's built in the coach lpg is cheaper than diesel cheers jp
