Hey mama, I'm so glad this recipe works well for you, but I just wanna warn you that overusing those scent beads is HELLLL on your washer!!! They leave a residue on the inside after each wash, especially when used in a cold cycle, and if not cleaned regularly or used excessively can cause your machine to be damaged and require major maintenance or professional cleaning. You may want to consider cutting down on them just slightly, and running some sort of washing machine cleaner through your machine once or twice a month to help prevent that build up! Otherwise you may be in for a costly replacement or repair bill much sooner than you'd normally need it 😱 Similarly, they help retain that scent on your clothes via a similar build up of a microscopic film which can leave clothes much more flammable! You can look up several dry cleaners/laundry professionals demonstrating these phenomenon. I love scented detergents and softeners too, but cutting down can be a worthwhile compromise if it could work for your family!
I have been using this exact same recipe for 15 years. One batch last me (just 1 person) 2 years. 40 bucks. I'm a cook so I use 1/4 cup per load. I love this laundry soap.
@@ashleyquinones3758Hi Ashley, she didn't mention amounts. However, she uses the entire containers. So it's strictly up to you're liking. I also, use entire products to make big bulks so it'll last longer. Sorry, I didn't have precise amounts but I hope this helps.
I'll try it because I'm a self proclaimed mixologist when it comes to shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry and dish detergent. Thanks for your share.
We do the same thing! All the same products, but now that Lysol has laundry sanitizer in powder form, I add that too. Ever since COVID hit I struggled to find something to sanitize clothes instead of spraying it on the clothes...Keep doing you mama 👌🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I make laundry detergent for my farmers market, but all natural. I'm a soap maker, so I make hand made coconut oil soap bars with essential oils and then I grate them with a cheese gater. Then add it to a box of baking soda, box of borax, and then add more essential oils and mix! Only takes two TBS for a large load. Then I add a 1/4 cup vinegar into the fabric softener area. It's a great option for those who want all natural detergent and it works great! Find a local farmers market or soap seller and ask for a bar that's for dishes and laundry (too harsh on skin)
Another way to save is by only using a couple of teaspoons or tablespoons of regular detergent and it will clean our clothes. I read we use way too much and because of they formulate it so concentrated that is all you need. A big reason machines need to be repaired is because of the buildup from the detergent.
Wooow I didn’t know you can do this! Thanks for sharing I might just do this because I find myself always buying liquid detergents very often so this might just be a lil save for me. Thanks girly new subbie ✨
I stopped using liquid detergents years ago because they have a lot of water in the even the name brand has so much water but powder is so much better all you do is just put it in as the water is filling up and you don't have to worry about detergent residue unless of course you used to much detergent but anyway yes powder is the way to go and making this mixture is even better take care and be blessed
I like the idea of baking soda, I love oxiclean for sure and soap shavings, but absolutely NOT on the plastic beads!!! They ruin washers and actually leave residue on your clothes like a film and prevents your clothing of being properly rinsed out completely. Not to mention all of the artificial fragrances and blue lake dye that is harmful for our health in the long run!
Thanks for sharing your laundy hack!I thought I was doing something when I buy detergent in bulk...your method had all the needed ingredients for fresh n clean laundry.

I love the homemade soap recipe. Although, I think it's only good for white clothes in my experience of doing it for over a year. It seem to be very harsh on my color clothes.
Try removing the baking soda from the formula. Borax and baking soda do essentially the same job-removing odors. Make sure you wash your darks inside out as well. If you have an HE washer remember you don’t use the same amount of detergent as a standard washer. For a regular load it should only be no more than a quarter cup of powdered detergent. Also don’t put the scented beads. They create a wax film on your clothing. If you want liquid fabric softener use distilled white vinegar. I have never had my clothes smell like vinegar after washing. If you’re concerned you can always add an extra rinse cycle if your washer has that feature.
@@jesnflex Wrong. Baking soda is a weak base and here is a filler. Borax is an alkaline water softener. Both bases and only neutralize acids. They have no effect on odoriferous bases or hydrocarbons.
