Hi Dot , love your channel and have been following KETO for 4 months now and have lost 40 lbs from 265 to 225 . My bulletproof coffee experience was similar to yours!! . First time used about 1 1/2 tablespoons of MCT !! almost immediate cramps and the consequences !!! 4 months later , my morning bulletproof is 2 tablespoons of ghee or butter ( cant always find ghee ) and 2 of MCT oil plus 1 packet of sweetener , 1/4 teaspoon of each cinnamon and turmeric and 1 tablespoon of heavy cream ; add the coffee and blend for 30 seconds . Smooth and creamy and totally delicious .
I mix bone broth, turmeric, pepper, ginger, mix is from fine quality broth that has been extracted over i think 48 hours.( broth is Best of the bone broth)i add butter and mct , blender, lovely fluffy drink that i use to feel satisfied. Butter bypasses the liver, therefore doesnt get stored as fat, just the goodness of butter, oil etc. occasionally i add collagen powder, (dont need it) just to be exotic.
I have had butter in my coffee for years but accidently. I love to dunk my toast or peanut butter sandwich in my coffee (or my dad's coffee when I was a little lass) and it is so good.
Thank you for the advice about MCT oil! Although a little late for me (I went straight to 1 x tbsp and had the same experience as you). I've subscribed to your channel. Thank you Dot
i made bullet coffee for first time and it turned out very well !!! i had been watching videos from last one year on this coffee but couldn't believe people that it tastes good but i gave it a try this morning after watching ur video thanks a lot
O my goodness...,butter in coffee, I’ve never heard of that but it sounds and looks delicious 😋....I think I need some of that MCT oil....definitely gonna try, TY! Another helpful vid! ❤️🇨🇦
We are doing a keto diet, really assists keeping you full, I will have my coffee in the morning and not even think of eating until lunchtime. HUGE for me.
I tried just stirring a teaspoon into a cup of coffee with half and half just using a spoon and hated it.It didn't mix at all without that blender. Thanks I guess I need one ! Irish butter from grass fed cows would be healthy too.
I did the same think on the mtc oil, but didnt get cramping, i just got a little nauseous. So now I just use a tsp, but I'm going to start working my way up to 1 tbsp.
Hi Dot .. I just discovered your channel last week .. and have been watching several of your videos each day since :-) You mentioned a " Chocolate Fat Shake" at the beginning of this video .. is that something you can share the recipe on too? Thank you!! And congratulations on your success!
Hi Kristen and welcome to the channel. I actually have a video on the fat shake. Beware, the carb count seems high, but this keeps me full until dinner and sometimes I can't even finish it. Link: ua-cam.com/video/ISCVC6XO6jM/v-deo.html
Hello Dot, I love watching your videos and learning your recipes. I am wanting to start the low carb diet. Do you have any suggestions on how to get started? Snacks to help through the day. How many carb should you have a day, etc. Thanks, Teresa 😊
Hi Teresa, A book I recommend to folks is called A New Atkins For A New You written by 3 doctors/researchers (Westman, Phinney, Volek) who are considered the experts on Low carb/keto diets. The nice thing is the book has food lists based on your carb level, protein levels to shoot for, sample menus and recipes. I still refer back to this book after 6 years. Otherwise, here are a few ideas to help you get started: 1. To lose weight, you want to eat less than 50g of carbs a day. For more aggressive weight loss, you want to eat around 20g of carbs in a day (learn to love leafy greens!). Now some low carb folks prefer to count "net carbs". All that means is you subtract the amount grams of fiber in a food from the total carbs to get the "net carb" count. I do that right now, but am toying with going back to total carbs. Really is up to you. 2. I have some sample weekly menus on my blog. I'd suggest starting with the 2014 menus. dottotrot.com/weekly-menus/ 3. You'll want to keep things simple. So I really encourage people to take an hour (it will be less time as you practice it) and actually plan out your weekly menu -- what meals you're eating for the week. That way there are no surprises. From that menu you build a grocery list (and avoid unnecessary aisles with many temptations!). 4. Food prep -- A lot of people hate the time this takes. But to me, a couple of hours washing/chopping veggies or making a casserole that is lunch every day of the week saves me time and I avoid the temptation of eating something I really don't want. 5. Build good habits one at a time. Your making a lifestyle change. But don't try to make a million changes at once. Pick a habit you want to cultivate (drink more water, getting 8 hours of sleep, cutting out sugar, etc.) and work on that one. Once you have it down, then work on another. 6. Patience over perfection! This is so important. You not only need to be patient with weight loss at times, but with yourself. We are not perfect and mistakes happen. A good habit to learn is forgiveness. We waste too much time beating ourselves up (which only ends up with a binge in my experience). Weight loss takes time. There will be weeks you do everything "right" and the scale doesn't budge. Then weeks where it flies off for no reason. If you wait or perfection, you'll never hit your goal. I hope this helps. Good luck!
I cannot have butter due to lactose intolerance and cannot eat any subcultures dairy. Can I use margarine instead of butter, or would you suggest other substitutions?
Good morning, I bought the MCT oil at Costco a while ago, I was there shopping I got into a conversation with this woman who told me almost how she really likes MCT oil, so I bought it but yet I haven’t gave it a try. I guess I was afraid to try the unknown to be honest with you. But this morning I will give it a try, after watching your tutorial but I was wondering the butter that you need to use before I do use the MCT oil what brand I just have Costco brand? Is that okay to use? oh can you drank a cup everyday?
love your channel. Your recipes are accompanied with information that helps the why do this part! I am interested in the recipe for what your husband tasted and 'ran off' with...LOL. thanks for the fun you add to knowledge in your videos...
Thank you :) glad you're liking the recipes. He actually made a video on the channel talking about the top 10 recipes (according to him, lol). Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/bxULcvkqI3A/v-deo.html
Hi Dot, the coffee is certainly great and provides a boost of energy. Any thoughts on how to make Keto ice cream sandwiches? I haven't seem to find any recipe on one of my favorite treats. Thank you!
I don't add sweeteners to coffee, but if that's how you like it, just make it one that doesn't impact blood sugar levels. Stevia is just fine for that (but check the stevia label, as some mix the stevia with other sweeteners that are not that good for you).
Glad to have you along! Start with "A new atkins for a new you" and if you like a little more science, "Why we get fat" by Gary Taubes :) Lots of great books on the right side of my blog (dot2trot.com).
I'd say "dish." It can replace breakfast if you choose to, and it kickstarts your body into a sort of fat-burning mode. Keep in mind, you'll still want to get in your vitamins throughout the day, as there aren't really any in this :)
Dot, what do you think about MCT oil powder? I've heard that it's easier to use and doesn't have the digestive side effects. Just make sure to choose a pure powder without extra fillers.
I haven't tried it yet and I'd want to know more about how it's processed. But yes, the fillers do defeat the purpose of using MCT. From what I've read, they need to use certain fillers to turn the oils into powder. So you don't get 100% MCT. I'd love to see if there is a article comparing insulin spikes with products. Also I don't know how the digestive side effects go a way with the powder, other than the fillers. I've read that some are using fillers for gut health (sort of a pre/probiotic). That has potential as long as insulin doesn't spike. So I'm curious & hopeful...but very cautious.
I have been doing keto for over a year and done some research on this since i have IBD. There are a few good keto product companies that make MCT oil powders & supplements that are using nonGMOs. NUTRIKETO & PERFECT KETO. Check them out and see if that is a fit for you.
It depends on why you are doing intermittent fasting. I follow Dr. Jason Fung's view which is the goal of intermittent fasting is to break insulin resistance. So while consuming any calories during a fast technically breaks the fast, it isn't as important because the fat your consuming doesn't increase insulin -- and helps me get into fat burning mode. He recommends if you want a bullet coffee to limit it to only 1 in a day if you are fasting. And you wouldn't consume any other calories during the fast, with the exception of the minimal calories from a cup of bone broth.
Kind of a tough question because everyone will have a different answer. "Bulletproof coffee" is trademarked, for one. The guy has his own little formula. However, just like "Dumpster" it's sort of a word that's moved on from his control (other than legal). People use "bulletproof coffee" to mean it has butter in it. Still others if it has butter, other fats, and MCT oil. I like to think if it has mct oil, it's "bullet" or "bulletproof." Hope that helps.
If you don't use MCT oil, only coconut, you shouldn't have to build up to it. That said, people coming off a low fat diet (directly) should build up to higher fat contents "in general" because they're not used to it. Best of luck :)
Does the MCT oil have the taste of coconut? I do like coconut but the taste of the oil nauseates me. I wonder if anyone sell unflavored coconut oil? I really want to start incorporating the oil into my cooking but just can not get past the taste.
Refine coconut has no flavor. It is in solid form. If you get this get a small jar to make sure you like it. I use it for frying. You can get it at Walmart. I hope this helps.
You can also get virgin coconut oil, this gives you the subtle taste of coconut which I think is really tasty in coffee. You won't get as many MCTs as the pure oil, but there are still MCTs in unrefined coconut oil.
Your video just encouraged me to give MCT Oil another go. Like you, I made the mistake of adding a tbsp to my coffee the first time I tried it. Ugh! Thanks to you, I now know why I reacted as I did. lol. #NewSub
I use NOW Foods and I order it from Amazon (link: amzn.to/2PI0BVY). You can also pick up some at GNC or the VitaminShoppe. Grocery stores are now starting to carry it too, either in the health food section or near the coconut oil.
Thanks for video. Ive been doing keto for a while and tend to follow advice from Dr Jason Fung (IF), Dr Eric Berg (keto) and Mark Sisson (priminal). Ive done a ton of recipes and try keto products that are nonGMO (i do a paleo form of keto). Im not the video making type but really enjoy finding people who are spreading the good news, recipes and benefits they have obtained.
Thank you and I too follow Drs. Fung & Berg. And Mark Sisson is awesome. I did his 30 day challenge and found it is perfect for me when I hit maintenance. As I do LCHF I find that I'm moving closer and closer to Mark's primal program.
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living Good on you! Primal is a very good maintenance diet. I used the primal workout as my fitness guide. Since Im in my 50s and postmenopausal, i have an ovary type body that responds better to more high impact so ive tweak it by doing 5 - 30 sec intervals of intense running in my 45 mins walks/hikes 5x a week. Found some great free videos on here for 15 mins of weight lifting 4 days a week alternating upper & lower body and one day of yoga type stretching for 15 mins.
I guess I try that there's just something about the oil in coconut that I don't like. Can you make a video about ways to eat avocados that's another thing I can't handle. Is there good ways to fix them because I know there so healthy.
Hi Janet! I am planning a few avocado focused videos after Thanksgiving. In the mean time, I have a video where I make an avocado butter you might wanna try. The link is here: ua-cam.com/video/M5OhdUsKapQ/v-deo.html
Cows milk has too much protein and milk sugar, but you can use heavy cream. Yes you can drink almond milk, but I wouldn't use it all the time as it still has carbs. I can't drink soy milk because of the estrogen. However low carbers do use it. The only thing I've heard is that most soy is heavily genetically modified (the best soy is in Japan).
New subscriber here. I have a question for you I am pretty much a vegetarian. Every now and then I may eat something with hamburger, but no other meat. Is there a way to do a diet like yours? Not sure if there is or not. Thanks for sharing your videos.
There are vegetarians who do LCHF but it is a challenge. The key is getting moderate amounts of healthy protein. Many turn to legumes for the protein. But unfortunately legumes also come with lots of carbs. You still need to get enough healthy fat & protein from animal sources but it doesn't necessarily mean red meat. Sources include eggs, fish, full fat dairy. If you already work those into your diet, then LCHF is much easier (in fact, many consider that to be the healthiest version of LCHF). To give you an idea of the types of meals LCHF vegetarians use, here's a link for you to take a look at: www.ditchthecarbs.com/low-carb-vegetarian-meals/ Hope this helps!
Its prob bc the mct is straight energy, so if you dont use it, that might cause the cramps. More effective to take this before a workout i would assume.
Maybe. My guess is when it's in Coconut Oil it's only 60% strength so it is diluted. From what I read you need to take it a few times a day in small amounts to get your body use to it.
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living That could be why in that case. Bc coconut oil isnt as sgrong its fine. But not when using mcts. Idk. Just got mine in today, prob gonna try it in a little while. Ill start at half a tablespoon just too see. If its not enough ill take more. I loved the energy from coconut oil. It was already so much you dont know what to do with other then work out to burn some of it off.
how do you find the SR MCT oil I got same MCT from amazon after opening the bottle they tell you to keeping in fridge , but it get real thick in fridge
I've purchased it from Amazon and my local Vitamin Shoppe carries it too. However, the instructions on the bottle says to "store at room temperature." MCT oil is not stored in your refrigerator. I keep mine in my pantry next to my olive oil.
Paula Lotte I know your comment was 4 months ago, but I USED TO BE addicted to sweet coffee but I found that coconut oil and coffee tasted "sweet" enough for me and I ended up quitting sugar altogether it took some time and some effort to reduce my sugar cravings but I no longer need sugar in my coffee
I just tried the bulletproof coffee with mct oil & butter & I couldn't hack it. I tried adding some vanilla extract to it & still a no go. Will the heavy cream drastically change the taste to where I can handle the taste?
Tiffany, you could literally swap out everything in the coffee for fats/creams that you like. For me, I love the cream, so for me I'd say "yes I want cream, love the flavor." I also like butter. But if you didn't like cream or butter, you could leave one out entirely. You'd simply have a less creamy drink. The 'flavor' mainly comes from the coffee, and the bitterness of coffee is cut a little by what you add to it. If you don't like coffee at all, there may be nothing you can add to it that will satisfy :( The good news is, you can add MCT oil to just about anything (fat bombs, salad dressing, anything calling for a little oil). It's flavorless and healthy. Just go LIGHTLY with it on your first go, as it's known to upset stomachs if you go too heavy. A teaspoon might do you fine for starters.
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living I absolutely love coffee & cream with my coffee. I think it's the sugar I was missing. I don't like stevias after taste. I'm afraid I won't be able to cut out the sugar. Is it ok if I use my regular sugar just not as much?
I think it all depends on what your goals are. When I was 325, if all I did was have a tiny bit of sugar in my coffee every day and no other carbs, I would have still lost weight (compared to what I was doing to gain the weight). These days, it'd stall my weight loss. So for me, I couldn't do it. Have you tried Xylan? Monk fruit sweetener? These are really great sugar alternatives and they taste different than stevia.
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living... yes, youre right, it does get better with time! FYI everyone, the same issue can happen with coconut oil, but to a much lesser degree, so be ready for it? I use a half TBS each of coconut oil and MCT, because I love the taste of CCO. MCT is flavorless to me 😫 but I use it for the benefits. And I'm happy to say a half TBS doesn't cause me any abdominal issues.
True but the benefits are not as strong because its mostly C12. C8 & C10 blend are the fat burners and most of the benefits. So MCT oil is a better bang for the buck health wise.
Hello, i want to try your fat homb drinks but I can't drink butter and coco milk. Could you recommend a replacement for these 2 fats say, flax seed oil and another one? Thank you
Hi Emerita! Well, you can use most healthy fats with coffee. But I don't know if the taste will make it worth while for you. I would recommend experimenting. Two options might consider: 1. Cacao butter. It's all fat and gives you a nice chocolate flavor. 2. You could try red palm oil. The taste is acquired but you could use cinnamon or nutmeg to mellow it out.
Carbs turn to sugar and sugar turns to fat. I found your channel Yesterday on my Roku. I'm a full-blown diabetic, and overweight. For three months I was getting steroid shots. Gained lots of weight. I have done all that I could do to get the weight off, not successful.Thank you
Suggest you check out Dr. Jason Fung. He treats overweight patients who are diabetic. He has lots of videos on UA-cam and has written a few books, one is The Diabetes Code (link: amzn.to/2IbYplO) which is specifically about reversing diabetes (the weight loss is a nice side effect).
Not necessarily. I fast to break insulin resistance. While a bullet coffee does have calories, those calories come from fat, which doesn't trigger insulin.
Hi Dot , love your channel and have been following KETO for 4 months now and have lost 40 lbs from 265 to 225 . My bulletproof coffee experience was similar to yours!! . Do you drink this coffee every morning?
im using this exact MCT oil and never experienced any discomfort in my stomach and its really working well
Me too
You’re an excellent presenter of this most incredible information. Great work ma’am! 👍
Dot, I am learning so much from your low carb videos, thank you.

Thank you for the advice about MCT oil! Although a little late for me (I went straight to 1 x tbsp and had the same experience as you). I've subscribed to your channel. Thank you Dot
I use MCT oil powder. You can use as much as you want and no adverse effects. 🤗
I have 2 cups of java first thing in the AM with MCT oil only. Works well for me.
i made bullet coffee for first time and it turned out very well !!!
i had been watching videos from last one year on this coffee but couldn't believe people that it tastes good but i gave it a try this morning after watching ur video
thanks a lot
Heh, that's great. Glad you liked it. And I agree, it tastes good. Also curbs my appetite, always a plus. Cheers.
just found your channel ... so thankful for you..
O my goodness...,butter in coffee, I’ve never heard of that but it sounds and looks delicious 😋....I think I need some of that MCT oil....definitely gonna try, TY! Another helpful vid! ❤️🇨🇦

Dot, I love your channel! I found it yesterday, but how do I start?!?
Thank you so much this was really really helpful and useful too
You think this oil is good for my mom she’s 82?
Thanks
I tried just stirring a teaspoon into a cup of coffee with half and half just using a spoon and hated it.It didn't mix at all without that blender. Thanks I guess I need one ! Irish butter from grass fed cows would be healthy too.
The blender is key here. I use Kerry Gold for butter. Just love it.
I seemed to stop losing wt. when I drank this...
But it is SO good
Do you have to have the butter
Must try this thank you😋😊😊
I did the same think on the mtc oil, but didnt get cramping, i just got a little nauseous. So now I just use a tsp, but I'm going to start working my way up to 1 tbsp.
Need to get back to this! 😍 awesome reminder! 🔥
I never had any problems with mct oil from the beginning. But it was delicious in coffee although my nurse daughter had a cow about my bpc
Coconut oil is a C12 Lauric acid. MCT that is C8, C10 acids are the fat Burning. Different than Coconut oil!
How much butter did you use
Looks yummy! Thank you for sharing.
I just drank my bullet coffee with the oil and cream...didn’t bother me a bit. But I have been drinking butter in coffee a while.
Do you refrigerate the MCT oil?
Add a teaspoon of cocoa (unsweetened) and several dashes of cinnamon and one packet of stevia.

Awesome! what do u think of the Gundry plant paradox way?

Heya Fay, I put all that information in the video description of all my videos :) Hope you like!

I would like the recipe for the chocolate fat bomb shake thank you so much
Love mct oil and your channel!
Thank you and yep, MCT oil rocks!
Does it taste oily
Aren't butter and coconut oil saturated fats? Would this work for someone who is watching their cholesterol?
I love your videos. Thank you!
Hi Dot, the coffee is certainly great and provides a boost of energy. Any thoughts on how to make Keto ice cream sandwiches? I haven't seem to find any recipe on one of my favorite treats. Thank you!
No thoughts on ice cream sandwiches. Not sure how I'd make the sweet doughy crust thing. Have to think about it....
I've been adding cinnamon and coco powder! YUM!

Any sort of fat fills you up, keeping you from snacking or at the least being hungry all day.
So glad I found you on UA-cam....I would like to follow you...and try your diet.

If you could please maybe create some low carb mexican food recipes that would be awesome
Hey there, I appreciate the input. I'll try to do more in the future, but here's one I did: ua-cam.com/video/NCtUxAQwXCI/v-deo.html

Hi Dot! What is the difference between Bullet Coffee and Bulletproof Coffee? Thanks and happy Memorial Day!
Is it necessary to have MCT oil to lose weight?
You can definitely do it without the MCT oil. The weightloss comes from getting your calories without an insulin spike :) Enjoy.
Avec le MCT oil, se concentrer devient plus facile, et notre cerveau il est content
If you use the regular coconut oil in your coffee instead of the MCT oil, do you still have to build up to it gradually?
If you don't use MCT oil, only coconut, you shouldn't have to build up to it. That said, people coming off a low fat diet (directly) should build up to higher fat contents "in general" because they're not used to it. Best of luck :)
Daily morning coffee ☕️
Does the MCT oil have the taste of coconut? I do like coconut but the taste of the oil nauseates me. I wonder if anyone sell unflavored coconut oil? I really want to start incorporating the oil into my cooking but just can not get past the taste.
MCT oil has no flavor :)
Ugh! Thanks to you, I now know why I reacted as I did. lol. #NewSub
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living Can you tell me where you get your MCT OIL from? TIA
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living
Good on you! Found some great free videos on here for 15 mins of weight lifting 4 days a week alternating upper & lower body and one day of yoga type stretching for 15 mins.
for the fat burning coffee , can you use coconut oil instead of mct oil?
Absolutely.
Coconut oil is OK BUT MCT oil has 6 x the amount of MCT than ordinary coconut oil
Thank you for response, time and efforts!
Is it Ok to use sweetener In the BPC? Im not a big fan of the coffeetaste....;)
If you want to use sweetener, then use it...to me keto/low carb foods is about what will get you to eat/drink something healthy. Have fun with it.
can you use decaf tea as well? I hate coffee
I've heard of people doing bullet tea but haven't tried it. I don't see why not.
Perfect keto has chocolate or vanilla flavored mct oil powder which is more gut friendly and tastes great.
I done drink coffee can we use cows milk or almond milk or soya milk all organic?
Cows milk has too much protein and milk sugar, but you can use heavy cream. Yes you can drink almond milk, but I wouldn't use it all the time as it still has carbs. I can't drink soy milk because of the estrogen. However low carbers do use it. The only thing I've heard is that most soy is heavily genetically modified (the best soy is in Japan).
Im ur new fan
Aw, thank you!
I made the same mistake with MCT oil. Made me sick as a dog-on 2 separate occasions. I retired the oil shortly thereafter....
I had to start at 1 tsp and slowly work may way up to 1 tbsp. Ugh!
Wow my granddaughter has all of these ingredients. I am going to differently try this...Thanks for your channel. Suzanne Ozarksflipper
Essentially
Can you use the mct powder if you can’t find the oil
You could, just keep in mind how much mct you're getting, make sure it's not too concentrated.
I have to try that. I’m drinking a lot of regular coffee but it’s time to start BPC I feel.
how do you find the SR MCT oil I got same MCT from amazon after opening the bottle they tell you to keeping in fridge , but it get real thick in fridge
I've purchased it from Amazon and my local Vitamin Shoppe carries it too. However, the instructions on the bottle says to "store at room temperature." MCT oil is not stored in your refrigerator. I keep mine in my pantry next to my olive oil.
Glad I found U!!! You can also toss it into a thermos and shake the hell out of it😁
I need my coffee sweet, can adding some Stevia be ok?
Yep, that'd do it :)
Paula Lotte i
Paula Lotte I add 1 packet
Paula Lotte I know your comment was 4 months ago, but I USED TO BE addicted to sweet coffee but I found that coconut oil and coffee tasted "sweet" enough for me and I ended up quitting sugar altogether
it took some time and some effort to reduce my sugar cravings but I no longer need sugar in my coffee
What is a chocolate fat shake
Dot2Trot's Low Carb Living I've never heard of those but I will look into them. Thank you.
Is the heavy cream the same as heavy whipping cream and can I use them interchangeably?
Fat burning tea ( with MCT oil)
Thank U 4 D VIDEO😉 LORD KNOWS I MISSED DRINKING MY CUP OF *COFFEE*☕
so much value
Manie Singh Walia you got that right!
Thanks for being a good wife.
I'm jealous, chocolate cream coffee.
Mct makes your stomach very upset like diarhea upset better to use cocoanut oil
It definitely can. Just gotta get used to it. And small amounts help. Or just coconut oil, as you say :)
Really? Thank God I did not experience that.
Dot, since this drink is so high in calories, am I to assume this is your 'breakfast meal'?
Yep, it is, exactly. :)
So only this is good for a breakfast meal
Basically if you're really constipated MCT oil should help solve the problem is what you're saying correct?😆💩
good videogood video
Coconut oil IS 60% MCT oil, cheaper than MCT by itself.
True!
Hello Dot, thanks for sharing this. Nice pleasant lady
Thank you!
Dot, i don't like coffee! So what can i do to make something like this without the coffee?
There are people who use hot tea instead of coffee.
Isn't that coffee breaking your fast?
Not necessarily. I fast to break insulin resistance. While a bullet coffee does have calories, those calories come from fat, which doesn't trigger insulin.
only the butter I can't stand !!!!in coffee yaaaak
Hmmmm....well heavy cream and coconut oil works too.
thats how cream powder for coffee is made..
