- Minor spoilers: the names of items. I will not be going over the extended descriptions for their lore, nor will I say where to get these items until after the DLC has been out for a little while.

Tested on day 1 patch: Staff of the Great Beyond is NOTABLY better at 352 Incantation / Sorcery scaling at 80/80 Int Faith. Still way worse than Prince of Death Staff but the hybrid feature is definitely now worth considering. Carian Sorcery Sword is still absolutely unusably bad unfortunately.
Question is it an early stat scaling staff like the glintblade and astrologer or is it late stat scaling like prince of death? If it’s early it could be justifiable on 50int/50faith builds rather than an ng+ build like how the prince of death staff is.
That's good for SGB. I was hoping for it to be a bit more say around CRS scaling, but around 350 was a minimum, I hoped for/expected. Hopefully, another patch boosts CSS to not be as bad.
I ❤ ❤❤😊
Does anyone know where to get this staff at?
@@richardvontersch4522
It's locked behind DLC that requires you to beat Mogh, so safe to say it's not early game.
Petition to have new Elden ring, DBD and any discussion be in this setting now. It was so unexpected but amazing at the same time
If it was a campfire instead, id love to see Kale and a survivor sitting with Scott lol
Gathering by the grace as so many tarnished have and will.
Please make a similar video covering new spells. I'd love to see all of the new spells that have been added.
I haven't even come close to finding all of the new spells, might be a while lol
@@ScottJund nice
A +10 weapon from the DLC that is objectibly harder than base CAN'T have stats that low, this has to be a bug. Please FS fix it, I've been in love with that sword since I first saw it!
Unfortunately I don't think it's bugged. Miyazaki himself said that he didn't want any of the base game weapons to be replaced in the dlc ): no idea why or who thinks that's a good idea but yeah
@@luigitoes5887It doesn't have to powercreep, but max invest worse than a 0 upgraded starter weapon is a problem

This is the best time. Right now! When you don’t know what’s to come! You’ll never get this time back and being this excited is just as fun for me as it will be playing the game in 28hrs and 15 minutes.
15 hrs
Gods, 143. For being a prestigious weapon presumably at the end of the DLC, that's a downright shameful scaling stat. I can understand a desire to keep normal catalysts relevant (though the Lusat/Carian/Azur trio are always going to have their spots IMO), but like, *143*. That number needs to get multiplied by 2.5 or smth.
SOTE is getting a release patch the moment it releases to public. So there’s a high chance this will get patched
@@raime_likes_memes_too3624 Here's hoping, yeah - I'd be really happy if this is just something in the calculations breaking due to being applied to casting tools with multiple functions, but there's a nonzero chance FromSoft really thinks this is fine somehow. Anyhow, hopefully it changes.
Don't care if it's not optimal, I just don't want to bother carrying both a stave and a talisman and remembering which to use when hopping between spells in the heat of battle.
At current showing, though, you won't be doing much endgame or in an NG+ damage wise when shown how much was used to kill a single Troll. So, hopefully, it gets fixed/buff. Say perhaps around 350 scaling for 80 in both or hopefully 373 like Regal Scepter for both spells/ incantations.
Who said that exactly? Scott only mentioned that the GB staff and CSS were likely bugged for lower scaling then they should have.
Bruh the Carian Sorcery Sword is so sad. Plz buff Miyazaki.
They had to give it the generic Impaling Thrust too, would've been better if we had the Glintblade variant.

This is a Scott jund video

This post was fact checked by REAL Scott jund
Dissapointed to hear that there doesn't seem to be a Sacred Seal with Dexterity/faith scaling similar to the Clawmark seal, since this is severely needed for lightening builds who want to use lightening weapons (which all scale with dexterity) and lightening spells, which as of now require faith since there is no seal. Hoping you missed it, and it is actually in the game
yeah it's kinda odd that i found the frenzied seal to be the best one for that kinda uild... wack
dex faith already gives a buff with casting speed, i don’t think a seal scaling with that is needed
I’m laughing so hard at the start dude. It looks just as good as it should
Loved that intro with you at the grace!
I'm loving the presentation of this video😂 Ty scott for the info. And yeah I'm thinking the scaling is bugged like how Rivers of blood didn't work with arcane for a while
That opening shot of scoot at the bonfire is amazing
Omg honestly the screen looks great Scott. Made me laugh an actually looks awesome 😎
The damage for the sword is so low, that can't be intended. Not just the spell damage, but also the general dmg. On 80 int and 30 dex, my cleanrot has 500 total AR... while being frost infused. With magic it has 599. That's almost double the damage. Wtf.
Low int high arcane is a meme called the Jungle Hybrid build. It uses Ripple Crescent Halberd with sleep grease, the albinauric Staff, and witch's Glintstone Crown. Put people to sleep then use carian slicer to punish. The more poise, the bigger the slicer punish.
can use more than just slicer, but indeed the fact slicer does low poise damage is surprisngly useful in this scenario, also works well for bleed setups and punishes, but that's just int in general with the magic glintblade spells tbh.
besides, thanks to not needing much high int you actuallyunlock usage of more useful arcane weapons and stuff too, so if the gimmick doesn't work, can always just rely on old trusty RoB, bloody helice, reduvia etc
that is hilarious and evil wtf
@@ScottJund the best part?
you can do the same with sleep repeating crossbow, and do even more damage and infinite combos.
@@iota-09 not to mention you can use the ashes for moonveil, death ritual spear, glinstone kris, and even use Mohg's spear with the right investment.
@@daryla4430 exactly, it may not give as much options in terms of (big) spells, but when it comes to weapons/ashes of war, it gives quite the unique and useful set of options especially for invasions.
Its funny because the description on the sword says its outdated and was phased out due to it being ineffecient
Nice video! I got a question, do you think the PVP meta level will change or will it stay at 125 after this DLC drops?
Good to see you back with Elden ring for the time being! Do you plan on covering the spells pre-release as well?
Hey scott, question since i couldn’t catch you yesterday, are there boss/story cutscenes added? When the previews came out, the people who played them said they didn’t have any cutscenes besides boss start. Also, I have 7 builds ready to go, and trouble on what I should go through first with, quality? Or should I go pure faith caster…? Based on your playthough, that is.
Nice video Scott, I’m resubscribing since your back with the program now. Thank you
Sad to hear about the sword. Maybe the pre-patch will buff it?
As it is, I guess this staff is useful for people who mainly use casting tools for non damaging spells/incantations. For example, casting golden vow, followed by terra magica using the same tool is useful for a dark moon build. Can’t see another use for this staff.
i run a FTH/INT build so i definitely hope that last staff is just bugged and does crazy damage in the game come release thanks for the info and video
Hello just a curious question if you are allowed to answer
The weapon that you can get from the second remembrance progression boss is it int stat required or is it a mix of int/faith?
I think people have shown in reviews so I can answer, its C C C C str/dex/int/fai
@@ScottJund thank you so much I appreciate it
@@ScottJundSo it's meant to be the ultimate late game weapon?
@@fili0938 honestly even at 150 with the base int and faith requirement it still did tons of dmg
@@ScottJund It seems like it makes Sword of Night and Flame obsolete.
So weird that there is still no dex scaling seal. Or at least an infusible seal. Oh well.
What build did you run when you first played the DLC? Was it the one shown in the review video (80 int)?
nah first play was giga strength and nothing else
iirc, the dragon communion seal was bugged on launch so maybe a similar scenario here? hopefully these get buffed as a dual int/faith casting tool is something I’ve wanted for so long
hopefully!
Alright Scott I have one question, did you find any new greatswords that have a stab R2 when you're two handing? PLEASE
yep
@@ShikiRyougi05ive seen it in vids it does have stab r2

Thanks for the info tho!
The ancient meteoric ore gs. Legendary ash of war so can’t switch but it’s OP, the second blast does like 4k for me at lvl 270 w 75 str. That’s 4k AOE
The sword is a thrusting sword, so it'll probably pair well with a greatshield as you can use the sword to cast Sorcerer's Shield on it. Assuming the damage is bugged/unfinished and will be changed in the day one patch it might be good.
Out of what youve found, would you say the incants or sorceries are more interesting/viable for pvp?
Sorceries for sure, although some boss-related incantations are extremely strong. a new dragon spell easily one shots any player with 0 buffs
@@ScottJund THATS TERRIFYING
Are there any strenth int weapons in the DLC like the gravity weapons which have higher scaling on the strength side? :O
Damm was hoping for a seal that can cast sorceries, some of my characters dont want to be carrying around some stick but they need the spells provided by it.
Maybe the staff has some wild lore reason for being absolutely abysmal. What’s the description?
Theres a good chance that they undertuned a lot of the newer concept stuff like the casting weapon as not to have it completely dominate the meta on day 1, they'll likely buff it next patch after some greater data collection.
Hopefully the day 1 patch will fix these things.
is there any update which staff is the best? I also play only caster (int) with lusats atm still
I imagine either there's some bugged stuff or it'll just be buffed outright in an update (hopefully day one, probably a couple weeks to a month)
I dont really use damaging spells or sorcery so the dual incant and spell cast seems really good
Are there any straight sword version of weapon catalyst? Are there any seal that can cast sorcery?
Im happy there staff that can cast incant. Hopefully the damage that was shown is bug and will be day 1 patch
Does it feel like maybe a day 1 patch type deal? Seems really strange that the stats are so low.
Reminder for the people, Day 1 Patch is coming tomorrow too, so likely the casting tools get adjusted
Hopefully, that is a bug for the Staff of the Great Beyond. I think it should be with such a Stat investment, not at Prince of Death Staff level, but around perhaps Carian Regal Scepter scaling. It shouldn't be the strongest in either catalyst/staff, but around 2nd/3rd for the ability to use both in one weapon, I think, for an End Game DLC unique item.
This makes it powerful but not overly busted given there are a few of either Catalyst/Staffs that are more powerful for either Sorcery/Faith. As it is currently shown it is seemingly useless endgame and even mid game due to the low scaling currently. Being able to use practically any cast is great, but all doing almost no damage/benfit is meaningless.
2:30 That weapon must be bugged or they're joking with us, it basically has the dmg of a +0 Carian Knight's Sword
Are there any st Trina related spells and or armor sets? Any new feminine armor sets as well?
...Is that last omni-caster thing supposed to be like the beast talisman from demons souls where people just tossed it on their build without even hitting the talismans stat reqs to use the buffs from various disiplines? Like... get enough faith for golden vow and enough int for the shield buff spell or I dunno thops barrier or whatever (both of which require less than 27 in their respective stats) and then just cast them even without the 27/27 int/fai needed for the staffs stat scaling to actually kick in? Yeah... a 1 slot buffing tool for buffs that don't use stat scaling
that would be pretty disappointing but its possible its just a buff stick. even then, sorcery barely has any buffs.
Scott can you please tell me what the new madness weapon is? Thats the while reason I'm getting the DLC :(
I was begging for a weapon catalyst, man this stings.
Scott I’d appreciate if you answer this though I doubt you’ll see it, does int/faith builds get some love in this DLC? Or at least more weapons variety apart from that twin blades one? It felt really lacking in the base game.
yes
I just want to know if there are more gravity sorceries or if here is only one singular new gravity spell because they were way to little gravity sorceries wich is a issue I wish they fix but only got fix with a mod so I want to know if we are getting more than 1 gravity sorceries
Where do i find the staff of the great beyond? Is it an end-of-DLC item or can i get it decently early?
You need to beat a end of questline boss for it, made from remembrance.
That last one should really deal at least a bit less damage than most catalysts/seals to keep it balanced. Like 250-300 scaling at 40/40
I'm planning on using the funny, Perfume stuff when the DLC comes out, what do those generally scale with? Arcane is my guess, but I wanna double check before I make a new character for it. Larval Tears don't exist :)
I heard it's Dex, but I'm not entirely sure
Are bows buffed in any way ? Or are they made even more superfluous by the existence of infusable ranged weapons that consume no fp or ammo ?
What about the new sorceries? Can you make a video around?
Oh hell yeah please do more content like this!
(Btw i've been subbed to you since elden ring even tho i have zero interest in DBD just because i knew you'd be back for the dlc xD)
OMG the casting sword is so disappointing...
and the dual casting staff aswell...we didnt get much in terms of casting tools huh...hopefully the spells and incants make up for it.
any new ghostflame/death sorceries/weapons?
Lots of ghostflame at the very least
These are probably all under-tuned or bugged like all the arcane scaling bleed weapons were back in 1.0 vanilla elden ring. Give it a patch or two for some balance adjustments
Another arcane staff is odd, I guess they really want me to build for bubble spells
Dual catalyst being ass is immensely disappointing, this and the perfumer weapons is what i was most keen for
We really need ds2 infusion system back + weapon buffs on said infusions.
Instead of a quadriollion offensive talismans and crystal tears.
Yeah I hope the sorcery scaling is broken, because I would love to be able to cast sorceries and incantations with just my one staff. It would certainly open up my build's versatility a lot. That said, the Prince of Death Staff is definitely fitting of my Death Knight build.
hey I'm a week late and you've probably already found it by now but there's one more sacred seal that boosts Spiral incantations specifically incase anyone is coming to this video and was curious
Are there any new scythes? They're my favorite weapon class
There’s only 1 according to oroboro
still haven't done my magic run but it may be time now
Please FromSoft don't have made the only catalyst weapon be trash. They missed a huge opportunity to give you a catalyst with Gideon.
They did the exact same thing with the Candlestick Sword from DS3. Everything is a pale imitation of the chad Blue Flame Sword from DS2.
Strong Catalyst Weapon, Infusions, AND Buffs!
I fully believe plenty of the current dlc weapon are bug especially unique weapons that can't be buff like the curseblade that doesn't have any split damage can't be buffed or infused and fully upgraded still has abysmal 45 bleed build up.
i hope you can make video on new spells, its really sad nobody is focusing on magic
Well well well, look who's back to souls games
Day 1 patch will probably “fix” these weapons. They already confirmed it will be one and they probably have these weapons so low in dmg for spoilers reasons
im not sure why they would want reviewers to intentionally think certain things are shit but heres hoping
Tbh I wonder about if the stats don't scale at all, hence the low scaling
"low int high arc sis such an odd build it wouldn't really work well"
my ass knowing that and still going for it because of the albinauric staff to allow overall setups to get bleed or sleep procs in and because i know that a hyper-optimized pvp build would make the dlc less fun for me despite those being the only thing i make as of late
Yeah... yeah i know, that's exactly why i prepared that as build for the dlc... sigh.
from what i heard there's gonna be an arcane +5 talisman so that should improve that poor disfunctional build that is int-arc, hopefully this new staff reveals to be a good alternative to the albinauric one.
(current build of mine has iirc 24 int 65 arc, +- 5 points per stat cause i'm used to using physick more than your average pve'er)
A late comment in relation to the posting time of this video, but I feel like the Carian Rapier might work if combined with another int scaling rapier. Who knows though.
ARC scaling usually effects status effect buildup, not actual damage scaling. So that might be why the Sorcery Scaling numbers on the Maternal Staff don't seem impressive
That's not true, there are several Arcane scaling tools like the Albunauric Staff / Dragon Communion Seal whose scaling is directly tied to Arcane
@@ScottJund but is there any sorcery among the new ones that has any form of stat build up? i think i saw one that looked like bubbles but I'm not sure,
All the catalyst are just useless in this state, i think is a bug or something because there in no reason to use it in any situation above the base game ones.
I assume the sorcery sword would be most powerful in pvp where u put pebble, carian piercer and the new teleport on as like a poking and roll catching tool
yeah why not just carian slicer / pierce tho
@@ScottJund cus rapier moveset in pvp is incredibly strong, im assuming its pierce damage, if so then you can do counter damage and headshot with it which u can not do with carian slicer. if its anything like the demon scar in ds3 it will be viable in pvp, u use to be able to do a running r1 on demon scar and combo it into the WA and then chaos bed vestiges
@@Hong656 doesnt matter if it does 180 damage a hit lol
Might be interesting if it worked like the Pilgrims Spontoon in DS2? Giving counter damage to spells seems neat, though if the counter damage is less than a normal attack then it’s probably useless (I’ll still use it though 😅)
@@ScottJund true, but if it gets buffed to be usable it will be strong
I hope there an incantation one i love the fire sword that was a catalyst in ds3
Today, I learned that I actually can be jealous of a content creator.
please put a guide up when the dlc drops, i don't really care if there bad i just want them
The Carian Sorcery Sword is a huge disappointment to me, as someone who likes spellblade-style builds. I wasn't expecting best-in-slot catalyst damage, but I was at least expecting something mildly competent. I really hope it's bugged and that they patch it with real sorcery scaling soon.
Unsurprising, FromSoft has a track record of actively disliking Casters. It's been a continuous downward spiral going from DS2 to DS3 to Elden Ring, with almost nonexistent upward movement along the way.
People constantly harp on about how strong spellcasting is but completely ignore the fact that the only reason for that is because FS would rather add copious amounts of damage stacking effects rather than take the effort to improve overall Caster gameplay.
the thing is weapons deal almost the same damage with weapon arts that are better than spells like taker's flame or the moonlight greatsword, its one of those issues of balance culture where they heave to learn the hard way by failing, remember ds3 when every spell had ds1 speed
idk dude, i feel like a beast on my pure mage. i dont actually feel like i need to be any stronger, but i get it
@@ScottJund
I don't see it as necessarily making Casters stronger, but rather an equalizing of gameplay features compared to their Martial counterparts.
In regards to the new Perfume Bottles and Throwing Weapons, that's something Seals/Staves should've had by default years ago. An FP-free standard attack that scaled directly off the Seal/Staff Magic Scaling.
The L2 for Ash of Wars are all but useless for Seals/Staves with the sole exception being the Carian Regal Scepter. Access to the spell-like AoWs would've been a phenomenal addition to Caster gameplay.
Martials get all sorts of Talismans that offer different ways to achieve bonus damage while Casters get a lazy generic general boost variant. Infusions would've been a better method for the same effect, something that DS2 had. (Bonuses from Rings were quite small and weren't something you built your build around.)
There are a plentiful variety of options for recovering HP, but a scant few when it comes to FP. The majority of these FP recovery options don't support Caster gameplay, come in extremely limited amounts, or offer an insultingly low flat recovery amount.
In its current Elden Ring variation, they could've just put Seals/Staves on the Tool belt and it would offer no real mechanical difference. (Like what Bloodborne did)
Wait, the thrusting sword is really the only catalyst weapon? I guess I will keep harping on about this. DS3, a game cobbled together from scraps that released 6 years before elden ring _launched_ with 4. Elden is so much higher quality on so many fronts, why did they gimp the arsenal like this? No catalyst weapons on launch, one single thrusting sword for only sorceries in the DLC, no cool asymmetrical paired move-sets like the crow quills or farron that I've seen. The one thing I'm really holding out hope for at this point is a cool transformation stance like the aquamarine dagger or ringed knight sword, and even then I feel like I'm going to be let down on that front as well.
I love the new additions the dlc is bringing, I really do, but my hype has been thoroughly tempered if I'm going to be honest.
Its the only one I've found. Its entirely possible there is more. There is a ton of cool shit you haven't even considered in the DLC, you'll still love it.
@@ScottJund I did forget that you said in your video yesterday there's a lot you havent done, so I'll hold out faith (pun mildly intended) there's an incantation catalyst weapon.
