  • Join us as we take a quick look at the Shower Miser system from Aqua View. Now available on all in stock Rockwood models at Southern RV, the Aqua View “Extended Stay” Technology gives you the ability to stay out in your RV longer by conserving both your fresh and gray water capacities up to 40%. Without changing your tanks or adding weight!
    The SHOWERMI$ER simply connects to your shower outlet. By flipping a small lever, you are able to redirect the cold water back into the fresh water tank, before it even comes out of the showerhead! This water would normally go down the drain, filling up your gray water tank. SHOWERMI$ER, with its unique and patented color-changing ability, will show you in under four seconds that hot water has arrived to the showerhead. Just flip the small lever back to release the water and step into your nice warm shower, without wasting a drop!

    Only thing I'd add is that if you're connected to city water and leave your Shower Miser on, it will (eventually) cause your tank to overflow, since it's returning the water to the tank.

    The shower miser does bit return water directly back to the FW tank. It tees between the tank and the pump. FW tanks have 4 connection points: 1) fill, 2) vent, 3) pump pick up and 4) drain.

    It’s not instant hot water. Once you turn your valve that hot water goes back to the fresh (cold) water tank as time goes on with circulation you end up with nothing but hot water, no cold. It definitely is good to have if you boondock a lot.

    This is genius, we have a “pause” valve on our shower head to take military showers. But!!! Since we have a tankless water heater the water takes a bit to become warm again! So we never use that feature! This would fix that too!

      The Shower Miser is a great solution, and especially handy for the people that do mostly off-grid/boondock camping!

    I needed this explanation for our 2022 2204s bigtime! We camp in a lot of state parks with no sewer hook-up. My question (as stupid as it may be) is when do you add cold water? I assume after the miser turns white and you flip it to release the water, you then adjust temp by adding cold and use the on/off on your shower head to conserve grey tank space? One other question, I've been told to crack open my low point drains when using the miser as there is often overflow into the fresh water tank. Is this true and how does this happen?

    • @Southern_RV
      @Southern_RV  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Patty, thanks for watching!
      Concerning getting the water temp right (adding back cold water), just do as you assumed and make the adjustment to your liking after the miser turns white and you release the hot water.
      The Miser does cycle the water (even if it's a city hookup) back to the fresh tank. If you are on a city water hook up with an empty fresh tank, then you can just monitor the tank and dump as needed. We don't necessarily recommend leaving the low point drain open on the fresh tank, mostly because no one wants a bug invasion.

    You could just add a funnel and line back to the fresh water, run water into the funnel till it got worm no extra stuff but a simple line.

  • @agosuusheitby4348

    Can this be added to any rv?

  • @IthacaDon
    @IthacaDon 2 роки тому +1

    So if you are in freezing conditions and want to warm the water in the FW tank, could you run this for awhile and heat up the water in the tank?

    • @Southern_RV
      @Southern_RV  2 роки тому +1

      We hadn't thought of it that way.... but technically, yes. The system is just cycling water out of the fresh tank, through the heater and back into the fresh tank, if you were to leave it running it would minimally heat the fresh water reserves. The limiting factor would be the size of your hot water heater and it's recuperation rate.
      Edit: it should be noted though that Rockwood Signatures and Ultra Lite's come standard with thermostatically controlled heated holding tanks. (optional on Geo-Pro models) Rockwood being the primary manufacturer installing the Showermiser as a standard feature.

    We are having issues with our shower in our 2021 Geo Pro 20bhs camper. The shower worked at first, but now there is no water coming out of the shower with the showermiser in the up or down position. Is it possible to remove the showermiser?

    • @Southern_RV
      @Southern_RV  Рік тому

      The showemiser system can be removed, but without having a qualified technician diagnose the problem it's really hard to say what is going on... the problem may not reside with the showermiser system, it could be one of several other issues.

    Does this also work if you’re on city hook ups? Or will I need to put some water in fresh water tank first? Does it only pull from fresh water tank?

    • @Southern_RV
      @Southern_RV  Рік тому

      If you are on your city hookup the water will be diverted to the fresh tank until it is hot and you flip the showemiser handle.

    This only makes sense when you don’t have the tub spout. Whatever position I put the miser lever in, the water just pours out of the tub spout into the gray tank. Lame. 😒

      Sounds like yours may not have been installed correctly. If you are still inside your factory warranty, you might want to see about having it corrected.

    You do not tell us about ripping the belly apart to run a line back to the freshwater tank and adding a connection to the freshwater tank. Not so simple in most RVs.

      Hi Ken, our intention with this video was to explain the Shower Miser system that is commonly found as a standard feature on Rockwood and select other brands. You are correct that we are not discussing an intallation here, we are merely explaining to shoppers and new RV buyers the feature they may have pre-installed from the factory.

  • @projet2907
    @projet2907 2 роки тому

    It doesn't work like magic, don't you need to run a line from the shower to the fresh tank?

    • @Southern_RV
      @Southern_RV  2 роки тому +2

      The Shower Miser actually does what you are describing. It is simply a line with a valve that runs back to your fresh water tank.

    • @orenkern9778
      @orenkern9778 9 місяців тому

      @Southern_RV , it does not return directly to the FW tank. Pull a FW tank and show us the connection points. There are 4: 1) fill, 2) vent, 3) pump pick up and 4) drain. The shower miser tees on the FW tank pick up line just before the pump.

    Maybe saves a few gallons if that.

    • @pattyg982
      @pattyg982 2 роки тому +1

      I have to think it saves more than that. We are on city water right now, but at a state park with no sewer. I didn't want to "run the hot" and fill the grey tank so I used the miser. After one shower my 50 gallon fresh tank registers as 1/3 full - I'd say that's more than a few gallons.

      Try boondocking for 5-6 nights. 2 people taking showers for 5 nights thats 10 gals wasted. With a 40 gal grey that only leaves 30 for showers and dish washing or? Trust me it would be a game changer for boondocking.
