The counter to that is to use the directional input for blind spot, switching between left and right until you get them to predict your next left or right and then do the other.

Saw a clip of someone using the new mage spell that teleports you into inescapable frenzy. They would teleport through an attack and then do the frenzy grab as a roll catch and it worked surprisingly well
An good option of AoE spell for invasions is Messmer's Orb, since it can deal almost 2k damage if you stack all fire damage bonuses and charge it. The hosts and phantoms seem to have a really hard time dodgin it due to the delayed explosion, so you can rollcatch their recovery from being knocked down from the first cast with a second uncharged cast. Killing the host by Messmer's Orb into rollcatch Messmer's Orb is just dumb fun.

I was totally looking towards a pyromancy/pure faith build in pvp, since Catch Flame has reigned for too long. I'm glad at least Fire Serpent can stand a chance for that short-medium bridge.
As for blindspot, most people using it are pretty simple, so you can bait it out and bonk them on the recovery. Another potential solution, though im still testing it, is charged R2 on light greatsword, if you release it as they use the ash, the hitbox is active at the very start of the swing, and as it comes from your lower side, if they end up there, they get smacked before their strike lands, which will often knock them out of it. (not your better by any fu*en means, but have been looking for counters for basically everything so any knowledge is good knowledge given the game revolves around knowledge checks at this point, at least for a while)

11:20 You can actually switch sides with blind spot, just tested it out on some mobs because I remember doing it before. The guy was just being brainless. The skill despcription reads "Leap into close quarters to take advantage of the enemy's blind spot and gore them from the side. Inputs determine which side you strike from. This attack slips below the opponent's guard." Not entirely sure how precise the timing is but if you strafe left or right before you press the ash of war, you'll always move in the direction of the strafe. Unsure how well back/forward works or if there's some kind of intermediary directionals though.
The gkat running attack is identical to its crouch/roll attack meaning you can chain these attacks together with very slightly different timing. It's an insanely good vortex. Rakshasa gkat also has the poke r2 and hyper armor. The followup r1 also prevents people monkey mashing out of hitstun since the followup poke is so quick.
I was surprised at how much hyperarmor it gives you, once I finally respec into a pure DEX build it'll definitely become my favorite over baymore even.
@@anitaremenarova6662 Its basically just a better baymore, just without being infusible and no changing WA. Better crouch attack, same R2, longer range, higher damage. And you can you have a good running r1.
Miriam’s vanishing is a very useful and bad ass sorcery for pvp. Check it out. You can soft chain spells from it as well. Example being Miriam’s vanishing->Carian piercer.
reminder that you can aim blindspot to attack from the left as well as the right. So if your opponent actually knows what they're doing it becomes a lot harder to trade with catch flame.
another spell i like using is the giant golden arc incantation. Big hitbox, tracks, moves slowly enough that you can run behind it and start roll catching.
An incantation combo I’ve been really enjoying in Invasions is the final boss spell into multilayered rings of light and then into Knights lightning spear. But honestly I might add flame serpent to it or replace rings of light with it since it tracks better. If the first incant misses it means nothing, but if it hits, you get a ton of pressure and they’ll usually panic roll and eat your follow up incants.
A decent counter I found for blind spot is wraith of gold. It isn’t perfect but the big aoe really shuts down people who mindlessly spam it. You have to kinda predict when they’ll do it but most people running blind spot are pretty twitchy and will use it whenever they see you start an animation.
Glad that you're back to ER content! Kinda surprised I haven't seen you use crucible breath, it's excellent for duels and fills the same close-mid range slot you use the flame of frenzy for except the damage can be boosted by the crucible set further.
Biggest weakness to fire serpent I felt is it consumes just a tad bit too much stamina to play really agressive with it trying to setup melee combos, otherwise it's definitely one of the best pvp incants we got. The new disc spell, multilayered rings of light is also very good for punishing ranged spam/slow animations. My favorite is comboing in miquella's light after collapsing stars pull though. It's not safe at all but when you pull it off when the opponent doesn't expect it they get really disoriented and usually get hit and it just feels epic. Just sad you need gigalordian int and faith to do it with metyr's seal as well. Worst part of miquella's light though is the way it functions. It shoots an invisible projectile that your opponent can roll and that makes it go behind them hitting a wall and exploding there... They need to fix it so it just targets who you are locked on to, it's already dangerous enough to use...
Fun to see this series back again. Can’t wait to see more dlc setups tried. On my own testing for sorceries, gravitational missile is a killer spell specifically for the aiming down part. The AoE is huge, and the distance can be mixed up by free aiming slightly further away on the ground, so it’s hard to punish. Getting a knockdown also lets you set up Glintblades or a Sword Phalanx and keep the pressure on. I then mix it up with Blades of Stone to hit players trying to punish my AoE spam with their own ranged attacks, since they have the same animation. Blades of Stone then gives me even more mixups because it blocks like of sight, as you pointed out with that lightning spear kill in this video. Also fun in PvP, although I’m still trying to figure out how best to use it, is Miriam’s Vanishing. It’s a slow teleport, but it has two advantages that I can see: 1. The ending animation (where you emerge from invisibility in a cloud of smoke, obscuring your animations) can be canceled into casting another spell. 2. It seems to break enemy lock on? If that second thing is true and I’m not just imagining it, this should be a solid get off me tool if the opponent is locking on a lot. Hiding the cast animations is also really fun. I enjoy mixing up that animation cancel with Carian Slicer to sneak in a hit, and Comet to punish people not reacting (or reacting with a ranged counter) when they are far away. Then when they get wise to this, I begin cancelling into Gavel of Haima for hyper armor trades.
Why can't I run into more mages like you, it's always the same tired old cheese lol. Still think sorcery is way overtuned compared to incantations but at least you're having fun with mixing it up.
Other decent new incants: Giant Golden Arc comes out super fast, has good damage and a weird hitbox. The tornado spell is easily punished but if you can get one off at range its big AOE is pretty good at catching people. I usually use Giant Golden Arc to make them run away in a straight line and follow up with the tornado spell.
@@anitaremenarova6662 yeah the long casting time means you have to put some thought into zoning with other spells; hence the giant golden arc into tornado strategy has worked pretty well in my experience if they run from the arc instead of rolling into it
